The Corfu Trilogy

Loved how lively the family was. I could envision each member of the family and friends. Laughed out loud at the antic of Gerry and his adventures. I will have to say that sometimes the descriptive language was a bit too long. Overall I loved it and would recommend it.

Charming and humorous stories about a famous and quirky family when they were all very young, during an idyllic interlude between the world wars. Wonderful descriptions of the land and the animal life of Corfu. Great followup to the PBS series on TV.

Beautifull evocative. I feel as though I am a 10 year old boy in a greek island. Having been a child in the 1960's in North Africa, on the Mediteranian, i am reliving olive trees, geckos and bouganvillia.

A wonderful read,Durrell puts you right in the middle of everything,this trilogy is a wonderful presentation of his time spent on Corfu. His wonderful accounts of his exploration of the animal world is coupled with interactions with his riotously dysfunctional family had me overcome with laughter.This is a great method of escape from this troubled world to one of excellent amusement!!!

For lovers of the Durrell family and their idiosyncracies this is a pleasure. Set in bucolic Corfu with Gerald wandering all over the island finding strange creatures and insects, not to mention even stranger people, the family has a truly memorable holiday. A great escape.

I've never finished a seven hundred page volume so quickly! What an undiscovered treasure; I would never have known of the Durrell family if not for the PBS series this year! I plan to read ALL of Gerald's and Larry's books now.
