A comedy romance. Nice story, not awesome. Not deep, in some moments even rediculous. Spoilers. *****
One of those moments is the way student is talking to the h because he has crush on her. The problem is that he sounds at least.. naive. Another moment is how deeply in love they are in almost 3 years and doesn't get the signal from each other. 3 years they spent every day, (plus weekends) together, but both are doubtful about that the other person's feelings. No, not doubtful, the H believes that she is not into him and the vice versa. Then when they make the step to become a couple they get married in matter of a few days because of a "stupid reason". They just wanted to find excuse to get married but was too simple and childish. Then they doesn't hook up until after the wading.. Give me a break! I waited for them to hook up for too long and finally when they did, got bored of so many pages non stop sexual scenes. For me was 3/4 of the book nothing and the 1/4 too much. Then was over. However, it was a pleasure to read, just in the end I stopped caring. Overall, definitely not bad.

This one had me laughing so hard from ththe first chapter, and she just keeps getting better and better. The Male lead has the same name of my very first boyfriend (like elementary school age) so I couldn't help but chuckle. The whole story was so sweet and I cant wait for her next release

This book was exactly what I needed. Friends to lovers that gives enough context for the foundation of their friendship but picks up at just the right turning point. Lots of laughs and warm fuzzies. If you’re looking for a rom com that reads quickly, this nails it!

Completely ridiculous and unbelievable, but a fun and engaging read. Particularly loved that the "oh no everything is ruined" moment wasn't a brooding furious misunderstanding but rather a funny mistake. Really enjoyed this one.

Absolute new favorite of RS Grey's books. The characters came to life in the very first charity and I grew to love them both quickly. Flirty, fun, sexy, and silly - the perfect read which was impossible to put down.

Good to read about good guy especially one whose ‘not so niceness’ is completely innocuous. Loved both the characters and their lives both together and at school. Good, easy and sex quotient is reasonable.

*ARC provided by author in exchange for an honest review.

Well, it's no secret I absolutely love everything by R.S. Grey. She has an amazing voice when it comes to rom-com, and is definitely one of the best I've read in this genre. And let me tell you, this book did not disappoint.

The only thing I would I have to say that saddened me was that IT WAS TOO SHORT.

This is a short story that felt more like a novella, but either way, it was incredibly awesome and funny and everything I needed to get me out of this freaking book slump I've been in for the last couple of months. I hadn't read a single book in two months, and the ones I did try to read, ended up boring me way too much. But this? This brought me back to life haha. I swear.

So, thank you, Rachel.

Ok now, about the story. This is a best friends-turn to lovers kind of book, and seriously, one of the best I've read. We have two characters, Sam and Ian who've been best friends for three years and have always managed to hide their feelings for each other the whole time, plus it seemed like it was never the right time for them. They have an amazing relationship, with inside jokes, shared lunches, everything. Sam is super funny, she's the kind of girl that freaks out about everything so of course, everything happens to her. Ian, in the other hand, manages to face and fix everything in a calm way. But want to know something? He's funny as hell too. Their humor is different from each other, but they'll both get a laugh out from you more than once.

Ian, I love you. There's nothing else I'd like to say about that.

When life happens, they must take action to keep their jobs and maybe see what can come out of their relationship. Could it be more? Could they end up not being right for each other? That's something they'll have to find out. The reason I don't give this 5 stars is because everything was fixed pretty easily. I think the book had all the potential to have gone a bit deeper into each other's relationships with other people, not just theirs. So everything from the big problem, to the solution happened pretty fast.

So, if you're looking for a funny book, R.S. Grey is the MASTER of rom-com. Seriously, everything I've read by her is funny, entertaining, swoon-worthy and amazing. Her lead female characters are always awkward and just awesomely relatable. They're far from being perfect and that's what I like most about them. The guys, they're always, ALWAYS super hot and perfect in some way or other, but the thing it doesn't feel unrealistic. Both characters are pretty amazing.

I highly recommend this.

Samantha Abrams has had a crush on Ian Fletcher since the day they met. From teaching at the same school to spending the majority of their free time together, the friendship they share is better than any relationship she has ever had.

Although Sam is super attracted to Ian, she feels like he is way out of her league, while he has been dating supermodel pretty women, there is no way she could possibly compete. So her frequent sexy dreams that involve him will just have to continue to be the closest she will ever get to him romantically.

But, when the entire school finds out that Sam and Ian haven't been dating this entire time, her BFF suddenly starts to show a completely new side to him that she never saw coming...

