I read the first book - Into the wilderness - many years ago and was delighted to discover recently that Sara Donati had written more. I love these characters, I love the adventure and I love the history behind it all. Cannot wait to read the next book.

The second in this series was very slow motoring in spots but drug out at times that made me scream get on with it already...I think that the third will determine if I Finnish the series...As long as the pace moves along BETTER In sure I'll enjoy them.

Loved this book! Enjoyed the developing relationship with Nathaniel, the realistic description of the different lifestyles of Indians and whites, the hardships, the joys and sorrows of each character.
The Endless Forest: A Novel (Wilderness) :: Lake in the Clouds (Wilderness) :: A Rip in the Veil (The Graham Saga Book 1) :: Jinx & Tonic (The Magic & Mixology Mystery Series Book 3) :: Fire Along the Sky (Wilderness)

This follow up to Into the Wilderness was very enjoyable. I was not too thrilled with the first book, but thought I would read the next book anyway. I was pleasantly suprised and got a better feel for the characters. I will buy the next one with interest!

I have read, reread, and re-reread Dianna Gabaldon's Outlander series, and have felt only disappointment when I've tried to branch out and read other authors. I was pleasantly surprised to find Sara Donoti's work to be very similar in it's intelligence, humor, and historical relevance. Finally, another author I can enjoy as much as Ms Gabaldon!

I had read Donati's series of six Wilderness books and really liked them so I bought this as a gift for my daughter because she had read the first one and liked it. They are long books but never boring. I thought the book would be a larger size, as the soft cover "Into the Wilderness" had a bigger cover with a little larger print but the book came quickly, was reasonably priced, and my daughter is happy to receive it. Donati is a really good writer. I only discovered her this year. - Fran

Books in beautiful condition. Love the continuing story of the Bonner family and the history of that time. I feel like I know the Bonners as truly real people, their relationships with all people, something to learn from. Truly the most wonderful and heartwarming stories.

Still loved this book and will continue to read the series but into the wilderness was a little better. This book has a lot more action and Elizabeth and Nathaniel (spoiler) are separated quite a bit. But as good read none the less!
