This is a fascinating study of a woman who returned from the deepest pits of hell to begin a new life with the perfect man who loved her and her child with his entire heart. Two women, Angela, the wife, and Corrine, the detective, tell the story, each of them struggling with issues. For Angela, it is faith in her perfect husband; for Corinne, it is a deep desire to believe women who say they were sexually abused, while at the same time being fair to the man being accused. Angela plumbs the depths of her faith as the evidence against her husband mounts. Corinne searches out the accuser and offers her another chance to tell her story. It all seems to be working well for Angela until the accuser disappears. The novel is very well-written and easy to read. I read it in one day (but you know I did little else but read, right?). The twist is well hidden beneath the first-person narrative of Angela, who finally brings the pieces together near the end and blows your mind.

This book was enticing from the start. But, the more you read, the more interesting the story becomes.
There are many twists and turns in the story, and the characters in the book come alive as the main character's secrets are exposed.
You won't want to miss the surprises as the author takes you to the surprise ending!

I almost didn’t read this book beyond the first few pages as the typical novels I read are more literary. What is lacking in prose is more than made up for in a good story that will keep you guessing.

Unsympathetic two dimensional characters, slow go nowhere plot and an abrupt ending coming along just when the author had an opportunity to make things interesting. Short on both suspense and psychological savvy.

I took a break from mysteries/thrillers just to give my mind a break. I felt like I had been reading similar stores over and over again but I'm glad I picked this one up as my next suspense novel.

We meet Rachel and you find out she may have had a troubled past and she has a child, Spencer. She hasn't had *that* much luck with men until Jason comes along. Jason is a NYU professor and also works with a Media company. They were truly living the NYC dream. The story starts out similar to other thriller suspense (view spoiler) however I think the stillness that Rachel has about this is what got me the most. She is almost calm about it all, kind of like she expected it to happen?

There was something about The Wife that kept me intrigued the whole time. I think I was expecting the whole husband has a powerful job, he cheats on wife with a mistress, there's some domestic abuse, etc. However this was different from that. I think that this story focused more on Rachel's side of things and almost puts her in power in a weird way. Rachel has a destructive past that she is trying to protect both herself and her son from. I had a feeling she may have had a plan all along but she mostly internalized it until the end when we find out what happens.

This book had shorter chapters and I read probably 3/4ths of it yesterday alone. I would definitely recommend picking this book up!
