In all fairness I haven't finished this book yet - had to push it to the side and read something more entertaining. So maybe when I get the courage to muddle through the rest it'll get better, although sadly I'm not holding out much hope. I keep waiting for it pick up the pace but seems to be the same material over and over and over. Please tell me Mr. Deaver isn't going to become another James Patterson where it's about the quantity of books published and not the quality...

Kathryn Dance is a favourite Deaver character, and I hope there are more stories to come. As usual, the villain is the one you suspect, and then dismiss...Deaver is a master of misdirection and false clues.

Deaver is one of my favorite authors, so I persevered with this novel hoping the simplistic characterization and slow moving plot line would improve. Sadly, it ended as it started - still waiting for the signature Deaver "can't put this down " writing style to appear. There are some interesting plot twists, but even the guest appearance of Lincoln Rhyme and Amelia Sachs has a false ring about it. Let's hope this is an aberration and Deaver will be back to his compelling best soon.

Jeffery Deaver triumphs again with his new character Kathryn Dance and as usual is a master of the twists and turns throughout plots, and a worthy addition to his stable of books designed to test your little grey cells to the limit.

My favourite suspense author - Lincoln Rhyme's series has been my companion on the road for years and Kathryn Dance is a welcome addition! As always, exciting and (clinche but true) page turner once you start!

Wish you release a book more often.... but i'll wait patiently.....

I like the way Jeffery Deaver writes. He tells the story well and doesn't disappoint. I like the Agent Dance books, they are all well written, fun to read, and have interesting, if not too surprising conclusions. XO is no exception. It's a good summer book. Easy reading that doesn't require deep soul searching contemplation. Take it to the beach and enjoy.

Although I would most certainly recommend this thriller, I am wondering (perhaps I'm overly critical?) whether there aren't too many "surprises". However, it is far better than the majority of thrillers out there. A very enjoyable read - difficult to put down!

While I love Deaver' s previous books and love Kathryn Dance's character, this book was just okay. It was somewhat predictable. What I love about Kathryn Dance is her expertise in kinesics and reading people. Her character in this book is not as strong as I would expect. Dance does not "wow" me with her insight as she has done in other stories.

XO review

- As always Jeffery opens up a valise of information on the weel researched Country music history, and the priciples of stalking. I love his late turns, but the end was a bit hard to fathom..

Great book, very typical of Jeffrey Deaver. Just when you think you have it figured out along comes another twist. Really enjoying the development of Kathryn Dance as a protagonist too. Excellent read.

Boring to a fault. Page after page I kept thinking, "When is he going to quit with the music lyrics and the political rambling, and get on with the story". If Mr. Deaver wishes to become either a song writer, or music critic, he should do either of those things in a book on and about those things. If Mr. Deaver wishes to be a political analyst, he should join the ranks of Chris Mathews, etc., and write his opinions as just that, opinions. Way too close to a national election for a fiction writer to be espousing his personal beliefs, whatever way those beliefs happen to lean, to include them in a piece of fiction. Write a letter to some editor and let your position be read in the editorial pages where it belongs.

Until this one, I have enjoyed all of the authors books. No doubt, I will buy the next one, but if it does not return to his usual fare, that will be the last one I will buy.

In the past, I would automatically order any new book by Jeffery Deaver. However, this will not be the case in the future. This book was contrived, forced, and totally unrealistic. I cannot believe that Deaver even submitted this terribly sub par effort for publication.

Very interesting story, that is, if you're into country music! The characters are compelling, or disquieting, the setting is not Kathryn Dance's usual playground, which gives the novel a new flavor; and the end is, well, not quite unexpected, but...
