Clever, funny, very entertaining and even educational in places. I somewhat randomly add books to my Kindle when I come across them and it can be months or even years before I get to them, having completely forgotten what they're about. It's always an unexpected pleasure when one turns out to be this good!

After the thrilling 100 year old man this book was sadly mostly a struggle to continue to read it. There were some charming aspects to it but the same approach of fantasy made real as the previous book didn't work for me this time.

Four stars because the author made all the coincidences and uniquely odd characters and situations almost believable! The reader might end up feeling a bit crazy when some of the events in the story actually start to make sense! What an imagination this guy has. I did not buy some of the romances, but it was a fun read.

I was quite disappointed with this latest book, where has his quirky sense of humour gone? for me the story didn,t roll along. I couldn't put his first book down (The one hundred year old man who stepped out of the window and disappeared), but I with this book, the characters were not easy to like or understand and I couldn't picture the story in my mind.

Very, very enjoyable book. A great story that weaves together many true events from recent history and international affairs with a great set of fictional characters. The whole book is good, but the last third had me laughing out loud regularly.

Best book for 2015, love both books by this author I have continued to recommend this book to everyone I see. Reminds me a little of Forrest Gump with the author's ability to include well known facts in the story. Loved it

The author displays a very active imagination but the story is well documented to actual events and places. Having lived in Sweden I am always curious to read books located in the country. A good read.

The book kept my attention, imagination and amusement all the way through. I didn't want to put it down. I love Joas Jonasson's expressive style, using simple logic and coincidences to create unbelievable, funny situations woven with broad political history. After reading The Hundred Tear Old Man who climbed through a Window and Disappeared, I could not wait for this next book and it was not a disappointment..

While I personally preferred the author's first story (the 100 Year Old Man Who Climbed Out Of The Window And Disappeared), this was a fantastic yarn. I don't know what Jonas Jonasson is writing next, but I'm preordering it the day I know about it!

Jonasson keeps you smiling from beginning to end.The story is a comedy of the absurd with excentric and odd characters, and all put together, transforms into a charming novel. I was looking forward to Jonasson's next book after reading "The 100 year old man..." and I was not one bit dissapointed with his new one.I loved it! Can't wait for his next one!!

Great book - really funny - kind of dry/tongue in cheek humor that this guy does. I really liked it. He also wrote "The 100 year old man that climbed...." which is also really good. I would definitely recommend both of these.

Maybe a little farther out than his "100 Year Old Man" book but very enjoyable and funny. Mr Jonasson helps get me through the night with his humor and insight into the characters we meet along the way. Great satire.

Utterly delightful. I always feel a sense of trepidation when approaching novels translated from Swedish, since they so often suffer from "translation-ese" - stiff, unnatural language which makes reading a chore. But there is no hint of that with this book. The story flows so deliciously that - rarest of experiences! - I came to only once I had turned the last page.

Lots of fun. Wild, great characters. Not quite as amazing as "A Hundred Year Old Man Climbs Out A Window and Disappears", but the author takes us on another wonderful adventure and definitely worth reading.

Brilliant. I would not have thought it was possible to better his first book - but this is.

Ridiculous coincidence builds on ridiculous coincidence to create the funniest laugh out loud book I have read in years.

I bought this book on line after seeing the movie "The Hundred Year Old Man Who Jumped Out of The Window and Disappeared", which I loved. I was certainly not disappointed - I loved the irony and satire throughout the book - very clever. When is his next book coming out?

This is a great read that wove current events into the life of a delightful fictional character. A little slow in places in order to include all that was happening in our world history, but still would recommend everyone to sit down and enjoy this lively and hilarious story of the girl who saved the king.

This is the book selected for our February meeting, so I bought it from Kindle and chose to peruse it. Could scarce put it down! A fast, light read, it has the twists and humor of the author's "the 100 Year Old Man..." Looking forward to the discussion, to the observances of the futility and frustrations and the posing of politicians and zealots.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. Very complicated but intriguing story about a young girl from Soweto from age 12 to 48 and how she becomes ambassador from Sweden to South Africa. All the twists and turns in her tale are quite entertaining.

Great holiday reading. I took quite a few weeks to finish the story as I could only grab small amounts of time. This didn't spoil it as the book was easy to move in and out of. Surprising the amount of geography Nambeko got around and the political references were really interesting. I found the main character captivating and would recommend this book to others
