Very good resource for anyone getting into adwords. Required reading for anyone who manages large or multiple campaigns.

I've always considered myself to be pretty good at managing ppc accounts, but I discovered I was making some mistakes with a few of my negative keyword match types. I made the changes, and within one week saw an increase of around 10% in impressions (and significantly more clicks) for a targeted keyword. It's little nuggets like this, scattered throughout the book, that keep it on my desk.

Some other things this book has clarified for me:

- recommended bid structure for multiple match type keywords within the same ad group.
- best practices for geo-targeted campaigns, and how not to shoot yourself in the foot.
- solid advice on improving quality score and the different factors related to position quality score.
- great tips for doing in-depth keyword research and best practices for setting up keyword lists. (extremely helpful if you do organic SEO as well.)

I could go on, but I think you get the idea. Just pick it up today, before your competitors learn these methods.

Brad Geddes has a knack for translating complex concepts into easy-to-understand information. I'm also a search engine marketer - I've heard Brad speak many times over the years and always send my staff to his "Seminars for Success." I'm thrilled that he's published a book, which my team can use as a manual on an ongoing basis. `Advanced Google AdWords' is a superb overview of Google AdWords. It starts at a beginner level and goes step-by-step through the strategies and tactics for setting up and managing campaigns. The book also includes plenty of advanced content, even covering topics like Google's content network, image and video ads, and understanding reporting data. Specific screen shots and examples are included, which help illustrate each point. `Advanced Google AdWords' should be required reading for anyone, at any experience level, who's advertising on AdWords.

If you read just one book about Google AdWords, this should be the one. It starts where the AdWords Learning Center and Learn with Google leave off. Every aspect of mastering this powerful advertising medium is thoroughly covered with plenty of examples to give you ideas for your own account(s).
It also includes important subjects that are not directly part of AdWords itself, but essential to your success, like landing pages and goal setting. By the way: I'd recommend reading 'Setting your marketing goals' (part of Chapter 13) before applying anything else in your account. Setting specific goals based on your business model is the most important thing you can do, yet many advertisers do not think hard enough about which goals will make them a profit.

The second edition is completely updated on topics like: modified broad match, advanced organizational techniques for match types, the AdWords Keyword Tool, analyzing the effects of discounts in ad copy on ROAS, Ad Extensions, Quality Score, new reporting features, mobile ads, YouTube ads, the Display Network (Contextual Targeting Tool, campaign settings, remarketing, topic targeting, interest targeting), AdWords Editor, conversion tracking (view-through conversions), bidding options (enhanced CPC, target vs. max CPA, automated rules), the Search Funnel report, AdWords Campaign Experiments, Custom Alerts, and many other changes that have taken place the past 2 years.

It's the kind of book that you will keep within reach while working on your campaigns, giving you a strong theoretical framework and practical guidelines to improve your results.
And if you're competing against me on AdWords, forget all I said and don't buy this book ;-).

If you are serious about PPC management you need to get this book. It doesn't read like someone is just spewing everything they know about the subject like a lot of books you read today. I feel like I'm being taught by someone that is a real teacher. Every time I read a chapter, I feel like I'm more of an expert than I was before. And this is AFTER reading numerous other PPC books! Good stuff.

Part of my purchase decision to buy this book was the $50 voucher for Google Adwords, which is promoted in HUGE BOLD text at the TOP of the back cover.

I bought the book only to find that the $50 voucher/gift certificate only applies to NEW Adwords accounts! No special conditions mentioned here (not even the cliche' asterix* referring me to any fine print).

It was only when I purchased and read the REALLY FINE PRINT in PINK FONT AGAINST A RED BACKGROUND (!!!) did it let me know that I was suckered in!!!

This is from an author who states in the very OPENING line of the INTRODUCTION under the heading:-

"Who Should Read This Book",

...that his book is...

quote: "written for people who have a solid understanding of AdWords and have opened and managed their own accounts" (from very top of page xxi)

Now tell me?! What good is a voucher for a NEW ACCOUNT for people who have ALREADY "opened and managed their own accounts"?!?!?

Now - I can hear you ask, "So - I'll just open another account!" The futility of doing this to one side - on page 424 the author who's giving you this free $50 voucher advises against opening a new account: Quote, "Each business should only have one account" as "Only one ad per website would be shown on a search results page"

So - you're essentially giving me a voucher which is marketed to people who can't use it - and if they try - he essentially advises against it!!!

Talk about a "Ploy"... Aren't there laws against this sort of thing?!

Nice con Mr. Author - congratulations - it worked on me!

(Oh! Also there are serious errors on how to calculate various profits... If you do it that way... You're going to be WAY OUT).

This book is incredibly good. I had tried to use Adwords with no understanding and little success. This book explains how Adwords works and how to make it work for you. if you are going to use Adwords to promote your business you should read this book and have it on your bookshelf .

This book is excellent! I both teach Google AdWords and implement Google AdWords, and this book is very helpful in both regards. A nice mix of instructions and how to along with some why things are done. In sum, the book is top notch!

Not being what anyone would call a professional in the field, I wasn't sure this was the book for me. However, the author really does a great job of explaining some very compex theories and principles clearly in a way even someone with just a basic understanding can grasp. By the time you're done you truly feel, "Advanced." Having said that, it's clear that the more experienced user will gleam even more from the pages and I look forward to coming back to the book and learning something new each time. This is a book that I will be able to refer to over and over again.

This book is one of the definitive handbooks on Google Adwords and paid search marketing. No stone left unturned, and even better that it stays up to date with this second edition. Simply put, it is a must have for every internet marketer using Google Adwords.