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I adored this book so much!! It was one of the absolute best friends to lovers story that I have ever read... and I read A LOT!! Hilarious and incredibly sexy, I was head over heels in love with Sam and Ian and every single one of their adorable antics.
Sam is a total over thinker. Determined to never act on her attraction to Ian, she loves him from afar while keeping their friendship as solid as ever. She was such an intelligent, quirky, and fun character, and I couldn't get enough of how much Ian loved her for every single aspect of her personality.
"I'm a guy who's in love with his best friend, a woman who seems to eat her cake but also keep it in a hermetically sealed cryopreservation tank for all eternity."
Ian has harbored his own feelings for Sam, but has felt comfortable keeping them under wraps until he can gradually get her to a place where she might actually accept the gradual change from just friends to everything. But, now that all the single men at school are suddenly clamoring for Sam's attention, Ian decides it's time to act... and the quicker the better.
This authors writing is always like a breath of fresh air, I feel like I love every book of hers better than the last, but it would be impossible for me to ever choose a favorite. Not So Nice Guy was another amazing example of this phenomenon, and is currently my favorite... until her next release.
I received a complimentary copy of this book for my honest and unbiased review.
I have enjoyed reading some of this author's book but first time writing a review. I enjoy ROMCOM but I guess I'm not a fan of it being too much. There are authors that add wit and humor that will make LOL but this one I find it to be too hard. It's like watching a comedy movie and you're one of the few that doesn't laugh coz either it's corny or just "really?" kind of comedy. I felt the romance was lost in the comedy to the point that though it's fiction it's over board of the situation to be happening. As what the other reviewer said, it took awhile for the ball to drop and kinda lost my interest after.
R.S. Grey’s vibrancy shines through as she puts her unique spin on the friends to lovers trope in “No So Nice Guy.” A story about two teachers who met while starting to work at the same school a few years back but because of a series of unfortunate miscommunications end up repressing their true feelings for one another but becoming best friends.
Sam has spent fantasizing about her incredibly attractive co-worker and best friend Ian for the past three years. But it’s not that bad, they’re so in synch with one another – they have a Blue Apron subscription together and have West Wing Wednesday – everyone thinks they’re actually dating until a new teacher asks about their relationship and she’s forced to clarify that they are in fact “just friends.” Chaos ensues. All the single teachers are now after Ian or Sam or both!
Ian has had to hide his very big feelings for Sam for what feels like forever. And now he has to endure watching the male teachers woo her with Valentine’s Day teddy bears and roses? No way! It’s time for him to ditch his nice guy veneer, sabotage everyone else and pave the way for his own seduction of his best friend. He’s sensed her attraction to him, but what if she’s not on board with wanting more?
Grey pens a delightfully addicting novel with the perfect blend of sexual tension, hilariousness, witty banter and endearing romance.
Ian and Sam are both loveable characters who are a perfect match. He’s the witty, cool and collected sexy guy to her crazy over the top dramatic effervescence. They both burst off the pages with irresistible liveliness.
The book has numerous elements to like and fall in love with, but a significant amount of the novel’s enjoyment comes from Grey’s humor and inventive one-liners that kept me with a perma-smile throughout the story.
Not So Nice Guy is a full length contemporary romance by R.S. Grey. It is a standalone friends to lovers rom-com, told from both points of view with a happily ever after, no cliffhanger.
ALL HAIL RACHEL, ROM COM QUEEN EXTRAORDINAIRE!!!!! I honestly don't know how Rachel does it. Every single time I finish reading one of her books they become my favorite. Honestly, don't make me choose because I can't. And once again, it's no different with Not So Nice Guy. OMFG, this book just had me smiling the whole way through. And laughing, let's not forget laughing. In fact, I laughed so much I spit my water countless times, a spraying mess all over my shirt. I couldn't get enough of this book. I couldn't get enough of Ian and Sam. I just couldn't get enough. I wanted more more more.
Ian and Sam have been best friends for three years. Both secretly have feelings for each other without the other knowing. Though they're afraid to make a move and destroy their friendship. But a phone call will ultimately be the reason Ian can't hide his feelings from Sam much longer. And thus begins a hilarious, slow burn goodness to this friends to lovers story.
Gahhhhhhh!!! I seriously can't. I'm a giddy mess over here. I'm giddy over Ian and Sam. These two were every good thing! Their banter was laugh out loud funny. Their chemistry is undeniable. They were cute and so adorable. Ian, oooh lord he had me swooning. He was every bit perfection. The way he cared, adored and loved Sam had me crying tears of joy. And I absolutely loved Sam's fiery sass. She's was quite the spitfire. Ian and Sam complimented each other to a T. Love love love love them! I just wanted more, so much more.
Not So Nice Guy left me in a state of euphoria. There's not one thing I didn't like about this book. Easy, fun, and a page turner. This slow burn, friends to lovers romance delivers on the laughs, steam, and swoon. Rachel has done it again! I can't for you to read this! I highly recommend!!!
