This is the sort of book that initially breaks your heart. Following a little girl as she journeys from being unloved, to loved, broke hearted to healing...spanning decades, the message of loving hope & forgiveness undergirds it all. It is well worth the time and emotional roller coaster. Perhaps this story also helps us understand our history & our response to dark times as well. Thanks Ms. Tatlock for investing so much!

Skillful plot, with many surprises. Weaves many parts of history together, that I had no idea were going on during my childhood. Made me examine my heart and see if I harbor prejudice, even in subtle ways. Well done, thanks!

I enjoyed reading this book very much. Interesting story and characters and it was not too predictable. The only negative thing I thought was that the first and second half of the book did not seem very connected - there is a connection, but for some reason it was difficult for me to connect the main characters from the first half to the same (older) characters in the second half. But still a very good book to read and I plan to read more by Ann Tatlock!

Just finished reading Ann Tatlock's "All the Way Home." It's a Chrisian historical novel about prejudice and bigotry. Everyone younger than 50 needs to read what the Japanese Americans went thru after the bombing of Pearl Harbor and what was going on in Mississippi in the mid '60's when the Negros were trying to register to vote. Such a good book and VERY well written.

I'm halfway through this book and have found that I am pulled right into the plot. There is enough history to be believable but not so much that it has to be exacting. The characters are great and the story builds upon itself at a comfortable pace. Can't wait to see what happens next.

I enjoyed this book very much. The writer ties to problems of our history together very well and I enjoyed it. The characters were believable and interesting. The book didn't get preachy. I would recommend it to anyone.

But really long and there are some very violent scenes. I think they add to the story, but be forewarned. I enjoyed the writing, not overly prose-y, but very descriptive. Will look forward to reading more by this author.

Didn't know the author but will definitely be looking for other books of hers. It's a long book but definitely worth the time. Parts are heartbreaking but other parts are heartwarming. Would recommend thanks

This book is about the mistreatment of Japanese Americans during WW11, and the mistreatment of Americans captured in Japan, the story continues as Blacks are mistreated in the South! Augie learns that hate is what imprisons us! She learns that forgiveness sets us free. Such a relevant book for now! Hate is still imprisoning Americans, hate and distrust of refugees of other countries and hate of Americans that don't look like us, and hate of the LGBTQ community! Events like what just happened in Orlando look very much like the events described in Ann Tatlock's book, "All The Way Home". When will we learn the lessons of this book, the lesson of imprisonment by hate and freedom by forgiveness and love?

Such a well written book with twists and surprises. I fell in love with the main characters and hated a few... such sad things for a child to experience at such a young age. Tatlock is quickly becoming one of my favorite authors.

I found the story, quality of writing, and the beautiful characters to be no less, but more than "The Help." I loved the creativity of the intertwined storylines, to create a moving, very touching work. It brought me to tears.

This story had so much meat. I really loved it! It is the story of prejudice and fear but also of courage. I have looked for other books by the same author. I think she has a wonderful way with words.

This was a mesAll the Way Homemerizing tale involving two families at the start of WWII. It puts a different slant on what happened to so many permanent, loyal Japanese families in California during those fearful days when any strange face or language ccaused alarm. Very well written descriptions as to what really happened to many loyal friends!

Helped my awareness of the hurt that prejudices implant in people's lives and how it causes bitterness and anger that can last a lifetime, or with acceptance of God's love, can be forgiven and overcome.

I just finished reading this book. A few days ago it was offered for free. I had no idea then if it was worth a read or not? It was and still is worth reading at $4.95. I recommend this as a great read. Made me want to see even more improvements in the racism of America today.

I love historical fiction, and this is one of the best I have read in a long time. The author moved with ease between time periods. It was the kind of book I would love to read in one sitting! Not only is it an entertaining novel, it gives you a good picture of what was happening during the time period she writes about. Excellent!

All the Way Home was such a beautiful story -- believable, sad, heart-wrenching, ultimately redeeming. I cared about the characters and wanted to know more about them (I also wanted to read more by the author, Ann Tatlock).

This book was rich with American history, but also had great story. If you like historical fiction that teaches you much about another time and place, but also has solid character development, you'll love this!

I do not read historical books very often, this one is different. I experience the days of World War II and the days of civil unrest. I could hardly put this book down. I think it is one of the best books I have ever read.

Her books are powerful with real human emotions. They are based on history and how they affected the individuals. It is good to remind us that these terrible things happened to real people only because of fear.
