All quotes. None of them mean much in their context. Seems more or like memes. AND she uses a Toni Morrison quote about slavery, like actual chattel slavery, to ask if the 'modern working woman' is a slave to time. It's terrible and out of touch.

This really is a menace to society. It presupposes conditions that really let down women in the third world and our American third world. Look elsewhere for empowerment unless you're hamptons or park avenue.

Do not listen to users writing cynical reviews with low ratings. I know, I picked this book up jokingly, thinking "it's by a Trump, this can't be good." Yet, this is in an engaging book that has some good insight that is simple, yet applicable.
I am not a Trump supporter and I knew that Ivanka would receive unkind words because of her name. She is rich. She's grown up that way and it seems to put people off. Crazy enough, there will always be someone who has more than you and someone who has less. You can either whine and complain about your setbacks (or write a mean review) or you can work for what you want. This is a good book with solid advice for any woman trying to advance herself. Don't let the bias cloud your judgement or keep you from reading!

Ivanka Trump grew up visiting building sites with her dad, loved playing with Legos and designing buildings as a child, and went on to follow in her father Donald Trump's footsteps graduating from his alma mater the Wharton Business School at University of Pennsylvania. She has been part of the Trump Organization for most of her career and has co-founded Trump Hotels and was CEO of Ivanka Trump Collection and IvankaTrump.com. Her clothing and jewelry collection are sold in many department stores and can be purchased for a very reasonable price. Add to that---they look good on any body shape! But I digress......
This book really does address women who work in business. If you happen to be a teacher, nurse, or anyone else who does shift work or in a service industry much of the language might not apply to you. However, the philosophies of teamwork, working "laterally" instead of the "top down" method, and just basically loving what you do then there's a lot here that can be learned and taken to heart.
There are six chapters in the book and each one is headed with a pertinent quote from a famous person. Some of the sayings are from Mark Twain, Betty Freidan, Maya Angelou, Geraldine Ferraro, and of course many people in business and industries. And one of the most significant quotes and probably the most important one in this book has to do with happiness. And The Dalai Lama says it the best: "Many think that happiness is to be found outside ourselves....but actually, happiness is something that comes from within." So it's important to not only love yourself but to love what you do and that is brought out time and time again in this book. Another quote has to do with having a passion for what you do and that if you don't have a passion----maybe you just haven't found it yet!
Ivanka Trump talks of her life as a wife, mother, and businesswoman. She gives examples of how she has made this all work for her without sacrificing principles and always trying to be the same person whether at work or at home. And what she stresses is always backed up by stories of other women and men who have found success and have been able to communicate their strategies for building their businesses and careers. There are many authors including Sheryl Sandberg of Lean In who are referenced and have their own theories and experiences to add.
Some other information and facts that are included in the book are these and it's interesting. As to negotiating for a raise or promotion----women ask for raises and promotions 85% less often than their male counterparts, frequently asking for 30% less. According to a Women in the Workplace 2016 study, women who ask "are 30% more likely than men who negotiate to receive feedback that they are 'intimidating,' 'too aggressive, or 'bossy' and 67% percent more likely than women who don't negotiate to receive the same negative feedback." Trump in this section emphasizes that you should be prepared to quantify every action you've done to promote the company and also timeliness is important. You don't want to catch the boss at a busy time or if he's in a bad mood!
Much of this book also deals with women who work in the digital age. Ivanka Trump talks of women who live as far as New Mexico and work for the corporation. With the latest technology, face time, Skype, e-mails there's no reason that a woman has to be in the office all the time. Family is important and she talks of the importance of adequate maternity leave, child care and workplaces even providing for a special space for children. Flextime is the operative word here and her philosophy is that as long as you are able to accomplish your goals you should be able to make the job experience work for you and your family. By the way Trump's corporation allows for 8 weeks of maternity and paternity leave, adoption leave, and there really is no set vacation or sick time. You take it as you need it. Apparently people are compliant and don't take advantage in this business!
While women in the workplace have made much progress, there is still a lot to be accomplished. Here are some more facts: 47% of the U.S. workforce is made up of women; 70% of all mothers support themselves and contribute financially to their family's income; 40% of U.S. households are headed by women as the primary breadwinners. Women make up more than half of the world's population yet in 2015 there were only 21 female CEO's in the Fortune 500. Research has shown that having an increasing number of women on corporate boards leads to more ethical workplaces and less corporate scandals. In other words, having more executive women in corporations makes for a better working environment! It is also noted that in the Trump Organization itself more than half of the executives are women!
It is recognized that there is much more to be done to promote women in business as well as in other aspects of their life. We must find ways to make it less of a challenge to find good affordable childcare and Trump is definitely an advocate working tirelessly even at the White House to welcome women entrepreneurs and to encourage our lawmakers to introduce legislation to promote women who work!

