If you are looking for a special and memorable holiday romance that will certainly get you into the Christmas spirit, look no further. Christmas at Twilight was a remarkably uplifting and heartwarming look at two psychologically damaged individuals and their road to personal healing. It is also a look at how two damaged individuals can come together with two children to create a family. This book was a perfect mix of romance, heartwarming plot, and harsh reality of the wounds to the soul that victims of abuse and soldiers often carry.

Although this is a part of an ongoing series, I read this one as a stand-alone, and had no trouble merging right into this story (and this town). For lovers of romantic tales with some angst and lots of heart, this is definitely the book for you. I feel in love with this couple (and the children) and will easily site this book as my favorite holiday read of 2014.

Amazing read.

If you are looking for lots of Christmasy warm-fuzzies you will have to wade through almost 400 pages of melodramatic angst. Now I’m all in favor of some troubled protagonists but this is a bit over the top for me. If you like a hero who, granted, is a hunky, retired Delta Force soldier with an inability to talk and PTSD. As well as our heroine who is anxiety ridden because of being on the run with her son from her ex. Then this is your cup of tea. Did I mention the hunky soldier’s sister who has run off and left her daughter in the care of these two less than mentally sound people? Just too much drama for me when you throw in the psycho ex-husband. I gave it a 3-star rating because Ms. Wilde writes some believable dialog. This book has a 4.5 rating on the store so Lori Wilde fans seem to like it…a lot.

I have always loved the way this author writes. She brings real live experiences into her books. And this one is no different then the rest.
Hutch is a military man who lost his ability to speak due to an accident in his military line of work. When he returns home he realizes that it was he best thing that has ever happened to him. He gained a wife and children.
Meredith has been on the run from her abusives ex husband for as long as she could remember. When she meets Hutch she doesn't want anything to do with him. However she realizes that by helping him regain his voice she ha fallen in love.
During the book Meredith and Hutch come tougher in support to each other's issues. In th end they realized that their past is what brought the, together and they wouldn't have it any other way.
Please read this book. It brings to light abuse and PTSD. It also shows that anyone can fall in love as long as you open yourself up to it

I have absolutely enjoyed Ms. Wilde’s previous books but this one was a bit difficult for me. Central to this book are the themes of PTSD, domestic abuse and mental illness – sadly, all of which are very relevant today. I commend her for writing about such emotional and heart-tugging topics in this book while still providing the reader with a happy ending that did not seemed forced or out of place.
Ms. Wilde developed the characters of this book with a great deal of insight, respect and sensitivity. We were able to join in on the journey of these characters as they struggled yet overcame incredible challenges and were able to accept and make peace with their realities and move forward in a beautiful way and into their happily ever after together.
This book was well written and perhaps, I would have enjoyed it more had it not been a “Christmas novel.” It’s just a personal preference but I prefer my Christmas reads to be a bit more light and magical. My personal preference, however, does not take away from what is a really well developed and written story that will take you on an emotional journey.
I received a copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review.

Christmas at Twilight is a really great read. I really loved it. The way Lori Wilde written this story made me feel like I was there.

In this story we meet Meredith Sommers (aka Jane) who is running from her past. Her past deals with an abusive ex-husband who is a cop that thinks he will never be caught. We also meet Brian Hutchinson "Hutch" in this story. Hutch is made to return home due to that he suffers from PTSD and has lost his ability to talk after being wounded when his Delta Force company was killed.

This story deals with Jane (aka Meredith) and Hutch learning to trust, healing and maybe finding love. The town and its characters come alive and keeps you drawn in until the end and leaves you wanting more. I loved the other Twilight stories that Lori Wilde has written and this one is right at the top with them.

Lori Wilde continues to give us exciting well written books that make you wish you were part of the story. Christmas at Twilight takes place in the picturesque small town of Twilight, Texas, home of friendly people, cookie, knitting, quilting clubs, and now Jane with her 4 year old son Ben. Running from an abusive ex-husband, Jane and Ben are living in the home of single mother Ashley and her daughter Kimmie. Unaware the house actually belongs to Ashley’s brother Hutch, Jane pepper sprays him when she spots him coming out of her home. Recently wounded and discharged from the Army, Captain Brian Hutchinson returns to his hometown to find his sister gone and a stranger living in his house taking care of his niece. Running from his own problems, Hutch knows something or someone has Jane on the run as well.
This is an intriguing suspense story with just the right amount of romance that will keep you reading until the last word. The relationship that develops between Meredith and Hutch as well as their relationship with the children makes it the perfect Christmas Story. I am a member of Lori's review crew and was given the book Christmas at Twilight for an honest book review.

