This story is well written and keeps your attention. Needs to be a motion picture. Thank you France for helping the Allies as you did. As an American and lover of freedom, I now understand after reading this incredible story, that I have a debt of gratitude to the French. I highly recommend this book.

Excellent book. Very well-written, thoughtful and thought-provoking account of the author's grandfather's escape from Nazi-occupied France during WWII. Not a topic that I knew a lot about, but I feel that I really learned from this book and was impressed with the level of detail and information. Very, very engaging story, and one of those "can't put it down" books.

LOVED this book. What a fantastic tribute to not only an heroic American airman, but to the many amazing and incredibly brave men and women of the French Resistance. I could not put the book down and it will certainly be one that I will reflect on over the coming months. The story is researched and written by the authors grandson and I can not even imagine the life changing journey it must have been to research this book. This would be a great book club suggestion, as there are many topics to reflect on and discuss!

Just a terrific story so very well told and reminds us of Nazi cruelty and allied bravery. Not just that but the efforts of ordinary French people in their resistance. But its just a great read about a involuntary adventure by heros who did what they had to do once asked. Read this book.

Great book with lots of sources included. This book opened my eyes to things I never knew about the war and kept me on my toes. I bought the book after seeing the movie trailer which looks really good. I highly recommend this read.

Just finished this marvelous story; anyone interested in World War II true stories will welcome this addition to their knowledge base. It was particularly poignant for me because my father was also stationed at Seething Air Force Base at the very same time, but was able to complete his missions in relative safety. Seth Meyerovitz' recounting of his grandfather's harrowing journey is very well written, and I too appreciated the opportunity to learn more about the French Resistance and the incredible bravery and commitment of those men and women of France who made such a difference. Arthur Meyerovitz was a remarkable American hero.

Very interesting story and very well told. I love how it incorporated the true story but yet read like a adventure novel opposed to a biography/documentary style. Hope to read more from this author in the future.

The Lost Airman by seth Meyerowitz is,a true tale of his grandfather fight for freedom after being shot down in 1943. To quote Tennessee williams I've often counted on the kindness of strangers in this tale Arthur Meyerowitz is the benefit of strangers who put their own lives on the line to gelp him return
I found this book griping scary abd those involved from arthur to those on down brave.
I urge everyone read and appreciate our freedom
War tests people arthur passed this one

I really enjoyed reading this book. For such a heavy topic, I found the book easy to read and it had many enjoyable moments. This book could be read cover to cover in one sitting vs having to set it down after each chapter due to mental overload. I look forward to future books written by Seth Meyerowitz.

What a beautiful and inspirational story of a remarkable Airman during World War 11. A must read for history lovers.
I never realized how so many French citizens helped our soldiers during the war rescuing them and getting them to safely
and what our Airman went through to survive. The greatest generation. A very emotional story. I loved it
I have been a history buff since I was in high school - many years ago. So inspiring.

I really enjoyed this book. It goes into great detail about this harrowing experience by a young WWII B-24 flight engineer. Very well written. You can feel the stress on Arthur as he makes his way back to allied territory. If you like true WWII stories you will find it difficult to put this book down. Arthur gets back home but there are some tragic final aspects to the people who risked their lives to help him.

This well written, exciting book is a wonderful read. Anyone interested in World War II and/or heroism of the higher order, including the intricate and creative workings and efforts of the French Resistance, will find this book extremely enjoyable and informative.

While reading it, I could not wait to see what would happen next in this excellently told story, and I recommend it highly. To use a cliche, it’s a page turner. Five Stars.

Amazing balance of a well researched book together with a feeling that the reader knows Arthur personally. Brings home how lucky we are to live in the world today, when only just over 70 years, atrocities were taking place. This is a book I couldn't put down. You must buy it!

Absolutely a stunningly amazing read. It's highly documented, incredibly told and I read it in a few days just because I got completely entranced. War is horrible, we all know this, but the gall and bravery of this man and everyone involved in getting these people to safety is astonishing. On my top 10 list of best books I've ever read.

Was a great read that I tore through very quickly.

It was a well researched book with lots of details that kept it interesting for me. The author's own travels to that region of the world, clearly helped with unearthing information and photos of the people involved with his grandfather's journey.

What an incredible story. How he survived the evil he faced is a miracle. The way he fooled the gestapo was incredible even with the beating he took. This story shows why they are the greatest generation.
