Beastly (Kendra Chronicles Book 1)

MY son had to finish reading this over his holiday vacation. He missed school the two days before, so we downloaded this and he got to get his assignment done. He loved reading it on the Kindle also...may have to get him his own...=)

While I am attached to the original Fairy tales,I found this one an interesting rendition of all the mystery and life lessons of the original written to reach today's readers. It is an enjoyable read. I am a Creative Writing teacher, who enjoys a story from another viewpoint.

I chose Four Stars because I loved the book. what I loved the most is all of the characters, their uniqueness. Alex Flinn did an excellent job creating the setting and connecting this scenario to the other different Beauty and the Beasts. I didn't give it Five Stars because I think the beginning was sort of slow, but I wouldn't say boring. In the middle towards the ending the events made up for it. I loved the book, Beastly.

I love this book and would definitely recommend it. It is one book you would want to keep on your shelf where you can easily reach. I consider this a "feel good" book wherein reading it on one of your "off" days can definitely pick you up.

This is a modern re-telling of "Beauty and the Beast". I have read the Grimms Brothers' version and this does not stray far from it. Ms. Flinn did a wonderful job of modernizing it in such a way to make it believable to the contemporary reader - as believable as modern fantastical themes can go.

It is quite a novelty to have it written from the male protagonist's point of view. The reader becomes enamored with Beast's sensitivity that your interest is held to a point that you could not put the book down to find out how it would end. Although the whole story was quite predictable, it was very interesting to see how the author modernized a fairy tale.

It is worth recommending to teens because the value of inner beauty is quite emphasized, including good manners and courtesy. Though an easy read, it does not compromise the intelligence of its readers.

In summary, this book appealed to me because of its simplicity; a modern treatment of a classic fairy tale. No serious action or drama to complicate the theme but rather a very appealing story of love and compassion, not to mention the lessons that can be picked up.

I personally thought this book was a very captivating story that wisped you through the book. At first, I thought ,"what a bad person." Then I read about Kendra`s curse on Kyle . Overall I enjoyed this book ..........much better than the movie if you ask me. I LOVED the romance\fairytale in this book, and I would recommend it to everybody at least over the age of 10 for the curse words. I rate this book 4 out of 5 stars. I hope it gets many awards. :p

This story is well written and the original details were incorporated nicely. I didn't know what to expect with a tie-in edition, but have seen the previews for the movie (which unfortunately was delayed from its release date of July 2010.) The only thing I didn't like about the book is that the characters are only sixteen and I would have loved reading a bit more grown up version, but I understand how this mirrors his transformation.

My favorite feature of the book is that you get to hear all of his (Kyle/Beast's) thoughts. This in itself is a treat; to hear his thoughts as he transforms from superficial and arrogant to someone who cares for others. His devotion to Lindi, his carefullness not to frighten her, his desire to be with her while only wanting the best for her is priceless. This story is not about a girl who falls for a homely or freakish looking man, but about a man who truely learns to love. His character before the transformation would have been cruel to Lindi and would have never learned to find her attractive.

The book is a more accurate portrail because in it Lindi is plain which is what makes this story so beautiful. I think that Vanessa Hudgens is too cute for the Lindi role. Also the book portrays "the beast" as animal looking, which I feel is a more accurate description. I love the contemporary version; it's more believable than the disney version. Definately worth reading!

Beastly is one of those page turners that leaves you with a knot of feelings in your stomach, you just want to finish it the first day you buy it. It is a very meaningful and strong love story. I'm not much of a romantic person, but I loved this book and I reccomend it.

Great summer fairy tale. Finished in 1 day! Fabulous writing. Will definitely read more from this author. Recommend this book for any age. I gave Beastly five stars because the writing just flows from one page to another.

This book is fabulous. I only wish that there had been more about the other creatures that were cursed. I love the inside look at Kyle/Adrian's though. I saw the movie first and was pleasantly surprised even though they are quite different. I like both but I believe I prefer the book.

This book was my first purchase in this site, and was so fast to buy it and it came very soon into my house, i estipulated that the book will came in almost 2 weeks but instead of that it was only a week later when i received the package with my book inside, it was wonderful; completely new, undamaged, wow, it's all i have to comment.

Overall, the book was great. I loved the story, and I love how it was morphed into a modern day beauty and the beast. The book got lost in the delivery process the first time so I had waited longer than a month to get it, but it was well worth the wait. Good buy. Going into my collection.