Delta Force Operator, “Hutch” Hutchinson returns home to find his sister is MIA and a young woman and her son is living in his house and they have a frightening secret and he vows to do whatever it takes to protect them in this riveting romantic holiday suspense. Spine tingling tension builds throughout the story as suspense builds in several different directions throughout and the conclusion to the story is exciting and believable though a bit sad. Twilight, Texas and its charismatic characters have certainly caught my attention and since I really enjoyed and I was completely caught up in this story from the very beginning, I am adding the other books to my TBR list.

4 ½ STARS

Lori Wilde has truly brought us another wonderful Hero in Hutch. A man who would do anything to protect those he loves. And in Meredith, a woman who would do anything to protect her son and the little girl left in her care, who just happens to be Hutch’s niece. In pages of this story, Lori Wilde has written on of her best stories yet. I felt the love and joy, and anguish she put into every page. This story left me feeling glad, sad, and happy and at parts shuddering with intensity at what would happen next. But in the end, I was filled with love and hope and I sighed at the HEA of this wonderful story.
If you don’t have this on your TBR shelf, I encourage you do to so. For to not read Christmas at Twilight would be like Santa not bringing you that one gift you really wanted for Christmas and was disappointed. And who wants to be disappointed at Christmas…..

This Christmas romance is apparently on in a series- I have not read the other books but think this one reads well enough as a standalone. The main characters were OK, though I could never understand how Meredith ended up living with such a flaky landlord, or why she was willing to accept responsibility for her child rather than calling in the authorities. Hutch was a great character, working through his wartime experiences in his own way. I found it a bit much that the town is apparently populated by veterans from elite military units, but suspect that is the inevitable by-product of a series of military themed romances. I did think the ending was extremely unrealistic- I can't imagine that a woman on the run like Meredith wouldn't have been using the internet to trace her stalker. All in all, probably a 3.5 star read.

If you only have time for one Christmas romance, this is the must read for the holiday season. I recommend this book to anyone looking for a fulfilling reading experience. I've never ranked a book this high, and I've never found a writer who has inspired me as Lori Wilde has done. As an author, I tend to pick apart books, but this book is the full complement of everything that is done excellently. You will care about Meredith and Hutch from the moment you meet them. Yes, they do answer the question posed by Donald Maas: Why should I care? Because they are real and in pain, you will want to embrace them. the children, Ben and Kimmie are adorable. In them, Wilde has captured the curiosity and playfulness of four year old behavior.

The town of Twilight is the place I would choose to live. it is filled with people who care about each other and gossip about each other, but these people open their hearts to the characters in the book. Likewise, you will open your heart to the townspeople, as well as the primary characters.

I will make Lori Wilde's books must reads for myself!

I LOVED this book. Our story is about Meredith (Jane) and Hutch. Hutch is in group therapy because he was the lone survivor in his troup in the war. He lost his voice. Meredith and Ashley are friends (Ashley is Hutch's sister). Ashley meets a guy and decides to go on vacation with him. She takes off and leaves her daughter with Meredith. Meredith has a son Ben. Meredith is on the run from her ex husband, a cop that thinks he will never be caught. He is psychotic and kills Meredith's therapist and tries to get away with it. And so our story begins. Lots of twists and turns to this wonderful book. I thoroughly enjoyed it from cover to cover. I think this is Lori Wilde's best book yet. Could not wait to see how it would end. Don't miss this book, you will love it!!

Generally I expect a bit more light-heartedness in a Christmas themed romance novel, but this is Lori Wilde so I while I was disappointed, I wasn't shocked.

Veteran "Hutch" Hutchinson has returned home a changed man. He has PTSD and "Jane" is a battered woman on the run. These two crazy kids have to find some way out of their own mental darkness to battle the bad guy and put their past's far enough behind them so they can start to think about the future. If you like Romantic Suspense and tortured hero's and heroine's this is the book for you.

