Those Darn Squirrels!

I think I remember why I bought "Those Darn Squirrels" yesterday. I'm looking for a book to read to my son's class, and am skipping through reviews on kids' books on the store, and came across this book. We have some bird feeders up and love squirrels and grumpy grandpa types :), the title was funny, the reviews were good, the summary seemed like it would be up our alley and the graphics looked very humorous and appealing. Tonight I read the book to dear son on kindle at bedtime, and we LOVED this book. GREAT illustrations, written REALLY WELL, funny, and sweet... After dear son went to sleep I handed it to dear husband and asked him to read it... he was reading it out loud to me and laughing, and told me to come write a review... while I'm here, I'm getting the 2 sequels for kindle, and I can see that we'll be reading those two sequels together laughing! Gosh, I really hope his class hasn't read this book yet, because I'd *love* to bring this in for 'guest reader day'!
p.s. We also think "Click. Clack. Moo." is really funny in our sense of humor, but this has even more going on in the story and in the pictures. We'll be reaching to this for gifts! Don't even hesitate to buy this book! Oh, and it's formatted really beautifully for kindle - easy to read the text, easy to see the illustrations...

My gandchildren love to get packages from Grammy because I am very careful to buy the right books solely on customer reviews . I think they are all cute but our grandkids have so many books I do make an effort send the most popular. Be sure to look for books age appropriate and narrow by reviews.

I am always overjoyed to find well written books that -give- something to the reader. It's so rare to come across a well written gorgeously illustrated young reader book that isn't sappy or overdone or supercilious. This book is really wonderful. It's funny and witty and perfectly done.

Cute story, I liked that the squirrels were clever at getting the bird seeds out of the feeders. Also when all the birds left and saw the old man sad they gathered all their change to give him for taking the seed and making costumes to cheer him up.

My (then four ) seven year old loved the original 'Those Darn Squirrels' and hoped that this one would continue the saga. Sadly it takes a turn to the neighbor lady and her grumpy pet. Still a fun story and of course wonderful illustrations.

My grandson and I love these stories! This is the third we've read in a series of "Those Darn Squirrels" by Adam Rubin. The books are fun to read and inspire further discussion as well as creative thinking to come up with plans to foil or help the squirrels. When in one book the squirrels devise a plan to work together to get to Old Man Fookwire's bird feeders that have been "squirrel proofed", my grandson was inspired to devise his own plan. We had a great time working out a plan together and he drew it up on paper. It was so much fun working out our own plan of how we would get to the squirrel feeders, that we taped our plan with my 7 year-old grandson's drawing to the back page of the book. I'm sure some time in the future my grandson and I will have a great time remembering this fun afternoon as we look back on his childhood drawing.

Those Darn Squirrels was such an enjoyable book to read. It is a lot of fun for children and the illustrations add to the story and make it even more funny.

It's the first time I've read a book where the text pops up. I really liked that as it made it easier to read the story.

This it the cutest book! It is perfect for families because every age can enjoy it and get something out of it. After you read it the first time through, you will want to go back again and again and look more closely at the illustrations.
I bought this for a birthday present for my sister who loves to feed the squirrels. She is an adult, and she loved it.

This book is class! Hilarious, well written, and funny illustrations! All of our kids love it and we have read it multiple times every day since it arrived...Adam Rubin is quickly becoming a family favourite author! Totally different spin on squirrels!

My three year old daughter LOVES this book! From the first reading she was acting out scenes and "read" it back to me already repeating several phrases word for word. I will say I also enjoy reading it to her, it is a real break from the cutesy, flower, fairy foo foo books typical for a little girl.

Thank you for this delightful tale -- I just read it to my 3 year old - who is now in her room "reading" it over and over again (her version of the old man is even crabbier than the author's). Delightful -- funny -- sweet -- What more can you ask?

This book is just hilarious. The angry ole cat next door to Old Man Fookwire is just too mean. My grandkids had to be taught what a wet willy and a nookie are. But the page where the cat gives the squirrels all wedgies is their favorite. Very creative and is sure to be a family favorite through the ages. I am getting all of this authors.

Those darn Squirrels was a great find. Very original and unlike many kids books it had me laughing as much as it did the kids. The images were terrific and beautifully done and with lots of details for the kids to look over. Great little book.

Wacky illustrations, excellent use of advanced vocabulary, witty sarcasm, colorful characters.... what's not to love about this book. I had to read it aloud 15 times the day I gave it to my 3 little nieces! Old Man Fookwire is already a legend...

I teach a preschool class and the children loved the book! It was a bit longer than some of the stories I have read to them, but they were able to sit through it and were so interested in what was going to happen next.

My grandkids love these books. The squirrels are so funny and cause all kinds of trouble. This one especially is great as Muffin the cat get soaked by a joke the squirrels play on him. Great job the author did..... Get all 3 books.

This book was purchased for my three and half year old granddaughter. She loves this story. The story is very funny and nicely done for young children. The art work is just wonderful. I would give this to any pre-schooler.

If you liked Walter the Farting Dog and Skippy John Jones, then you will love Those Darn Squirrels. Save kind of odd fun that has kept my kids laughing and wanting to read it again and again. Great vocabulary and sentence structure for youg readers. Check out the next book about the cat too!
