Complete step by step instructions on how to format and market your e-book without spending any money. Jason starts by telling you all the things he did wrong when he first tried to market his e-book and how he just wasted his money. He then explains in detail how to do for free and get even better results. Absolutely the best resource available on the subject.

Thirty years ago I used the first addition of The Professional Job Changing System to change my career completely. It was a complete manual, unlike later editions. It gave me the philosophy needed to make the change, and the details of how to do it, with examples. Jason Matthew's updated edition, mine copy is dated November 4th, 2013, of How to Make, Market and Sell Ebooks looks like it will change my life again.

I was initially a bit skeptical about this book. There are just so many redundant books out there that don't reveal anything new. Also, I thought that I was aware of everything there was to know about marketing ebooks. So why spend even a few bucks on Jason Matthew's book? But, the methods in his book really do work. I got immediate results the next day. The chapters on
Social Media; Creating Your Blog Site; Cover Design; Formatting and Uploading for Smashwords, the store and other Retailers;
were all very helpful.

You can actually promote your ebook for free these days. But, I do suggest that you invest a little money into book reviews and strategic marketing. You can get a fairly inexpensive book review at goodbookstoday.com.

I know goodreads.com has a new ppc program. You can advertise your book for as little as $5.00 on goodreads.com So first use the free methods in Jason Matthew's "How to Make, Market and Sell Ebooks - All for Free" and then spend whatever you can afford on book reviews at goodbookstoday.com and targeted online marketing at goodreads.com

I have read many books on ebook publishing and promoting and this one is by far the most informative. Every page is loaded with practical advice, tips, resources and more to take you through every step of an ebook adventure. Jason has saved me tons of time and dollars and he will do the same for you. Do not hesitate to pop this gem into your shopping cart.

I feel like the title is misleading, it have mainly I lot of links to go to and not actually telling you how to make an ebook , which is the main reason for me getting the book. It has some ok information, but not really giving you the information you expected the book to have in it.

Jason has written a very informative work without the confusing jargon. And very inspirational as well, as he shares the ups and downs of his publishing career, and what he has learn from it. I recommend this to any writer and publisher that's diving into this completing e-book field. Great job!

I was pleasantly surprised to find this much information in such a small book. Matthews gets down to the nuts and bolts of what you need to know. No unnecessary filler here, but a flood of information that has been most helpful. My only regret was that I didn't buy it sooner.

I haven't read the book completely but in skimming for info I see that it should be very helpful. It seems easy to understand and I love that the author also has a pdf version that is helpful if one is using a computer than than a reader to access links and to work on a larger format. Will review again later. Lh

Jason learned every free trick on the internet, and lists them all. The free information contained in this book will save hundreds of dollars, and more importantly, hundreds of hours of your time. It is the real deal. The book is full of easy to implement methods for creating websites, blogs, and includes easy methods to establish a network of potential readers/buyers. well worth the read as i learn allot from this book.

This book delivers everything it claims it will deliver and more; how refreshing is that? Part of the "and more" is Jason's availability. He will answer questions and encourage; he has created models and examples; I'm convinced you could drop by his house and he would welcome you in, crank up his computer, and give you a live demo. I am half way through the book and I've built a web site, found over a 100 friends on Facebook, published my book on Kindle and Smashwords, and cranked up a nice blog and revived two others. I can hardly imagine what will happen in the second half. With this book you will have no need for another one on the subject.

After years of reading the store reviews this is the first I have written. This book deserves to be acknowledged as the best book on self-publishing that I have read. It is well written, clear, organized, and helpful beyond belief! I have worked in the publishing field for years and really this is the first book that I would recommend. Buy it!

I was a little skeptical at first because the price was so low. I can honestly say after reading it that it packs a powerful punch. Whether your book is complete or not, How to Make, Market and Sell Ebooks - All for Free by Jason Matthews is the best (small) investment you can make as a eBook author.

IN THE INTRODUCTION OF YOUR EBOOK, YOUR STRUGGLE TO SELL YOUR
WRITINGS TO AGENTS AND PUBLISHERS WAS MY STORY AS WELL. I SPENT
MONEY, TIME, AND EXERTED ENORMOUS EFFORTS IN THAT PURSUIT. MY WIFE,
JEANNE (A NORTH CAROLINA GIRL), ALSO GAVE HER ALL IN TYPING AND
EDITING.

NOW, THE PLAYING FIELD HAS BEEN LEVELED SO THAT WRITERS CAN ACTUALLY
PUBLISH THEIR EBOOKS AND BYPASS ALL THE AGGRAVATION AND
FRUSTRATION. PUBLISHING IS ONLY HALF OF WHAT IS NEEDED IN ORDER TO
SELL AND MARKET EBOOKS. THIS IS WHERE YOUR EXPERTISE IN EBOOK
MARKETING COMES IN. I WOULD RECOMMEND TO ANY WRITER THAT YOUR EBOOK,
HOW TO MAKE, MARKET AND SELL EBOOKS - ALL FOR FREE, BE PURCHASED AND
USED AS THEIR MARKETING BIBLE.