Christmas at Twilight is an emotionally intense romance novel that is packed with intrigue, mystery and suspense from beginning to end. The prevailing theme throughout the book focuses on PTSD, mental illness, and domestic abuse.

Brian "Hutch" Hutchinson is a Delta Force Operative who has recently been medically discharged because of injuries sustained while fighting in Afghanistan. His unit was ambushed and Hutch is the lone survivor. He lost an index finger, and had shrapnel lodged in his throat. He presently suffers from PTSD and has lost the ability to speak. He reluctantly returns home and discovers a stranger living in his house.

Meredith Sommers, (aka Jane Brown), has escaped from her abusive husband who is a detective with LAPD. She has been on the run for several years, and lives in constant fear of him tracking her down, so she never remains in one place for too long. She is presently living in Twilight, Texas, and is renting a room from a woman named Ashley. Meredith has no idea that Ashley has a brother and is even more astounded to discover that Hutch is the actual owner of the house.

It doesn't take Hutch long to realize that Meredith is harboring a frightening secret. He is becoming attracted to her and when he learns that she is in desperate need of the safety he can provide, he vows to do everything in his power to protect her.

Meredith and Hutch are strong individuals who have been mentally, physically, and emotionally scarred because of their past experiences. They soon come to realize that they must learn to trust and depend on each other so they may heal and recover from their past. In doing so, it will make it possible for them to embrace their future.

Christmas at Twilight is an extremely intense read that will have your emotions running the gamut while keeping you on the edge of your seat.

I received a copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review.

A touching Christmas story that is a must read.

Hutch and Meredith are 2 troubled people fighting to make their lives better and together they find a way to heal and become stronger. It feels like coming home to read another Twilight, Texas book. The town and it's characters come alive and keep you drawn in until the end and leave you wanting more.

I am normally not one to read books with dark violence but the story line of Meredith's ex-husband and everything he puts her through only adds to the life of the book and sheds light a problem that exists for many women.

I loved the part of the book where Hutch gets his voice back in order to save Meredith's son. They make a lovely family.

Lori once again hits a home run in my opinion.

Yes, I had issues with the police not being called after the sister went missing and I agree there are a couple of very serious topics (especially the sister's fate at the end) that do not make this a fun Christmas tale at all. However, I found the character "Hutch" to be worth the read,

Meredith calls herself Jane because she has a secret. Hutch is a wounded soldier who came home with some issues. Fate and two adorable children bring them together for Christmas, but in order for Meredith to trust Hutch, she needs to set down some ground rules. I have read a lot of Lori Wilde books and this one doesn’t disappoint. Lori knows how to spin a tale that keeps you sucked in from the first page to the last. This one has some suspense thrown into the romance that kept me involved til the very end.

Lori has written a lovely story about trust and love. Meredith is a character that immediately draws the reader in with an urge to protect her and her son at all costs. Hutch steals your heart from the very beginning (if you are like me and a struggling vet gets to you). These two are kindred spirits that are meant to find each other and the way that Lori weaves their story is very satisfying, sweet, a bit sexy and oh so heart-warming. An enjoyable read that will bring a smile to your face.

Another fantastic book from Lori Wilde about lonely souls dealing with tragedy and abuse in their lives! Well written storyline with mystery, suspense, romance and sexual chemistry that draws you in from the start. The characters are well detailed and have great connections with each other. I always love the people and their stories from Twilight and this book was no exception. Loved Hutch and Meredith's journey very much.

Ms. Wilde never fails to deliver a well-written story but this one really hit home for me. I am currently in a relationship with a man who is dealing with both of the mental health issues Ms. Wilde writes about in this book. This was a very personal read for me for that reason. Ms. Wilde delivers hope for the future along with the HEA that she has written. Another emotional story from Ms. Wilde that I’m glad I got the chance to read.

Well, the book rambled some in the middle and lost my attention but then it moved on. The sex scenes were unnecessary(but mild) and could have been handled so much better(don't get me wrong, I read all types of books) but this was such a nice story, it didn't need the light sex, could have just been alluded to nicely. It actually was a GOOD STORY LINE but I would rate it 3-1/2 stars for not moving on with the program in the middle of the book.

