This book is adorable. The dark coloring on the pages contrasted with the bright, happy characters is so unique- never seen another children's book like it. Our son is not here yet but I know this will be a favorite!

One of my all time favorite baby books. Have probably read it upwards of 200 times (no exaggeration) and have now bought it for several friends with babies. I'd put it up there with Goodnight, Moon and Hop on Pop.

Very cute story. I love that this is very different than other "goodnight" books. It's a different perspective of what activities goes on during night time, and a wonderful way of teaching kids nocturnal animals. Most bed time stories talk about activities before bedtime. This one talks about the activities that goes on at night, and when the sun comes up, that's when the baby owl goes to sleep. I like the size of the book, not too small, and not too big. I love the colors and the artwork. It's just beautiful work! I also liked that most of the pages are black or dark, so when you are reading, it makes you kind of sleepy because it's dark.. although the artwork and colors of the animals stand out.. but not in a bad way.. not obnoxious or loud. If I were to knit pick a little bit.. The only surprising thing was the artwork on the last page was "day time", and it was a little bright for me. Let's say you're reading the whole story, and you're getting sleepy.. that last page.. because it has a white background (daytime), it kind of wakes you up. If I were to give feedback to the artist, I would just make this last page a little darker.. like it's ABOUT to become day time.. but not yet daytime. This way, when you are reading for your child and she's about to fall asleep, she doesn't get woken up by the brightness of the last page. :) This was a great buy for a gift for a friend's daughter. Now I will buy it again for my own daughter.

For the most part, the pages have a black background, which makes the pictures pop out nicely. The story is cute and simple, ending with the day beginning; a great bedtime book, with a reminder that morning is just around the corner.
