This is just a poorly written story about a raccoon stealing pizza and being hit with brooms. There is now flow to the writing style and you will regret owning it the entire time you are reading it to your kid. I'm sneaking this book out of the house and hoping the kid doesn't notice.

SECRET PIZZA PARTY!!!! Oh sorry this book gives me the happy screams. A book I don't mind reading to my daughter fives times in one night. Every read through is just as fun as the first and we have read it a lot!

This book is nowhere near as good as Dragons Love Tacos. I'm no helicopter parent and have a healthy sense of humor but this book about a raccoon stealing pizza isn't really funny. The illustrations are good though.

Readers can sympathize with this poor raccoon who fantasizes about eating pizza. He will do ANYTHING for a pizza - even disguising himself as a person and grab one from his local pizza parlor. He is obsessed with pizza. Raccoon even has pizza sheets.

Raccoon decides to throw a private pizza party, until he discovers a huge pizza party and decides to crash it. You will have to read this book to find out what happens next to Raccoon. And then treat yourself to a piece of pizza.

Secret Pizza Party and Dragons Love Tacos are my daughters favorite books.
She loves to have us re-read these books over and over.
She is one and these are the only books she will sit still and engage with.
We also think these books are fun to read.

I guess I missed the pedophilic undertones and theft tutorials, because I thought it was great. My son has never laughed so hard when reading a book at bedtime. I understand that some folks might "read" a little too far into it (no pun intended) but jeeze man, lighten up! It's a book about a raccoon that steals pizza (which is what raccoons are known to do - steal food.)

A very clever little book with wonderful illustrations that for reasons not easily explained makes me cringe upon every reading. Fortunately, my little one rarely takes it off the shelf. A gift from an acquaintance I have since barred from future birthdays.

Secret Pizza Party and Dragons Love Tacos are 2 of my son's favorite books. They are fun to read to him, too. Wit is woven into each page and the author really forces you to feel for the characters. Great book.

My kid, like most, loves pizza. My household is a big fan of Adam Rubin and Daniel Salmieri books, but I am not digging this one. Other people have commented on the message, and I'm feeling the same way. Our main character steals a pizza and the whole time, we're telling the reader that keeping secrets make things more fun. I'm pretty sure any children's psychologist would recommend avoiding this book. I don't think at any point, a child should be told that keeping a secret is ok, let alone "make it special".

I bought the 'Dragons Love Tacos' book based on other people's positive reviews, and it looked fun. My nephew loved it so much I got him this one to follow up and he loved it even more. I've never read these but my sister-in-law says they are his favorites and they read them over and over again. They even threw him a 'Secret Pizza Party' themed birthday this year and they served pizza while she read the book to a room full of kids and she said it was a huge hit.

My 6 year old grandson laughed so much reading it. When he read it to his parents he told them they need to have a secret pizza party and they can't tell anyone! It's a secret! Adam and Daniel are so funny! Sweet sassy molassy!

I completely agree with some of the other comments. I was so bummed to read this book to my year old daughter who just received this as a gift since we loved the other books, "Dragons Love Tacos" and "Those Darn Squirrels." I'm in the process of returning this book because I simply felt uneasy reading to my daughter since it implies secrets are good and stealing is funny. So disappointed in this book. I can't even believe it has any good reviews. Do you guys even have kids? I would think you'd think twice before publishing such a book or at least let everyone know this is for much older kids. Bummer. I was really looking forward to another great book by Adam Rubin.

This is such an adorable book! My daughter's previous favorite book was Dragons Love Tacos, and by Adam Rubin... and this book has quickly made it into the rotation! The illustrations are lovely, and the story is amusing and quirky. Silly books are the best!

I am already mentally planning a Secret Pizza Party birthday party! :)

This book has cute illustrations and sometimes funny dialogue, but the message it sends is disturbing. The raccoon wants pizza, but dresses like a crook and STEALS pizza from the pizza man without any thought of paying for it! Is this the message we want for our children? Is this OK? I think not!

My almost three year old daughter loves this book; we read it every night, and I'M not even tired of it yet! Do I have any gripes about the book? Yes. After reading it each night, I am left craving pizza so badly. My pizza consumption has greatly increased. AND, I think the author missed a great opportunity to add a bit more pizza humor when the raccoon flees with his stolen pizza. *I* think the narrator should have told raccoon to "cheese it," not "let's go!" Haha

This Book is ADORABLE!
My son loves "Dragons Love Tacos" by Adam Rubin so I bought him Secret Pizza Party and it doesn't disappoint.
We also gave it to one of his friends as a birthday gift and he loves it too!

We love "Dragons Love Tacos" and the "Those Darn Squirrels" series at our house so we anxiously awaited the release of "Secret Pizza Party." Unfortunately, after the first read, I quietly took it off our bookshelf. The book's graphics are lively and engaging and the tone is enthusiastic and fun to read, but I didn't like that we were supposed to cheer for the raccoon to steal pizza and get away with it. Even if I overlooked the stealing element of the story, I was very unsettled by the book's characterization of secrets to young children - "When you make something secret, you make it special." I probably watched too many after school specials growing up, but it just didn't sit well with me. So, we will continue to enjoy the dragons and the squirrels, but will let the raccoon sit it out.