She is truly an amazing person with a great heart, soul and mind. I am a person with dark skin, born in the Bronx, south Bronx , actually. I think that she has gone where most authors have never gone. She has managed to understand the struggles of all people, as her father has known for decades. Ivank should be an inspiration to all young girls in America.
I grew up in poverty in a democrat stronghold that is filled with corruption and coercion. If one did not abide by the will of the Unions, one did not have a job. If one did not bow down to the corrupt Democrat party. One would not have a job or a place to live. Even worse, one would be put into the projects, on welfare and part of the endless cycle of poverty that has been created by the left.
Ivanka in her book and her life has been a role model for all women who choose to drop the victim role and take responsibility for their own lives and choices. It does not matter if she is rich or poor. She and her entire family leads by example. This book should be read in everypublic school. It is a refreshing change from the revisionist books and sdad depressing dribble that comes out of the mouths of poverty pimps on the left

You may be tempted to ignore this book because it's author is Ivanka Trump. You may think because she is from a wealthy family and her Father is President Donald J. Trump. That she came into the world with everything. But what I gained from reading her story is that she had the same needs, wants, and uncertainties we all have but she put that all aside and kept focused on developing herself personally, and in business. Often times throughout the book she mentions how important it is to have a passion. What she is talking about is simple: put yourself in the picture listen to others who are where you want to be. Be teachable too. Don't be afraid believe in yourself and go for your dreams. She did!

The word I have heard the most associated with this book is "vapid." It is indeed and it is too bad. Ivanka Trump has a platform from which to champion causes, but has no real connection to the causes she is choosing. Her frame of reference is missing or wrong. There are people who graduate out of college with graduate degrees directly into executive positions, but they sometimes lack the experience and understanding that comes from being a supervisor or leader of smaller projects. In this case, Ivanka Trump graduated out of life trained to be an heiress with clothing lines and other vanity projects named after herself on the side. She has the frame of reference of the ladies who lunch before their afternoon massages, not of women who work..

This book was very applicable to women who have full time or even part time jobs. I enjoyed hearing what works for a mom like myself. Juggling everything is difficult and Ivanka doesn't shy away from digging into the difficult topics we all face. She focuses on how to have a life you love, NOT on having it all. This is so important as a woman who works, I do make sacrifices, but I absolutely LOVE my life and I'm always looking for ways to improve my relationship with my partner, my kids, my friends and my coworkers. Ivanka discusses all these relationships and I really enjoyed that about this book. I loved the chapters on negotiating and time managment. She uses a lot of references in her discussion, so now I have a full wish list for the next books I'm going to read!

Honestly.. I picked up this book out of interest.. this is a young educated woman, she must have something to say.. she has just made clear how truly stupid the Trumps are.. or clever... if theyre being clever its because they pray on the stupid... Ivanka... This is one of the most Anti- feminist pieces I have ever skimmed through. I really dont condone putting other woman down but honestly... you are in a place of power and abusing it majorly ... Your children... what about your children

I was pleasantly surprised to find so much substance from as young a writer as Ms. Trump-Kushner. I particularly liked the collection of what’s worked for other mothers and the credit given to other women who work in their efforts and achievements in the workplace and how she applied them to her own life.

