My fault I did not read the description through. I thought this was 9 little Golden books, not one volume. Still love the art work and the stories but a little disappointed as I planned to give a book a day to my grandchild when I go to visit this fall. Still a beautiful gift for her.I will just read one story a day for her.

Wilkin captures childhood and its environs perfectly in her illustrations. Prose (written by others) is simple and great for early readers. Great price here at the store. The only reason I give this book three stars is because I believe that Wilkin's classics should have been included in this book- "The New Baby", "We Help Daddy", and "We Like Kindergarden" ("We Help Mommy" is included in the book). The stories included are obscure and do not have that "wow!" factor that the aforementioned, missing stories do. To forewarn atheists or adults not ready to explain the whole higher-being deal or adults who do not desire to profess belief in a male god- there is a story included titled "My Little Golden Book About God". Sorry to say so-so selection-wise.

My daughter has LOVED this book since she was about 20 months old. There are great stories for toddlers, plus a few more advanced ones to "grow on." The illustrations are just lovely, and you'll find ideas and concepts that just aren't being taught today. A good example is "We Help Mommy." Don't hesitate. Buy this book for the toddler or preschooler in your life.

My toddler loves Eloise Wilkin's illustrations-- they clearly make the "babies" (as he calls them, whether they are or not) very sympathetic. He will ask frantically for the "baby stories," and start begging for more when we get to the penultimate page of whichever one we're reading. Some of the books selected for the anthology are a bit long/wordy/tedious for a very young child, but half are suitable for even the youngest. I was sorry to see that "We Help Daddy" was not included along with "We Help Mommy," but that's my only complaint.

Being a second cousin to the illustrator may make me a bit biased, however, I do love the way she captures children's faces. They look so realistic. Also, this book has stories no longer in print making them more precious to own. The stories in this treasury showcase Eloise's talents as she herself grew as an artist. I go out of my way to look for copies I do not own and I have given her books to many new parents, who tell me how much they enjoyed them as children and now love to have them for their children. Eloise's books are a gift that keeps on giving!

Precious pictures and stories by Eloise Wilkin that my mama read to me and I read to all of our children. I actually bought this book for our granddaughter, but I kept it for myself! The pictures bring up such good childhood memories! The book is beautifully bound and a treasure to me.

Bought this book despite owning a couple of the stories inside. Would be 5 stars if we didn't have to keep our copy of We Help Mommy as the one in the collection has some edits and is slightly abridged.

I expected a swet of these little Golden Books and it came in one big book. I bought it for my sister's daycare for the little children, and it is too bulky for a small child, and for her to handle it while reading to them. However, of course the stories themselves and illustrations deserve 5 stars...just didn't state it was all in one big book!
