I had begun reading the series with the book "The Girl With No Name". I wanted to know what happened with her.

This book expands upon the life of Charlotte effectively, but I had a difficult time getting involved with the story. It was slightly more explicit sexually and introduced a lesbian relationship. The end of the story was somewhat unfinished. Though Charlotte has a new love they cannot be openly together and the st o y line is unresolved meaning I must buy the next book to see how it resolves. I do not appreciate that.

I thoroughly enjoy Diney Costeloe books & ADORED 'The girl with no name' honestly, I raved about it to anyone who would listen or happened to make eye contact. This book, while completely enjoyable, felt slightly rushed & in my little old opinion finished quite abruptly. I sincerely thought that my Kindle hadn't downloaded the book properly - that's how sudden it seemed to finish for me. It is a wonderful, at times heart wrenching, read & I was delighted to continue on reading about Charlotte/Lisa & co. Great, easy read - just be prepared for sudden ending (which will leave you wanting more)

I always enjoy this author's books.....She writes mainly historic fiction.. This is a follow up to her original book about displaced children and people during WWII.. The story mainly centers around England and all the horrors that befall her cities during WWII.. A great read! I highly recommend Diney Costeloe and all her books to anyone who wants to add to their knowledge of history and for their reading pleasure!!
The Incredible Story of a Child Raised by Monkeys :: Absolutely gripping mystery and suspense (Detective Josie Quinn) (Volume 2) :: No name :: The Runaway Family :: Losing Leah Holloway (A Claire Fletcher and Detective Parks Mystery Book 2)

I liked this book; however, I liked The Girl With No Name better. I found myself bored with the parts about Harry, and his removal from the story was too easy. The author has a tendency to be confusing with her segue ways. I'd find myself confused with going back and forth within the same chapter. It was a good story, but I was not impressed with the ending. I was really surprised when it ended there. It seems there could be another sequel.

This book continues the story of Charlotte who was once known as Lisa when she was first sent to England as a German refugee. When the last book ended she was getting married and this story picks up with her as a young mother still living in the small village of Wynsdown. Very briefly the novel touches on the characters in the village that we are familiar with but in far more detail we are introduced to the squire's son Felix and his new wife Daphne. Unfortunately Daphne is a character that I could have done without. I wish the author had focused more on the interesting characters in the village, like Avril and her sister Caroline, but we never get to find out anymore about them. I really wish that Harry Black had not been brought back. I think his abrupt departure in the last book for Australia was enough for his character. If we needed to read about characters outside of the village I wish it could have been about Charlotte's foster family Dan and Naomi. After spending so much time on them during so much of the last book they are barely mentioned again.

It becomes very clear where the novel is going and if you want Charlotte to avoid further tragedy do not begin this novel, although I will say she does pick up the pieces in typical Charlotte fashion. Also if you are the kind of person who hates a novel ending with a cliffhanger then this one might not be for you. I'm not sure if the author intends a third novel with these characters or not but the novel ends very abruptly without the future being very clear for its most important characters. I wondered how the author could write a follow up to a novel that centered so much on war and its consequences and unfortunately I found this novel to be lacking a lot of what made the last novel so interesting. Charlotte was never very evolved as a character, but that was explained by the circumstances of her life, however without that background this novel needed to develop its characters in a way it never did. I received this book for free from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

I Always enjoy Disney Costeloe's books and this was no exception, gripping saga with plenty of twists and turns, I is definitely a great follow up to 'The Girl with No Name'.

Set yourself back to 1949 and how life was then to enjoy these pages. This is the continued story of Lieselotte as known as Lisa and later was named Charlotte after she lost her memory following the London bombings by the Germans. She was a German refugee and met a boy called Harry Black - they formed a special bond which later caused problems in Lisa's adult and married life.

In this follow up we continue to follow the life of a refugee, through the highs and lows of life in a small Post War Somerset town. Even though this was a small quiet town on the south of Bristol but there was nothing quiet about it. There was a lot going on from gossip, infidelity, lesbians affairs ... which made this a rich saga indeed... not to mention that Harry came in and out of Charlotte’s life like a flash and each time he turns up he caused a stir.

This is Beautifully written with the character of Charlotte suffers another great tragedy only to find security and happiness again...
This book has a bit of everything, love, loss, death, birth, forbidden love and above all else for Charlotte a happy ending which brought tears to my eyes.

Even though I’d recommend reading ‘The Girl with No Name’ in order to understand the total direction of the story, it can easily be read as a stand-alone as Costeloe reveals all the back story required for you to understand the characters and their lives.

I would not recommend this book, the first part was ok, but bringing back a character from the past just didn't seem to fit. I hated the fact that the husband was killed off, but mostly the sex scenes I felt had no place in the story and we're off putting!
