The book caught me right away, however, like a lot of books, it flip flopped back and forth leaving you to adjust but as you got into the book it made you want to hurry back to the other's to find out the next thing, I rated the book as a four because I felt the author ended it too soon. I would recommend this book to book clubs; with a sequel to follow.

I enjoyed Sweet Water from beginning to end. The chapters switched back and forth between the granddaughter and the grandmother creating a fast paced read. I liked the chapters where the grandmother was telling her story because she had the secrets. Good lesson to not waste our lives hating. Cut your losses and begin anew.

I really enjoyed this book. The characters were relatable, the story was well developed, and the plot was well thought out. The only problem I encountered was the ending. I was very engaged in the story right from the beginning, yet, as I came to the end of the novel, it was anti-climactic. Good story though.

I really enjoyed reading this book. The family interest was a plus for me. The book was told in a way that kept interest going with a touch of mystery. I did not like the ending however as it ended without details of the final outcome and the reader has to give it their own ending.

Going back to discover the family with southern roots , this Yankee woman needed to get answers of who her mother was and how she lived and was killed in a tragic car crash. Questions and inquiries hold the reader's attention to the story that unfolds!

Christina Kline is a magnificent writer. I was pulled into Cassandra's journey into her family secrets and her self discovery. Ms. Kline's words were descriptive that I felt as if I was there. I gave it a four because I couldn't put it down. Thanks for the ride to Sweet Water.

Families have secrets and unraveling what the secrets were in this family was a page turner. Enjoyed the two character voices telling this story from the past and present. Read another book by this author and enjoyed it very much. I would read another of her books.

I liked the story when I could follow it. Sometimes I couldn't tell who was talking and often it took awhile before I figured it out. It was too much back and forth from past to present. Had it been presented differently, it would have been better.

Total waste of precious reading time on this one. Did not care at all about the cousin love interest and the ending was so abrupt, I thought I'd missed something. Will not read anything of Ms. Kline's in the future.

I liked this book for two reasons . First, it was about characters who are wounded and keep secrets that are never as bad as the damage they do to the person and their family. Secondly, I liked the writer's style of storytelling because each character's inner life is revealed gradually through their thoughts and actions. The reader is the only one privy to the whole story because of of the lack of expression verbally between characters, but through their inner life, the reader sees the whole picture unfold.

This an interesting novel about a daughter in search of her mother who was killed in an accident and how had no contact with her Mother's family after. She goes in search of answers and a family who doesn't want to face the past.

As many others have remarked, this is an especially good book, so very-well written, that just abruptly ends before the whole story has been told. (You will be looking for missing pages.) But, it's a very good read while it lasts!

This was one of my very favorites ....at one time we lived near Sweet Water Tennessee for a short time...its a different world out there to the west than from where I am now in florida and it brought back many memories !! Very Good !!

The twists and turns created within the family structure of Cassie was intriguing and interesting. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this story with its interesting cast of characters. Thank-you for sharing your story with me.

This story had great promise at the beginning and as other readers have said sort of went south after in the middle. Surprised by the "love"story and that Cassie's father didn't have more of a part. I do hope that Ms. Kline will further visit the Clyde family in future offerings, because if she doesn't, it seems as if she just got tired or writing and ended this one.

I really enjoyed this book for the city girl meets southern charm. The main character had a good set of morals and values, somewhat innocent and pure, but not totally. The only dislike I found was the ending. It's great to finish off with the truth for what really happened that day, however, there should have been a better ending for the main character.

Another great book by Christina Baker Kline! A very compelling book full of suspense, guilt, hatred, love and forgiveness. Family secrets uncovered and questions answered from a granddaughter and her grandmother's point of views.

This is a really good story about rediscovering family, and unburying secrets, but it ends rather abruptly. I wasn't ready for that. Some parts of the story reached closure, but it seemed like there was more to tell.

Often first books have a few dull chapters this did not. The family characters were very normal people making you want to j continue reading late into the night. Easily able to relate to subjects throughout the book. Very nicely written.

I started out really likeing this book but it seemed the middle part dragged with to much detail and no action. The ending was unexpected and thought provoking and that is why I gave it 3 stars instead of 2.

I enjoyed reading this book. It makes you more aware of the past and your ancestors. It keeps you interested as you become aware of the secrets so many have held onto for so long. You wonder about your own relatives and what secrets they held.

This book started off so good, really great writing, well-developed characters and story line. I was looking forward to reading it every chance I got. Then I got to the end . . . so disappointing! It just ends abruptly with no real resolution. At first I thought there must be some kind of mistake, like my book was missing pages or something. Tragic! It makes me sad that a story with such potential ended in this way.

Another great book from Christina Baker Kline. My only complaint would be the risqué parts. So not appropriate for younger readers.
Christina manages to tell a story that moves along quickly and has fairly short chapters. (I like short chapters because it a stopping place. I hate trying to read to the end of a long chapter before bed). Quick read!

This was an easy read and I enjoyed the switching of voices of the characters in the telling of the story. Not much depth to the characters though and the ending lacked the drama to which the plot seemed to be building up to.

A short story about a dysfunctional family, each keeping a secret that is constructed by gossip in a small town and bits and pieces of truth. I think I give it a 2 1/2 star rating. Not bad but not great.

This book was a wonderful peaceful read. Everything rolls along and has a few surprises. This is a dysfunctional family, just like all of us have but don't talk about. I would recommend to my friends as I enjoyed spending Tome with the characters.

This was an enjoyable read for me. The story line was good and it kept me entertained. With that being said, I think it's best for this author to stay away from 'mystery Novell's because that was a little dull.

Kept reading the book thinking the story would unfold soon. It then abruptly ended. I thought for sure my app had messed up! Sadly, no. There is no ending to this book. Very disappointing since I was really interested to see a book about a small town in Tennessee like I was from.....

Interesting read, could not put the book down. Didn't really care for the characters choices but that is
what kept me reading hoping they would what I wanted have done. Felt the ending was too much
too fast.

First I really enjoyed this book. It really pulls the reader in and keeps you reading to find out what happened. What is the secret? What is the truth?
The problem is, the story just ends. Everything stops abruptly. It feels like there should be another chapter or a second book. There was a lot just unfinished.
Wishing for an epilogue....
