Murder happens but you only read of the end result not a written-visual explanation. I thought I had figured out the end but I didn't get it right. I love the recipes she includes although I haven't made any yet.

Fast paced and fun. Reading about Hannah and Lake Eden is like visiting old friends. I was not only interested in solving the murder but in Norman's fate. Recipes are delicious and an added bonus. Great book, great characters, great series, great read.

Hannah has been dating two men since the beginning, Mike and Norman. Now Doctor Bev shows up. She has a history with Norman and she seems to be moving in on Hannah's territory. Doctor Bev starts dating Mike and then tells Norman that her children is his and the only way he can see it is to marry her. Hannah is devastated. She loves Norman and doesn't want to lose him. Norman however appears unhappy. He has to give up Cuddles, the cat he loves, and he lets Bev move in with him.
All of this drama unfolds while Hannah tries to solve yet another murder she's wrapped up in.

We all know the scenario - dead of winter, icy roads and people don't heed to traffic warnings of taking it slow. In a sudden pile-up Hannah and her sister Michelle find themselves trekking through a turned over bus belonging to the Cinnamon Roll Six jazz band. They were due to play at the Jazz Festival the Eden Inn.
Apparently the bus driver had a heart attack at the wheel. The injured and shocked band players plus their assistants are taken to the Lake Eden hospital where the keyboard player, Buddy Neiman walks in but is wheeled down to the mortuary after being stabbed by a pair of surgical scissors. There were no witnesses to who walked in to the treatment room and now blood evidence shows that Buddy isn't who he says he is.
Hannah with her usual investigative prowess begins to untangle the web of lies that Buddy wove. Who gained by his death, what did the so called Buddy do to make someone kill him? On top of all this, Hannah hasn't been seeing much of Norman, her best friend and part-time boyfriend. Doctor Bev has made it difficult - Norm's fiance. Can the cookie sleuth solve the mystery and get back on track with Norman?
I'm a huge fan of the Hannah Swensen series, especially the recipes that accompany practically each chapter. Although I know the formula, I still enjoy how Fluke intermingles the clues and the various residents in the mystery. Her writing is effortless although it does irk me that Hannah and Norman haven't got together yet...forget Mike (the detective that Hannah also sees!), I'm on team Norman...
If this is going to be the first novel to read of Joanne Fluke, stop and start with Chocolate Chip - you'll get to know the characters, the quaint town that is Lake Eden, the Cookie Shop and all the normal, strange and funny residents. A great series continues.

again the author brings more characters into the fold, at least temporarialy, and resurrects others that were principle parts in other books. The story twists and turns including a new suspect, the nefarious Dr Bev. Who-dun-it is the question

this was not a bad little story. interesting and light reading, However I was a little disappointed that so many pages were taken up with recipes. Nice way to write a recipe book, but I was expecting this and was a little annoyed with all the interuptions If someone is looking for a book with good recipes encased in a nice little mystery Its the book for you. I'm sure it must have been mentioned on the the store website but I didn't ead enough.

This book was about a dreadful automobile accident in Lake Eden, MN. Our favorite sleuth, Hannah Swensen and her younger sister, Michelle are heading home and just manage to miss being caught up in the tragedy. The sisters try to aid an over-turned bus that just happens to hold the Cinnamon Roll Six, a jazz ensemble. To their sorrow, not only are there injuries, but the driver is dead.
Later, at the hospital, they find out the man with the sprained wrist, Buddy, is dead. Not only dead but he isn't Buddy at all, at least not according to his blood type. And, he was murdered! Just who is this man and who would want to murder him?
There are other strange mysteries to appear as Hannah and her sister's and Mother try to solve the crime, like the hospital intern, Ben.
Back on the home front, no one, and I mean no one, likes Norman's intended bride, Doctor Bev. She is lying, and wants Norman to give up all his old friends, like Hannah and Mike. The close friends and family gather together to stop the wedding...they have eight days.
The recipes in the book were yummy sounding as ever. They were to be found at the end of almost every chapter.
Does Hannah solve the crime and save her heart's love too? Rush out and read this latest chapter in her life!