A Christmas gift for yourself! I have read most of Lori's books, and this one ranks as one of her best. This book is a Christmas treasure sure to delight and hard to put down. Jane and Hutch are characters that have you cheering for them. This books also brings attention to domestic violence and our wounded warriors. These two powerful categories are handled with insight and caring. As a survivor of domestic violence; I am grateful that this living nightmare is being brought to people's attention. And it brings the challenges of our veterans to light as well. I don't like to reveal too much about any story; I don't want to ruin the fun as you dive into this wonderful story. So get yourself a copy of Christmas at Twilight, a cup of hot chocolate and a warm blanket. Heaven has just arrived!!! I received this book in exchange for my honest critique; it was a true joy of a task.

I really enjoy Lori Wilde and the books she writes. She creates characters that are very likable and they always keep my attention. The characters in this book were wonderful. This was a good book, however it was a bit predictable. It was also a bit unrealistic in some parts. There is no man on this Earth that would say some of the things that she had Hutch saying to Meridith. It was a bit corny and unbelievable. I enjoyed the read, I just had to get past the parts that made me roll my eyes. Its worth a read if you like Lori Wilde as an author.

First book by Lori Wilde and honestly, after the first couple pages, I was tempted to shelf it due to language BUT, as I continued to read, I fell in love with the characters and story line.

Not your typical Christmas read but, draws you in enough to find the happy ending.

Strong language and some sexual reference but a good plot, likable characters and, real issues of PSTD and, mental illness.

I loved both main characters. Hutch was an emotional wreck and the fact that he couldn't talk made the story more interesting because it was so difficult for them to communicate. Jane/Meredith was also emotionally damaged, and her over the top reactions were complications that made me laugh and cringe at the same time.

I haven't read all of the Twilight, Texas stories, but I'm adding them to my pile to read.

This book focuses on two people with severe PTSD, a sensitive topic for a romance with a Christmas setting. The reader is rooting for Hutch, Meredith and the children to be a family, but their problems seem almost overwhelming. The ending was a little explicit and violent, but definitely a page turner. And what's a romance without a happy ending? You can always count on Lori to wrap it up in a sweet package with a colorful bow.

A typical light-hearted romance with some depth of characterization and a happy ending. Great for reading on a winter night with your woolen clad toes toasting by the fire . I enjoyed this read and Lori Wilde does a wonderful job with her craft, tending her characters and plot like a beloved garden, row by row.

I love a handsome hero and a lovely heroine, don't you?

This is a surprisingly suspenseful story for a book which appears to be a Christmas romance. However, th writing kept me reading. I'm not that much for romances, but this has enough action and suspense in it that a guy like me can find it entertaining. Just know that you are getting into a suspense/romance, not a warm and cozy Christmas love story.

This book is AMAZING. It's gut-wrenching and beautiful. Hutch and Meredith are two of the most real, and flawed, and endearing, characters I've read recently. Just when I think Lori Wilde has written her best book, she proves me wrong by writing another one. This story was not only a romance but it touched on psychological disorders which is something many don't like to talk about. Not only did Lori show us how mental illness can destroy lives if untreated, but she showed us that there are people out there who suffer and do get help. They over come the illness, fall in love and have their happily ever after. Now to patiently wait for the next Twilight, Texas novel. Lori, please tell us there is another one!!

This was a emotionally powerful book. From Hutch's inability to speak to Jane's dangerous ex-husband. I felt the story was really centered on the two main characters and their struggles with only a little bit of Christmas thrown in here and there. I did really enjoy that the author included the characters from her previous Christmas books. I always enjoy that in a series, it's nice that they aren't just forgotten.

Lori Wilde does it again! What a wonderful book! I always fall in love with her characters. This time it was Hutch, a recovering former Delta Force Operator, and Meredith, a mother on the run from her extremely abusive ex-husband. I admire Meredith for being such a strong, kind woman that is not necessarily looking for love in her situation, but willing to accept it and go after what she wants. I would definitely recommend this book to all friends and family. I truly enjoy reading Lori's books and can't wait for the next one!

I generally like Lori Wilde's novels and although the story line in this one was okay, I'm posting this one-star review because of the narrator. I don't know who CJ Critt is or why she was the one chosen to read this. She made the whole novel tedious and almost a chore to listen to it. I'm glad I borrowed this instead of spending money on it.