so, friends to lovers is one of my least favourite tropes. i rarely pick them up unless it's an author i know and love - like RS Grey. i knew if anyone could make me enjoy it, it would be her. this is not a traditional friends to lovers though, it's more like they've both been secretly into each other this whole time but thought it was unrequited. which is so much more my jam.
as usual with an RS Grey book, i laughed, i covered my eyes and actually closed my kindle in secondhand embarrassment a couple of times - but, like, in a good way. it's fine. i embarrass easily. it was both adorable and steamy, the banter was all the yes, the characters well developed and realistic.. i really liked them both, i love that they were both interested but were both totally clueless. i loved their friendship. Sam reminded me a lot of one of RS Grey's other heroines, but i couldn't put my finger on which one.
This starts off with a bang and picks up pace very quickly. It doesn't keep that speed throughout the whole book - something happens and they overcome it, but it happened at an odd spot with a bit too much time left and I kept waiting for something else, something bigger to happen. not complaining, there was no unnecessary drama or angst, i just kept expecting something so it was a bit anticlimactic when it didn't arrive.
all in all, another hit from RS Grey and obviously I'm champing at the bit for her next one. Can we get a hallelujah for how quickly she writes these books? Way to keep your readers happy and hooked RS Grey, I love knowing there's always a new book on the horizon!
ARC received from author, thank you!
Ian and Sam (Samantha) have been best friends for 3 years, and they've been in love with each other all that time. Has either ever told the other? Of course not!
As teachers at Oak Hill High School; he the AP Chem II teacher and she the journalism teacher and staff coordinator for the student paper, they are in each other's lives constantly, both at school and at home. And yet, they're just pals, just friends, even though both want more but refuse to do anything about it. And then, boom, things change in a big way when a new sub is brought in and Sam has to show her around. When Sam lets the big bomb drop that she and Ian are in fact, NOT a couple, suddenly teachers all across the school are going insane trying to get together with both Ian and Sam. This is when Ian decides he can't handle all the men trying to get HIS Sam and he decides to do something about it. "This guy really thinks he's going to get Sam--my Sam." Bam, no more Nice Guy!
Gah, I LOVED, LOVED, LOVED Not So Nice Guy!!! It's just so adorable and sweet and swoony. Friends to lovers can be a snooze or an angst-fest depending upon the author, but in R.S. Grey's superbly talented hands, this trope is perfectly done. Ian is just so sexy and sweet as he moves his Sam toward couplehood, knowing she doesn't do change well. And Sam, could she be more freakin' adorable?! Their friendship turned more is just so sweet and sexy and just PERFECT. If you like rom-coms, or friends to lovers, or honestly, just romance in general, I highly recommend you 1-click Not So Nice Guy today!
I absolutely loved this book! I don’t even know where to start with this review. I am a giddy, swoony, happy mess right now! This is my favorite book by R.S. Grey to date! I was in love with the characters from the very beginning and couldn’t get enough of them. This book was so cute, light, swoony, and hilarious!
Ian and Sam met when they both started orientation when hired to teach at Oak Hill High School. They hit it off immediately but because they were both dating other people, they became quick best friends. If you know me, I am a SUCKER for friends-to-lovers romances and this is now one of my top favorites!
I quickly fell head over heels for both of them and I started rooting for them right away. Ian is what book boyfriends are made of! He’s decided that since they are both single, and Valentine’s day is coming up, he is going to woo her off her feet. He is so sweet and thoughtful. He’s so SWOONY! Sam is awkward, and ends up in some sticky situations but I loved that about her! She is a real character and so funny as well!
They are a perfect match and I love them so much! They have to maneuver many bumps in the road on their way to a happily ever after. Things got awkward, embarrassing, and at the same time, extremely swoon-worthy and sexy!
If you’re looking for a book to leave you with a huge smile on your face and leave you feeling so in love, don’t wait! Grab this book right now!
I love, Love, LOVE this book!
Another great book from RS Grey! I love her books! Not So Nice Guy is completely different from Arrogant Devil. It follows two best friends who are secretly in love with each other, have been since the day they met three years ago but they keep it a secret from each other because they are afraid of losing their friendship if it doesn't work out.
I love their relationship. They are completely each others best friends but I believe mainly that's because they love each other and refuse to let one another go. But when Ian decided to push the envelope, they realize it is now or never, there is no going back.
I enjoyed watching their relation grow beyond just friends, even though Sam drives me crazy a little around the middle. She lets her fears get the better of her when she knows Ian will never really hurt her. I feel like she should have known better. But Ian refuses to let her go, pushing her limits.