I HAVE PUBLISHED THREE (3) EBOOKS ON KINDLE AND AS PER YOUR ADVICE I
AM USING GOOGLE ALERTS GOING TO BLOG SITES. AM I DOING IT RIGHT?

BEST WISHES FOR YOUR CONTINUED SUCCESS! I WOULD APPRECIATE A PDF
COPY OF YOUR BOOK AND ANY ADVICE YOU CARE TO OFFER.

My book that I have written is about 90% complete, and I have a general idea how to proceed. But how little I knew came as a major surprise! I found Jason's book extremely enlightening. There is so much information, I will be reading many sections again. As helpful as I found the book to be, I wish there had been a small section on getting a copyright. But I would, and will, recommend this book to anyone who wishes to publish a book!!

This is cutting edge stuff from the store.com

Jason has outlined the means by which any writer can exploit the newest trends in publishing and short circuit the months, if not years, of pounding on the doors of agents and then publishers. He shows how we can cut to the chase by using the tools of internet now at hand. Well done!

This book is the biggest bargain on the store.com

Pretty good, easy to follow. The section on website keywords may be outdated. A web search for any site including the .webs.com ending, seems to favor free website creating keywords, and not the term prior to the .web.com website name. i.e. your ebook title, or whatever you are promoting. Follow the progress of a book being promoted by these techniques: Malleable

Excellent book for starters. Though most of the information is readily available on the internet, this books puts them all together in one place, saving us a lot of money and time. Definitely value for money!!

Found much valuable insight in this book. However, this is one of many books that came out on this (sort) of topic, seemingly within a two to three year period. Whether this is the best of these, I can't remember. It is valuable and useful, though. Include this on if you mean to self-publish and/or market your book.

I have read only the beginning chapters, but Jason Matthews makes it sound simple and logical. This may take me a while, but I now have hope! I will try and get connected with him through LinkedIn. I am author of Passion for Tea (print and Kindle on the store), and I hope to also make it an ebook, along with several fiction works. Thanks, Jason --

If you are thinking about writing an ebook, in the process of doing so or have already written your book, you will benefit from the ideas and suggestions provide by Jason Matthews in his book "How to Make, Market and Sell Ebooks - All for FREE". I am the author of three ebooks, with at least one more planned for the near future. Before reading Matthews' book, I knew that I didn't know everything there was to know about ebooks, but I was surprised by how much I didn't know. For example, if you want your ebook available on all of the formats .pdf, .epub, .mobi, .txt, .lrf, .rtf, and .pdb, you need to keep things simple avoiding complicated or fancy formatting - don't use or refer to page numbers as e-readers are not like books in that they don't have page numbers.

Matthews begins by describing how he attempted to promote his books in the past by throwing some money at it and waiting for the returns to roll in. As with most authors, he found that this is not the path to riches but rather to rags. He had to find a different way.

His approach is to invest in "sweat equity" and to take advantage of the free or low cost tools and resources available on the internet.

Major chapters include: Social Media; Creating Your Blog Site; Cover Design; Formatting and Uploading for Smashwords, the store and other Retailers; Formatting for Your Sites, Making Your own Conversions; Creating Your Website; SEO (Search Engine Optimization); Preparing Your Website for Ebook Sales; Selling Your Ebook from Your Websites; PR (Public Relations).

In the vast majority of cases, Matthews provides sufficient information and detail for you to implement his approach. In the few instances where the implementation is more complicated, he provides an overview and then directs you to an on-line reference for more detail.

Certainly a book worth reading.

I recently purchased Jason's e-book "How to Make, Market & Sell e-books", and wanted to share my thoughts. I have been researching the idea of creating and publishing my own sales & marketing books. I'm amazed that I ran across Jason's book... it was full of valuable information that will help any person who is interested in creating, publishing & marketing their own book.

Jason's book is easy to read, and has step by step directions regarding the creation and publishing of your own e-book. His book will literally save you thousands of dollars of potentially wasted time and costs incurred trying to self-publish your own material.

The book is full of easy to implement methods for creating websites, blogs, and includes easy methods to establish a network of potential readers/buyers!

If you are interested in writing & publishing your own books, I suggest you buy Jason's book first. It will certainly help you, and investment is very fair compared to the information he provides.

Thanks Jason & good luck to those of you interested in writing & publishing your own e-books!

There really isn't anything to recommend this ebook. There are so many better books without all the personal stories (which don't add a speck of substance to the book). Very little detail about how to format the book, not much on marketing your book that wasn't probably gleaned from elsewhere. For formatting and ebook design, get Stephanie Zia or Kate Harper instead (Kate writes about articles but it's excellent detail about formatting for Kindle); for marketing go with John Locke or the Smashwords ebook. Really, this one's too thin, too useless for a serious writer/publisher to find useful.

Matthews previews the book's content early with the following: "I will only market my books in ways that are free or extremely cheap! Guess what? The free stuff actually works better than the expensive stuff. Who knew?"

