If David would stop rambling on so much with page filling material he might actually be a good writer. As things stand I could not get past the fifth chapter. Maybe he is a self proclaimed the store best selling author or simply infers sells the most books on the store.

A little too much of comedic writing at the beginning, but this quickly resolves into a crazy, entertaining story. The characters are all extreme and hilarious. The mystery is suspenseful and not easy to solve. This is a fun book!

David Behrens is a talented author of the action thriller genre. He takes an intimate knowledge of locale, and combines it with characters who are so dumb-clever-sneaky and lovable that you will absolutely fall in love with them.

While reading this most enjoyable novel,it became obvious that Berens must have had fun writing it as I did reading it! Although a few elements were kind of "hokey," they worked well to weave into a fun read.

I’ve read all five books in the “Wave” series now and been highly entertained by each one. Troy Clint Bodean is not your standard private investigator. Matter of fact, he works for beer. That’s good cause he’s such a klutz that all his clients would want the or money back.

Each book is very different from the last. I won’t say I have a favorite, but I will say my least favorite was “Dark Wave”, number four in the series. It seemed to drag on and on, could have been a lot shorter and still told the story. Maybe that’s just my prejudice showing though, as the storyline centered around artists and works of art, which I’ve never given a fig about. I love a beautiful picture, but to see a canvas smeared with paint that looks like a chimpanzee may be the artist, then learn the painting is worth millions just because somebody somewhere decreed it and the art world swooned and it was so. Nope. I don’t get that. Not at all. Sorta reminds me of “The Emperor’s New Clothes”. People will believe anything.

Character development is awesome in each book, you will either love or hate each character and you will not figure out who the bad guy is until the very end.

Overall a great job, David Berens!

This opus might be seen as Carl Hiaasen collides with Tim Dorsey and they end up two states to the north. I struggled to get about two/thirds of the book read, put it down and never picked it up again. Too much of a good thing? Well, no. Too much of a . . . something.

A new opportunity in Troy Bodean’s life enables him to live the life of a beach bum, well, more or less. His good looks, inability to stay out of trouble and the sexy blonde chick who has recently sent him “interested” vibes turn his world upside down. His landlord has been recently found murdered, his discovery that his (Ms. Right) ex-girlfriend lives up the hill is just the beginning of his bad luck. His finding and rescuing a cowboy hat with a peacock feather in it is a sign of his luck changing … uh, no!

The hat holds the key to murder, intrigue and two very rude illiterate Australian hitmen sent to recover the mystery the hat holds. There are a slew of other characters that bring the listener to near tears of laughter – Chesney, the twin pole dancing blondes, the two Australian hit-men, and the ice cream truck guy.

An interesting and highly entertaining murder thriller with engaging characters that keep the action moving. David Berens has written an action-packed thriller that keeps the listener’s attention. In places, it is highly amusing while in others it is extremely dark. This is a good book, but one that has some highly violent scenes. I’m not sure I believed the two hit-men; they were a bit flakier than I would have imagined.

The characters are well-developed with realistic dialog throughout the book. Lots of moving pieces that come together, although I thought Bodean could have been developed slightly more. There were places where he did not seem the main character or he took too many steps back into the background.

The narrator, Theo Holland, has a talented voice that helped draw the listener in and added a bit of flair to the story. I enjoyed the voices he used for each character. He did a good solid job of narration, I enjoyed his voice.

I had no issues with the quality or production of this audiobook.