Excellent book written by an intelligent and articulate American lady. She is an accomplished business person in her own right and has much to offer other workers, men or women. Very good read and I highly recommend it

In Honored Read Created from a Poise, Fair, Beautiful and Conservative woman
First, I must say many of the reviewers are just being irrational or rude because of her position and the fact her father is president of USA which many leftist, libertarians, Muslims, and democrats are not fund of doesn't contribute the right to hatred for her literacy or disdain her literacy based on her privileged or political positions. In fact, I've came across her book in Barnes and Noble Bookstore and reviewed her literacy in was impressed that her written structure and language was in fact strong. Sure, there was a good bit of philosophical quotes from other minds but its crafted well unto her structured literacy.
I found that though I have not read the book in it's entirety, I did take delight in her quest to empower mothers, wives, and daughters to become entrepreneurs and overall capable women of work in concordance with Proverbs 31, plus there wasn't a hype feminist propaganda within the book, but more so a treasures woman tonnage with the disregard for feminism, because victimization of women wasn't a tool implemented nor improvidence, contemptuous persona and maliciousness towards men. The message was moreover, conservative, with the inspiring of women through the notions, though weren't equitable to all women for it seems more spoken to middle and high class women which makes it a little incomprehensible to low class women so there's not much tools to utilize for them as a methodological way.
Furthermore, the fact that Ivanka Trump is privilege is mainly why many individuals rates her so low because of the envious momentum or the disagreement of conservative politics.
Con:
The only disregard I have for the book is the assumption for women to become a creed of workaholic-ism which disregards that spoilage of intimacy to us men, nurturing of there younglings because women that become workaholics despair family dharma overall which later breaks the family about and has their younglings rely on the government thereby the uphold governance of the state as their directional hierarchy which later they'll become brainwashed to a Utopian vision which breaks family traditionalism, creed, conservatism, faith or doctrine, culture, and principalities. Therefore, my advice to Ivanka Trump is don't forget Titus 2v4-5.
Overall:
Ivanka writing is diligently noted overall as intelligently insightful and charitable to women, a literacy I oblige my sister to read when she is of appropriate age. The one thing that actually grasped my attention is the usage of context and wording that above simplistic reading level but is educating to readers that are lazy and constantly look for the simple writings or content which I despise.
Sincerely, John Shelton Jones, author of Awakening Kings and Princes Volume I

Great insight into setting and accomplishing goals, while balancing family and career. I started my own business when my kids were babies and it allows me to work while they're in school (great flexibility). This is the first book I've read that champions a woman's decision to work (while balancing the job of full time Mother), and promotes being successful, and continuing to grow your business or grow in your chosen career path. This experience allows my daughter to see the opportunities that she has in her future. I think Ivanka Trump is a great role model for daughters, mothers, and working women.

DO NOT TRUST THE REVIEWS WITH ONE STAR! Clearly, they hate the first family. I enjoyed the book. It's a good read. It is inspiring and motivational. I worked my way up the ladder. I was once poor. With hard work, I now earn a 6 digit salary. Even though I have read many books about the business world, communication and success in general, I found that this book reinforces those ideas. I have over 100 books in my library. This is definitely a keeper.

While i shop on the store very frequently i found some ratings in the books venues little biased as if everything on the store even if you do not click 5 stars and above they list books that are politically biased rated worst to last in reviews, While i think think the book was thin i still think this is a pondering question...do i keep shopping in a biased environment.

For example, it hyped and hyped passion. However, what many of us in glutted fields such as law and writing have learned is that making a living demands more than passion. In order to remain a writer I have had to learn new technologies, new communications approaches and revamp how I market and sell.
In the long rum, I have a hunch this book will diminish the Ivanka brand.
