I finished this in a matter of hours, reading late into the night as i just had to know what happened! When something most of us fear just got a whole lot bigger....... really enjoyed this book, the setting, the theme and the characters.

The concept excited me initially and the first chapter was a good basis for the rest of the story. I found the story too long in the telling, the characters, some of whom were well done, just became tiresome. The surprises that turned the plot became less and less believable and I became less and less interested. I admit that I put it down unfinished, so perhaps it redeemed itself later - I don't know. I was feeling I really wanted to move on and noticed that I was only @ 50% complete, so I shut it down.

I enjoyed this book very much, non stop action and a strong female character. Not only is it written by an Australian, but he is a Brisbane boy.
So can't wait for the next book in May, with the same characters I hope.

This had some intriguing ideas and concepts so what interesting to see how things played out in this book. There were also some adrenaline pumping moments but was overall a great read even if i am scared of spiders *shudder*

One precarious escape after Another makes this a very fun read. The writer has a great imagination and creates sympathetic characters that you can identify with. The jungles of the the store will never be the same after this novel.

Fun, enjoyable read. An action horror story set in the the store jungle. Also a mystery that develops throughout the book as the characters encounter the unexpected. Good ending tying everything together.

It starts off a little slow, and the dialogue could be more true to life, but stick with it. Mortensen is a master of rising action and raising stakes. I couldn't believe how many times I thought, "well, surely that's as bad as it can get" only to have something even bigger leap out of the shadows (sometimes literally). Eight is a fantastic thrill ride that will keep you captivated to the very end.

Every element possible has been added to keep you in a state of fear while trying to solve the puzzles included in the story. Too many elements. The story line is weakened and is lost. Try again. Kids might be intrigued

I love horror books about spiders. This is the best I have read in a long time. Enjoyed it immensely. Only it left a couple of things hanging. Like why is Ed so sick still. Hinted at something more. But still BRAVO!

Starts out being a believable story but ends up with being a bit over the top with unbelievable species and non stop death escaping feats. This "over the top" is exactly what makes this a really good read.
