What a wonderfully refreshing story in that it doesn't start off all in innocence. There is darkness out there in everyone, and this book is the journey of overcoming the darkness in the character, before fighting the evil in the story.

Stormwielder had amazing characters
with intriguing plot line and a finish that enticed me to read the next adventure. Tough bad guys that seem to serious hurt our heroes...if it wasn't for the goddess help.

Stormwielder starts out with a young man named Eric traveling to a faraway medieval town to make a new start. We soon find out the boy has special powers after three ruffians attempt to Shanghai him. He is able to generate powerful storms, replete with lightening, but the storms are unfocused—harming many more than their intended victims. An innocent family is killed by the lightening, which leaves just their son Gabriel, alive. Gabriel pursues the young man, Eric, who caused the calamity but he is protected by a wizened older man with fighting skills. Gabriel, we come to find out has the ability to freeze things. The narrative reminds me of a medieval version of the X Men, with some of the Fifth Element pared down and put in. A pursuit ensures between the residents of the destroyed town and Eric and a wizened old protector, Alastair (Professor X?) who can perform magic as well. The two adversaries are attacked, seemingly by a medieval biker gang—I mean what else would you call a gang named the Baronian of the Black Leather?
One criticism I have is that the author describes mundane tasks in too much detail. In one chapter he describes climbing a rope in such detail that it makes me ask why. I guess it was because he was trying to build tension, but I don't think it had the desired effect.
The writing is okay, but not captivating in any way. If you're inventing a fantasy world bound only by your imagination, take the ball and run with it—and be original. All fiction is derivative—there is no need to make it obvious. Naming your characters should be one of the most important things you do, to avoid giving characters names that are either mundane or bizarre.
There are minor grammatical issues, such as the use of fiancé in place of fiancée. Based on those factors, I could offer no more a rating of fair. If the author is going to make this into a series, I would suggest he hone the plot a bit more and work with a developmental editor to sharpen the plot.

Wonderful, I got this off a promotion from Future House Books and wow the cover did not disappoint. I don’t like to give spoilers sorry. But this book (at least in my personal opinion, and I read as much as possible) is totally worth it. To travel in a great magical book where chaos threatens, definitely his best series.

Loved this book and looking forward to reading the next! Action, romance, danger, magic - great descriptions which add to the flow and build you up as you read further into the story. This is going to be one of those trilogy's that I will go back and reread again.

I really enjoyed this book, the characters are endearing and the magic of this world is different from all other magic systems I have encountered. Quests to save the world, magic and a splash of love.....what more does any fantasy book need?
Can't wait to read the next book

The writing is okay, with some errors, but not too many.
Never cared much for books where the good guys seem to always be so overpowered by the evil, but I'm sure the author is going somewhere with it. I may see where he is going with it.

Execution was underwhelming.
It was not enough to have a remote antagonist, so let's use some cheesey excuse to create a closer on.
It feels like a slow moving B movie where you get the mandated plot elements more from the music score than the scene itself.
I won't be continuing the series. Noone here that I care to meet again.

So far this book has been disappointing. It he first 50 pages I have found a plethora of misspellings and improper grammar. The main errors that bother me most are the "heal" of a foot (heel). And "a sword sheaf". I'm not really sure about that. You could have a sheaf of arrows or a sheaf of papers but not this. A single sword has a sheaf. No. He meant depending on the materials, a sheath or scabbard. The plot is decent enough, but if these errors persist, I will have to stop reading it. The plot and character development are not of high enough quality, for me to disregard the errors. I have read hundreds of fantasy novels and this only ranks a mediocre.

This book has a very interesting premise and intriguing characters, all of which were completely ruined by constant grammar, spelling and plot errors (at one point, Enala and Gabriel are talking alone in the mountains when Eric, who is not there, grins at Gabriel) . It was enough to believe that the author wrote this all in one go and never proofed it. I was so aggravated and disappointed that I finally had to quit reading. This had so much potential, but it really let me down. If the author were to release an updated and corrected version, then I would definitely give this another go. Right now, the errors are just too frequent and sometimes too confusing to ignore.

I do believe that Aaron Hodges has really managed with this his very first book to begin an epic fantasy trilogy which i would compare with some of the best sagas i have read including Jordan's wheel of time series! His characters are great,i particularly loved Alastair, Eric though very naive and with no clue about his own strength and how to wield this is lovable and Inken is a very strong character too. we will have to wait for the next reads to get to know how Enala's character is going to turn out but i do hope she comes through for the three kingdoms! The fight of good against evil is as strong as any i have read, the demons just as evil and the dragons, Nerissa just as awesome! Love the way the Goddess Antonia of Plorsea every so often comes to the aid of those who so faithfully serve her and her cause. This is a trilogy that needs to be read and enjoyed.

So entrancing, such a magician with words! Loved reading this book and didn't want to put it down. It's not easy to live with a magic curse that killed your parents but you don't know how to stop or control it. Good start, good ending until the next book. I received a complimentary copy of this book for voluntary review consideration.

This was an interesting book with heroes like Eric who finds that he has a power that terrifies him. His ability to bring forth the might of nature, in the form of storms, is life changing. A meeting with enagmatic Alistair, a powerful Mage, sets them off on a quest that is difficult and filled with dangers. This book has everything, dragons, gods, demons and magic. I was given this book by instafreebie.

This story is fast paced, chock full of action, lots and lots of running, and has some of the most engaging characters. There's even budding romance. One could leave story at the end of this book but with so many good people to avenge the next book is an essential addition to any readers list. I was given a copy of this book, in return providing an honest review. Easy!

An enjoyable book into a world that contains good and bad magic. Eric kiilled his parents when his emotions led to the magic consuming him. After that he is forced to leave the village he had always known. I felt the emtions of the diffent characters as they fight the Archon. Will evin win?

Stormwielder by Aaron Hodges is a great suspenseful read. It has a slow start because of the in depth descriptions in the beginning but turns out to be a great read once you get past the beginning. I enjoyed reading this book and is looking forward to reading the next two books in the trilogy. I received a free copy of Stormwielder to read from Aaron Hodge and decided to give my honest opinion about why I enjoyed reading this book.

It's very detailed, not terribly difficult to get into but you get so involved you forget the that time passes quickly!