The first sexy scene between them was hot and not a scene really ever in romance novels and I don't know why. A phone sex scene Ian initiates. It was hot and very different. I would love to see more scenes like this one written into books. It did definitely give me the element of surprise.
The last five chapters or so were amazing! The surprise Ian through, I did not see all of that coming. It was magical. I loved it! RS Grey has great ways of always grabbing a hold of her readers and not letting go until the every end.
All plans went out the window this morning when I picked up this beauty to read. I thought a quick chapter or two would tie me over till I had more time. Nope, I changed what I thought was on the agenda to sit and be enveloped up in the world of Sam and Ian. ???
I am a huge fan of Rom-Com's, love them! And I will always pick one over any other book to read, as they just make me so happy. When I finished this one, I had the biggest smile on my face, even if it was 1am. This is my favourite R.S Grey book to date.
Ian Fletcher is a good guy really, but tempt him and he can be bad, very bad - not so nice! Samantha Abrams is his best friend of three years, and she is ludicrously funny. The malarkey she gets herself into is absurdly entertaining and amusing. She is very quirky and has issues with change but Ian knows all about her faults and loves her because of them. The trials and tribulations of taking that next step will keep you invested and enthralled till the very end. Ian was so charming and supportive, he knew exactly what Sam was needing and wanted before she even did.
This is a friends to lovers romance that has a delicious slow burn to the start of the book. It is told in dual POV and I adored getting to know them better this way. This is one for fans of quick, fun and flirty romances. Loved it.
I cannot tell you how much I was smiling throughout this whole book! I loved both characters so much. Ian and Sam have been best friends for three years since they went through orientation at the school they were teaching. They just sort of clicked from that first day, I thought it was cute how they acted like high schoolers. I know it doesn't sound very professional of them, but I thought it was adorable. What they both did not know was that they both secretly were in love with each other. When it gets out that they are in fact not dating, they become fair game. Ian who never denied that they were not dating was not having it. He has a bit of the possessiveness I love in an alpha and he was done denying them both with what they want, each other. Sam is not fan of change and will do whatever she can to keep the status quo. She fears losing Ian so she would rather stay friends, but Ian won't let that happen. But what is really sweet about Ian was he didn't want just a friends with benefits relationship he wanted it all, and that became very frustrating for both of them. The phone sex scene and shower scene felt a bit off to me, but I loved the rest of the story so much I got over it.
After reading some heavier angst type books, this rom-com came at the perfect time. I still can't believe this is the first book I've ever read from R.S. Grey! Looking forward to diving into her other books!
So many feels throughout this book!! I couldn’t put it down, even during the rough moments when I wanted to pummel Sam! This amazing author never disappoints and it’s always so refreshing to read something that turns into one of the top reads of the year!
Sam really upset me quite a few times and understanding the true Sam is what really made me keep reading because I wasn’t put in those situations. Sam made me laugh so much and her interactions with Nicolas made me snort out a laugh after every conversation.
Ian, that hunk of a man Ian, just made me swoon the ENTIRE time during this book!!! From the beginning to end he just kept doing things for his best friend that made me wish and hope and beg for things to be different. But I loved their friendship and the closeness they have to one another that most people don’t have. He is 100% the man of everyone’s dreams; hot, smart, funny, caring, athletic, respectful and so much more that will make you swoon!!
I applaud you Rachel because this book was everything I needed!! I laughed, I swooned and I even got angry at not just the main characters but at some of the PTA ladies and it was just everything! I have loved everyone of your books that I have read but this one is at the top for me and I can’t wait to have a paperback copy in my collection!! Congrats on this bestseller!!
I love the chemistry between the two MCs though I have to say, they worked better as friends. I know this is a love story but with all the funny quirkiness that makes up there relationship there is very little love. We can tell they love each other but it was all so fast at the same time. Sam loves him but doesn't like change all that much. It makes the ending seemed a bit rushed because she still hasn't wrapped her head around the fact that they are together.
Ian, on the other hand, still seems to be constantly fighting for her attention and for her to understand. They make really good friends, of that we have no doubt, but as a couple? I am not really sure if that works.
We never see conflict between them. We are told things are happening but it doesn't go anywhere. Even the moments when someone gets jealous just sounds like one huge joke.
I found myself wanting to learn more about side characters thanks to all the pranks and jokes going on. I wanted to see how they felt on stuff instead it was all glossed over. This was a fun story to read. It is well written and easily one of my favorites. But it isn't without flaws and this book has a ton of them. Still, I will be reading every book by this author that I can get my hands on. It was just that good.
