The book was very detailed which was great but at times confusing. I noticed I was focusing on keeping all the names and places straight rather than what I was actually reading.still a great book though!

I give Ryan Jenkins 2 stars only because he means well and because the stories in and of themselves are compelling.

I am a "serious" student of World War II and if you are as well, you will be disappointed in Ryan Jenkins' series of books he has e-published on the the store platform - he has no academic training or real sophisticated knowledge of WWII or the Holocaust. These are not serious books/studies. There are no endnotes, references to academic studies, etc. It's just one layperson's generalizations about European history. This guy is not a scholar. Please do not "buy" these books on that assumption. If you want some fast reading and you won't take his writing and opinions seriously, get the book for free on the store Unlimited and read the book for the experiences only. I couldn't get over the fact that at the beginning of this book, he kept saying that the Nazis wanted the Jews "irradiated." I think he meant "eradicated" and not "injected with radiation." :-) That's the type of person who wrote the book. Keep your expectations very low or go to something from a "real" scholar. I highly recommend any of Timothy Snyder's books on the Holocaust/WWII.

Very informational, but I wouldn't base a report off it. Multiple spelling and grammatical errors make the content sometimes difficult to understand. I appreciated all the testimonies from the victims and survivors - those in itself redeemed the book by far. I wish there were more eyewitness accounts, perhaps more about life within the camp. As I said, I wouldn't write a report solely off of this book - I would research more through multiple sources to corroborate stories and facts. Otherwise, a good read that kept me going.

This book is full of inaccurate information, and it is written in a very disorganized manner. I found myself wondering if this was a high school paper or project...At the beginning of the book, the author, in trying to explain Nazi hatred for Jews, implied that Christianity existed before Judaism. I don't recommend this to anyone interested in learning factual information.

This book is full of grammar issues and is historically wrong in many places.in the first chapter he started that Hitler was a spy during WWI anyone even remotely familiar with WW2 history knows that he was a Corporal in the German Army and spent the war as a Currier, for all you who gave this travesty more than one star that means he was a person who ran messages from the front to the rear echelon. It also states that the Jews were his first targets, that is also inaccurate, his first targets were the mentally ill, tge developmentally disabled, homosexuales, and others that were deemed not fit. This is one of the worse books I have ever tried to read, save your time and frustration.

This is an excellent book. I have learned a great deal about the Holocaust. I have seen numerous documentaries but they do not let you see it from the survivors eyes.

Don't ever forget this horrible injustice. God bless their souls.

This book provided descriptions of what went on at Auschwitz from persons on the receiving end of the persecution , as well as from one of the commandants on the side meting out the torture, Rudolf Hoss. While the eyewitness accounts were emotional and tear-jerking, for me at least, helping you to see the depth of the atrocities which took place, Hoss's version was plain, cold hard facts. His was simply an account of what took place at Auschwitz in a very matter of fact way, devoid of any personal feeling over his involvement. It is mind-boggling how one could reduce the value of life so much, to the point where there is complete detachment, as if you are just taking out the trash. It was very sad to see how barbaric humankind has been and in other ways, atrocities still continue today in our çivilized times'. If your heart can take it, I would certainly recommend this book. It was very edifying for me and also had me emotionally involved.

Thought provoking and very interesting. I read this book before, during and after my visit to Auschwitz and it ties in exactly with everything learnt during my visit to the camps. I will never forget what these poor people went through. Extremely humbling.

This book needs to be read and although incredibly heartbreaking, should never be forgotten. Sadly antisemitism is still going on in these times . How anyone can attack and harm anyone for their faith and belief is beyond me.

Recommended for any person willing to learn more about real heroes of the Holocaust. Several accounts will bring tears to your eyes, a harrowing eye opener for those unfamiliar with such a dark era in human history.

Many say it's important to read accounts about the WWII Nazi concentration/death camps, for one reason, so that it will never happen again. But here we are in the 21st century and not only is it still happening, but we are watching it happen on our television sets and even seeing and hearing the perpetrators laugh and brag and taunt us about it. Ethnic, religious, political, tribal, even gender and mythic hatreds run so deep in today's world, I fail to see how one could successfully use the lessons of history to ameliorate the current problems.

I have been expanding my knowledge of WWII this year by reading books depicting many accounts of the war and the prison camps. I have previously purchased Ryan Jenkins books and look forward to buying more. Although the write up is not absolutely outstanding, his books provide just enough material to get a nice overview about the topic.
This is another good book and I like that the author provided such a detailed overview that did not big the reader down. Of course it was heartbreaking to read about the camp and the methods of killing and cruelty. I salute those people who showed courage and bravery to face such inhumane cruel situation. This book also covers information about the origin of Auschwitz , Auschwitz I , Witold Pileki and the Auschwitz-Birkenau. It also contained the account of Rudolf Hoss who was responsible for directing the camp and many of its tools of mass extermination. I will rate this book with 5 stars and I am looking forward to purchasing more books on history and WWII. Good read – short, simple, and to the point.

This is a remarkable ebook on the survivors of the death camps and what went on there and what was done to all these people. I say that those that did these horrible acts to all these people got off to easy.
