I was pleasantly surprised with how entertaining and original the storyline was. Enjoyed the twists and turns the author brought into the experiences of the resurrected. I was also pleased that the resurrected included people of all race and religion even though the focus was on Jewish beliefs. Amusing and a page turner. Even the ending was a pleasant surprise. A very good read indeed.

When I first started reading I found it very interesting, but a little funny too. I am not sure how I would react to waking up naked in a cemetery, but probably going to family would be where I would start, after finding fig leafs to cover my self. 8>)

This was an interesting read. The plot was novel and really gave me an opportunity to consider the how of the resurrection and challenged the religious assumptions of exclusivity. I liked that the author did not fall into unnecessary love triangles. I will read the next one.

Ignorant of Jewish belief I can only assume this is inspired by their End of Time notions. It is great to see a fresh perspective of what might be. This is about society in a nifty setting; How humans react to each other and to unexpected events. I was able to look up all the words I didn't recognize this time. Looking forward to more of this story! Recommend

Having received an advanced copy of the book, I can honestly say that I thoroughly enjoyed reading this latest offering from Dan Sofer. I particularly enjoyed, what I thought was a very real look at the results of resurrection. I thought the character development was excellent and I really got to know the many characters in the book. It was also interesting to see how the various character plot lines intertwined. I really could not put the book down and cannot wait for the second book in the series to come out.

This was a good read- kept me interested and engaged until the end. I enjoy learning a bit about life in Israel today as a side benefit. I look forward to my next read from Dan Sofer. I received an advance copy of this book in return for an honest review.

I received an advanced copy of An Unexpected Afterlife and was very intrigued by the creative storyline. This is not like any book I've ever read (in a good way) and it kept me guessing until the very end.

This novel is fascinating. I enjoyed reading it. The reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 was because there were some areas where I lost interest. I'm not Jewish and I struggled with some of the long discussions involving doctrirne. I'm glad I read all of it, because I did enjoy it overall I would recommend it and I look foward to the next one. It's fun to read a novel about the Resurrection.

If you are looking for something different this is it. I was hooked right from the beginning. A really different plot with endless possibilities. Once you start the book you have to find out how it ends.

Well written and a good premise. Often self publishing authors are either full of clichés or the plot is predictable. This book manages to avoid both of these and is an entertaining read. Not overly religious either - there are references to the Talmud etc but it is not pushing any kind of religious agenda, just exploring an interesting hypothetical situation for mankind in general.

Science Fiction? Not quite. Religious fiction? Hmmm. I guess. Compelling? Quite. The narrative began a bit slow, but intensified in both pace and complexity. This book is the first in a series. I am definitely hooked. I care about the characters. I want to know what happens next.

Dan Sofer has done a wonderful job tackling a complex and loaded subject - in a light-hearted plot, full of witty dialog and thoughts - all this with a very serious undertone, which the reader can choose to develop in their mind - or just enjoy the ride.
Looking forward to reading more of your work, Dan!

Enjoyable book to read! Really liked the characters. Also makes me think - about faith, family and where is my focus in life. If you just get one life, are you living it as he beat life ever or is it still to come?
