Very good and Very Smooth. Overall I enjoyed this book from start to finish. The characters are lively, the setting is grim. Had a couple minor gripes about the lack of info on certain events talked about, and the ending is a little rushed like the first book in this series. However that does fit into the way a lot of movies have been written lately so one could only speculate there might be some interest into that. If you liked Tomorrow War or Day by Day Armageddon I think you will enjoy this. Now that the author has retired from the Navy maybe we will see new stuff a bit quicker. Even if not I do not mind the wait.

His first books were pretty good, but this one dropped below the bar. It quickly became hard to keep reading and I had to force my self to finish it. Bourne all of a sudden adds his personal politics that weren’t evident in his characters before. Which he has every right to do, it just distracts from the story and the character and makes him sound like a bit of a right wing Alex Jones supporting snowflake. I don’t believe in burning books, so this one will go in the trash.

I absolutely loved this book, and it's many facets of a somewhat different concoction of the post apocalyptic. The second installment of a sensational s#$% hit the fan scenario is riveting in the action and haunting in it's realism. This story and the events leading to the end of the world as we know it seem like a plausible future, one which only those strong, smart, and ready are amongst a minority of a populous hanging on in a world decimated by technological means. The possibility of financial destabilization by a weaponized computer virus was the catalyst of society losing their minds and collective soul. It seems strange but not so strange to think about what a person would do if they found that they went to sleep one day and woke up to find out their money was worthless, food is limited to what you can hunt or obtain from a tyrannical government which seized the opportunity of absolute power. Max (not the mad one) is the personification of the former military or executive agency man in a world gone bad, mixed with a hint of doomsday prepper, and emboldened by a metric ton of humane virtue and dedication toward priciples which built the country he grew up in. In the situation of having to take back the world you once knew, while turning it into something improved for the sake of a better future there lingers one question. What would you do? #FIGHT
Home Invasion (The Survivalist) (Volume 8) :: A Novel (The Survivalist Series) - Resurrecting Home :: Conflicted Home (The Survivalist) (Volume 9) :: A Post Apocalyptic Medical Thriller (Graham's Resolution Book 1) :: Forsaking Home (The Survivalist Series)

Well written and well researched. Great "page turner" and keeps the read wrapped up in suspense and not knowing what to expect next. I was concerned about how the author would pull it off after the ending of the last book and making it sound like the story was recovered sometime in the future, being recounted... but the author pulled it off. Dare I say, I liked the second better than the first!?!

Stumbled upon this series and was not disappointed. Pacing of the series was great, mix of action and "surviving" was spot on. The author did not step up on a soap box which is refreshing, compared to some survival fiction. My only complaint is the end of Serpent road was very Anti-climactic. *SPOILER* The author left a lot to be desired when it came time to nuke the government. * END OF SPOILER* Overall I would recommend it to anyone that enjoys "realistic" survival fiction.

A satisfying follow-up to the original and well worth the price. I submitted a review for the original book on another platform, and I'll say here what I said there: these books would make a killer movie series. A lot of people in America are scared about the future of our country, and stories like this, if done properly, would make a killing critically and commercially. Think about it, Bourne. The only complaint I have with the book, the same one I have with a lot of his other work, is that the endings kind of feel flat. Everything ends the way you want it to most of the time, but it seems like things just happen and there's not a lot of build to it.

I really enjoy the journal style format. It lends a certain amount of immediacy to the tale. The story itself is one that grabs you and forces you to push through. "just one more chapter" becomes the mantra as you suddenly realize....you are going to be very tired in the morning... Hopfully. J. L. Bourne will be able to write full time (also hoping for a netlix series or the store Prime original series) for his other works. As this story gets going, there is quite a bit of room for story telliong for our favorite characters. Congrats on retirment from the US Navy Mr. Bourne...My you now become a full time author.

Wow! Another fantastic book by Mr. Bourne. We're very lucky that he recently embarked on the next stage of his career so he can devote more time to his writing! Highly recommended for those that enjoy military themed stories that hit a little closer to reality than most are comfortable with.

Serpent road is stunning. J.L Bourne has a staggering depth of knowledge concerning his subject matter, born from real life experience.
The story line kept me riveted without pause from chapter to chapter. A reader will not, definitely not, regret picking up this tale of Max (redacted)
Bravo author,...bravo!

A very well thought out book. I loved every minute of the read. Unfortunately my only regret is that I didn't pace myself and the read went quickly. I guess that would be a compliment to the author as I found trouble putting it down after a long day at the shop. I feel this may be the last of the series which I hate because Mr. Bourne has a special way of building a relationship with the main character of all his books. Recommend and will probably reread after I finish the first one again.

JL is a great storyteller. He weaves his military experience, backwoods field craft and weapons knowledge into the narrative that gives credibility to the story. A fun listen and the narrator is very good. His Day By Day Armageddon series is also a lot of fun.

Just finished Tomorrow War : Serpent Road ! Great Second installment to the chronicles of Max [Redacted] If you like the Day By Day Armageddon series and you haven't checked out this series you are missing out! *Note this is not a zombie series but a post grid down story about the government taking liberty in the genre of Enemies Foreign and Domestic #resist

This book was beyond amazing. Mr. Bourne has truly gone above and beyond to keep his readers on the edge of our seats with Serpent Road. Hopefully, we see more from him soon. Whether the chronicles of Max get expanded, or in the DBDA universe. Highly recommend reading all of Mr. Bourne's work.

I downloaded this book and read it in its entirety in one day. Suspenseful and dynamic and a great continuation of the series. I hope that there is move forthcoming. Need to see the rest of Max's story.

Another great book. This is a great sequel. Like every fan I just wished it was longer and much more detailed. But overall the book was a great read and it keeps you in suspense. Mr. Bourne also has a zombie apocalypse series and those are also a great read.

Compared to all of JL Burne's previous works this is by far one of his best! If you go back to his early pieces, Day by Day Armageddon, you'll actively see him improving with each book he shoves out! Keep it up Mr. Bourne, at this rate you'll be up there with all of my favorite writers!
