I do love the character development with the ladies. The only reason I don't give it 5 stars is because I felt like the men could have more character than they do. They are a bit drab and boring, whereas our heroins are fighting with swords. I don't see them as an equal match.

I always love the story which heroine always strong head and be herself not been bending by someone else's thought so easily. And the hero is what I expected , so devilish handsome, rich, strong&possessive, have been hurt or betrayed before since he were childhood then he felt that he never want to marry or got himself a wife especially the strong head but very seductive young Miss.

The story had been well written and smoothly develop the relationship between the 2 strangers which became a newlywed. Really love the chemistry between them too and the bed scene are hot!

I read this almost non stop. The characters were delightful, especially Jack and her unconventional views. I felt an instant connection with her and her love of weapons. I plan on getting the other books in this series . I can hardly wait to see what Sabra and George have in store for their men.,

I downloaded this for free during BookCon - it's not a book I would have purchased normally. Having said that, I enjoyed it, despite some inconsistency in characterization and some unevenness of plot. The banter was witty, though, and I was entertained.

Well written, enjoyed the various storylines. Had a few twists to it, particularly the need to dismiss an entire family of servants for the misdeeds of one and why it was the kindest thing to do. Didn't see that one coming. Will read the rest.

Among the many books of this type, Trials of Artemis, stands out. You immediately fall in love with the heroine and her unusual interests and pursuits. Her life in irrevocably changed by a mistaken encounter. Even though gruff and distant, you're routing for the couple the entire time. Great story, I would definitely read this one!

I really grew to love Gideon/Giddy and Jacqueline/Jack. Jack is a weapon-loving bluestocking who is forced to marry Gideon due to an interesting meeting. Their characters and their relationship develop at an almost perfect pace as the book progresses (with bumps along the newlywed road, of course). If you like a strong female, this is the book for you.

The only (very minor) issue I had was that if both characters were as against getting married as they said they were, I would've expected a little more resistance on both sides. Although they were upset, I felt that they acted like they were more indifferent versus actively trying to avoid the marriage mart prior to their leg-shackling. Granted, both characters seemed sensible and would be resigned to accepting the situation in time...but the immediate period surrounding the marriage still felt a bit weird.

Aside from that, it was a great read and I'm looking forward to reading the next installment!

Sue London is quite a writer, especially gifted in plotting. Her characters are strongly portrayed, and the pace of the plot is brisk. If you're a fan of regency romance and adventure, pick this up. You'll probably enjoy it.

I bought it based on positive reviews, and I have to say I didn’t regret it. It was a nicely written story, without problems with grammar, with believable (though sometimes idiotic) behaviour and dialogues and just the right amount of angst. The reason I gave it only 4 stars - the ending felt extremely cut off, story goes, goes and suddenly the end. Nothing was nor felt really resolved. And the excerpt of the next story didn’t seem to offer to fill the holes...

All in all, a good story, worth those few dollars, and those favouring this genre will probably like it. I might reread it in the future, and I might not. There are better stories, but many more are worse.

I wound up really enjoying this book, I grew awfully attached to the characters who had more depth and interesting things about them that I had originally anticipated. I was also relieved to find that it was an actual good story as opposed to another copycat of 50 shades of gray and the like. Well written, I can't wait to read the next one!

I really loved this book. It is nothing scholarly, but I liked it so much that I bought the sequel already and liked that too. I am looking forward to the next installment. Light, gothic romance with a little mystery.

Excellent story, the writer took you on a journey in time when social standing in society was required. The hero did honour his responsibility and gained the love of the heroine. Can't wait to read about the other Haberdashers.

This book really held my interest and was well written with believable characters. The story moved along at a quick pace and I read the book in two days. I look forward to the next novel by Sue London and continuation of the Haberdashers.

What a great new author! The characters are well written and fun in their own rights, not to mention their development throughout the book. Great storyline and twist on a historical romance. I highly recommend!

Got this because I like historical romance and loved the cover. Kind of nice reading about a woman capable of taking care of herself in some ways during an era that women had little control of their lives.

I really like this book. Picked it because it was cheap, but really glad I did. Plan to read the rest of series and hope they are as good.
Finally a heroine that can think without making stupid assumptions. And the hero was funny.
Great Read!

Wow. Admittedly, I have never read romance. On purpose. This wonderful tale was refreshing, hilarious throughout, and very interesting from the historical perspective. There were several points at which the events gave me the quintessential vapors :)

Great little summer read!the story was interesting and the characters were complex enough o read in a few short sittings - while wanting more. While it won't win awards for drastically different plot lines, it had everything you need for a satisfying read. Will definitely look out for the next boom in the series!

I believe this is the first offering by this authoress I have read A fairly straightforward plot but executed with real ability. Some authors have me skipping pages but Sue London is not in that category. He characters are well drawn and she had me engrossed from the first page. Certainly an author than warrants adding to my list of "well worth reading"

I really enjoyed this book. I thought the character of Jack was wonderfully refreshing!!! I would recommend this book to anyone who reads for the shear enjoyment of it. The only problem I have with it is having to wait for the next one in the series.

As I like reading stories about the life style during the early 19th century, I liked this
book very much and I will be looking forward to be able to read the other books of
the series of The Haberdashers and some other books from Sue London. I like her
writting style.
