I brought this thing on vacation in Mexico. I had to read an actual printed copy of "the notebook." Seriously. Dirk you ********! You owe me. End this crap line of characters and start a new set already.

I've enjoyed all the previous novels, but this one seems to drag each day into agonizing detail, and at the end of 400 (or so) pages, only a few days have passed. I wish the action moved along more quickly.

Another great installment! Patton's writing seems to be getting better. He even takes a few shots at himself over some of the issues some reviewers have with him, like ending every book on cliff hanger. There's a line at the very beginning where he narrates:
"like a poorly ended movie or TV series that leaves the fate of some poor bastard to whatever the audience imagines by just cutting to black."
Good stuff :)
As far as the story goes, we are introduced to a new character, Joe, who is a virologist and has devised an idea to combat the infection. The females are evolving and getting much smarter. The virus or the inoculation the military administered is having a new effect on the living: they are becoming stronger and faster like the female infected. The action is fast paced and unrelenting as usual. John Chase leaves a trail of destruction wherever he goes up to the climactic finish with the final defense at Tinker air force base. The story does end on a cliff hanger but one not nearly as egregious as book 6. I was satisfied with the ending and this series has now become my second favorite right behind Sam Sisavath's Purge of Babylon series (which you must read if you haven't started yet!) Thank you Dirk Patton.
Final thoughts:
There's about a paragraph's worth where Patton narrates from the viewpoint of Dog. I thought it was a nice touch and hope to see more of that in future installments. Everyone loves of Dog :) And Rachel, poor Rachel. The day she dreaded has finally come and she must now face a possible future without Chase by her side. I don't know how it will all play out but I hope something good comes for Rachel. I like Katie but when the majority of the story has been Rachel and John, it's hard to let go.

Wow! Just....wow! This book picks right up at the end of the sixth book, 'Days of Perdition' and unbelievably cranks up the action even more!
As Major John Chase wakes up, after a crash, he realizes that once again he has been separated from his 'crew'. Finding everyone, and his injured wife, becomes the one and only mission for him.
The chapters flow seamlessly between the Major's actions, the 'lost crew' and the survivors at Tinker. The writing is so detailed, but does not affect the pace of this book. In fact, all of Mr. Payton's descriptions do nothing but intensify the excitement and ferocity of the story!
While each group attempts to overcome challenges, this book solidifies, exemplifies and testifies to the undeniable human spirit and perseverance. Still one of my favorite series! Extremely well done!

Still an absolute five star series!
But... I don't think I like Katie. I feel like it's a sin to even breathe that. She's just always putting down John. Now I know it's "friendly bantering" - but I feel it goes too far. Seems all her dialogue comprises of busting John's balls. And to do it in front of his team (Martinez so far), unthinkable. For the teammate and the wife to "gang up on" the Major, well to be in line with his character, I can't see him allowing it. Or any major allowing it.
Anyway...... on to read the next in the series..... :)

As always, Dirk Patton’s V Plague books keep me reading late into the night. Characters that I love and I can’t wait to see what happens next, zombie action that I haven’t seen before, enemies that never stop. So much action, I wish I could stay awake to finish them all but then I would end up like a zombie myself.

I have written about this series many times. It is absolutely great!!!! I don't usually like zombie stories too much; however, this is approached in such a realistic way interwoven with a hint of romance. When I start to read I have to take a break as it sometimes is so suspenseful. I'm taking it slow because I don't want it to end.

Great series. I'm an avid zombie/post apocalyptic fiction reader and have flown the first 7 books in the series. Breathtaking pace from the 1st book on with engaging main/supporting characters. It has everything from brutal 1v1 combat to epic full-on battles.I rarely leave reviews but really do feel this entire series is worth the praise.
Please RateIndestructible: V Plague Book 7
Though I love the series, I dislike quick reads that leave the reader in a perpetual state of waiting for continuation. This is the seventh in the series, and I don't see a plausible or satisfactory end it sight. I'd love to see much longer books for the $5 price point of each installment as the monetary investment ($35+) to read the series is ever burgeoning. Also, though the constant strife is the focal point of the series, it is beginning to feel a bit repetitive.