We learn from experience - either our own, or the experiences of others. We also learn from both good and bad experiences. Thank goodness! Though I'd love to learn from good experiences of my own, I'm most grateful to learn from the bad experiences of others. I'm quite happy to learn from their mistakes.

From Matthews, I get to learn both. He candidly begins with his own background story and openly cautions first about the costly mistakes he made in the beginning. Thank you, Jason Matthews. With the "to avoid" list noted, it's much easier to focus on the strategies and techniques that have proven beneficial and profitable for Matthews and other indie authors on the same path.

With the soaring popularity of Kindle and other eBook formats, sales potential is huge even for the brand new indie author. Even better, the overhead is minimal, so taking your shot as an author costs mostly your time and effort. Matthews shows you how to best spend both.

Though my primary purpose for initially buying the book was the in-depth section reviewing online payment methods and selling eBooks from one's own web site, I quickly found value in multiple topics:
* Social Media
* Blogs
* Google Alerts
* Forums
* Your Own Web Site/Domain Name
* Keywords
* SEO
* Blogging
* eBook Covers
* Photos and images
* Software
* Formatting
* Online Publishing and Distribution (Smashwords, PubIt, the store, etc.)
* eBook readers, devices, software
* Selling through your own web site
* Free web site creation and hosting
* Promotion
* Reviews
...all from the perspective of an author (not a band, not an internet marketer, not an ecological non-profit group - an author).

There are plenty of resources available on all these topics, but examining them from the perspective of an author focuses us on how they are best used by authors.

The scope of the book is comprehensive for the entire writing process - which does not end at the final page of one's book. Writing the book is just one part. Marketing and networking often take more effort than actual writing.

Most useful in the mass of information, Matthews includes links to even more resources and examples. As a guide for indie authors, How to Make, Market, and Sell eBooks All For Free is a gem of a reference. As a nudge and a point in the right direction, it is priceless.

It certainly answered my questions about selling eBooks from my own web site - and then, some.

Jason Matthews also hosts an online cable network show on HangoutNetworks.com where he and other indie authors discuss all things writing. Tune in live each week or enjoy the archived episodes of Indie Authors on Hangout Networks.

A lot of research must have gone into the preparation of these 57 pages,
brimming with useful information. It is a comprehensive read for both, the
novice who is toying with the idea of creating or marketing an ebook and the
more advanced reader who has already done some research himself. As I'm at
the cusp of publishing a novel myself, it fell in my hands (onto
my laptop) at the right time.
It deals with every aspect of making and marketing a book, from its beginnings in whatever format you created it to its end result in the appropriate format, i.e. different sites that deal with ebooks (for sale or for free) have different requirements.
A big part of the book deals with Social Networking Sites and related
issues as that's likely where you are going to post information about your
upcoming book or the one you have just published.
As a newbie on the given exemplary sites - social media- (Facebook,
Twitter,Linked-in) etc, I found the concise description of how they work and how
you can make them work for you helpful. The author injects interesting comments that turned out to be useful, e.g. comment on Twitter and their number of
followers.
The info on Yahoo Answers and the store I had to put to the test
immediately, which sent me of on a tangent of hands-on testing.This proved
successfully and satisfying immediately. ( I answered questions posted on
Yahoo Answers on Dating and Relationship and was voted Best Answer!Congrats!
at the first attempt. It showed me a hitherto unexplored way of how to
establish my credentials as dating guru. (Aha! Yes,my book is on dating).
I loved the author's tip about Google Alerts. They provided material for 3 postings on the first day.
The chapter on 'Create your blog' was thoroughly presented. I wish I had
read this info before axing my way through the blogging jungle by myself.
Regarding Create your Website: There are whole books written on that topic
and that's how website creating companies make their money. Considering
that, the author concentrated on the imported factor of how to create a website
for free, which will appeal to many.That chapter -as well as the one about
your blog- is packed with resources, free naturally, that I still have to look
into. Same applies for cover making design.
The chapter on downloading I skipped as I have in-house IT consultant who has already looked into that part for me.
Overall, a must read for any aspiring author, ebook or otherwise.

This review is very, very overdue. When I first met Jason on Authonomy I had no idea I would become a self published author, with his help. I was struggling along, just trying to learn the ropes, unsure what direction to take. Since I picked up his amazing book I have learned so much about self publishing, gained confidence in the knowledge that I do in fact know what I'm doing, and begun to sell my very first novel online, The Heart's Discovery.

Thanks not only to this book (and the awesome writer behind it) but the facebook group and hangout group I now belong to (Indie Author Show on the Google Hangout Network every Monday evening) I have figured a lot of this out and remained somewhat sane. I have learned about SEO, how to set up my own online bookstore, how to upload my book to Kindle, Barnes and Noble and Smashwords and how to (easily) convert my little word file to kindle format, epub, pdf and mobi and get it into the hands of those who want to read it. Thank you Jason, for writing such a fantastic, easy to follow book. Thank you also for the support you gave me (and continue to give me) even AFTER I bought the book. You are amazing. And so is your little book.
