Just when I thought Laura’s books could not get any better they do. I was hooked on this book from the first chapter. She has a style of writing that sucks you in and makes you forget everything but the story at hand.
The storyline was fantastic and the characters had depth to them. There was suspense, action and lots of emotions. Absolutely loved Erik and Brynn. There was such a connection and the sparks between these two. A page turner for sure and I highly recommend this be on everyone’s must read list.

Thank you NetGalley and Laura Griffin for the ARC of Desperate Girls by Laura Griffin that I read and reviewed.
This book was an excellent read that was full of both romance and action. I enjoyed the pairing of Brynn and Erik as the main couple because they were matched together perfectly. I also loved that the story kept you guessing a bit throughout the book and gave you a few surprises to keep you on your toes. This was a really enjoyable book.
I am giving Desperate Girls five out of five stars.

I received a netgalley of Desperate Girls by Laura Griffin, in exchange for an honest review. This book has romance and is a full of suspense, murder and passion. Defense attorney Brynn is involved in a trial when she hears that her former colleague has been murdered. The main suspect is a man she helped put in jail, who’s now free and looking for revenge. Reluctantly she is being protected by Erik, They both search for the killer in this thriller. There are many twists in this book and it was enjoyable.

Desperate Girls by Laura Griffin is the first romantic suspense i have ever read. The story itself was very predictable but enjoyable. I liked the mixture of romance and the courtroom/thriller plot. I wasn't expecting the twist at the end! I wasn't blown away by this book but it did keep my attention. Thank you NetGalley and Gallery Books for my advanced copy. All opinions are my own.

Well done, Ms Griffin! Good strong characters I'd love to have in my life especially if I was in trouble. The characters were slowly built as the story began to unfold. There were moments of intense intrigue and moments of pure happiness. Really good job of letting story build without giving away the whole plot. I didn't have an aha! moment until I was supposed to have it. And, great twist at the end!

This book was gifted to me by the publisher in return for an honest review.

I really liked this book. Suspense, crime story, hot romance. This book has it all, as Laura Griffin tells the story of an escaped murderer, who’s objective is revenge killings of those that put him behind bars. A legal team, protected by high security experts, while trying to fulfill their obligation to their client, and clear him of a murder that he didn’t do. Lots of action, suspense, a nice romantic interlude and an ending, that will deal you a wallop.

Thank you to Netgalley and Gallery Books for a copy of the eARC in exchange for a fair review.

Brynn is a now defense attorney but a few years ago she was a young prosecutor. When her former boss is brutally murdered, Bryan and Ross decide to go to a hotel and their boss Reggie decides that they need bodyguards.

Erik know that it is going to be a tough job protecting Brynn because she doesn't believe she needs a bodyguard, that is until the lead detective on the case she worked on with Jen is murdered as well. Suddenly it is a race against time to find the culprit before any more co-workers are attacked.

Will Erik and Brynn be able to figure it out before it is too late? Will he be able to keep her safe?

I liked this book, but I will be honest it lost me in places. I don't mind romantic suspense, sometimes I really enjoy it. This one I found to be just okay. I liked the characters for the most part. Well I really liked Brynn, I found Erik kind of blah. The plot was extremely interesting it just didn't come together the way I wanted it too.

This had a ton of potential and just kind of fell through for me. Nothing I can really say as to what let me down, it just was good, then flat, good and then flat...

Enjoyable read. The story has a few bland spots but picks up and recovers. There are some plot twists, intrigue, a little mystery, the saving grace of this story. The romance is kind of redundant, has been done many times before, not a bad thing, just same ol’, same ol’. One of my questions is where did the title come from? Sure murder of girls/women, however this is a book about one woman. All in all a decent read.

Thank you to Net Galley and the publisher to giving me an ARC for review. "Desperate Girls" is the first book in the Wolfe Security Series. It was a decent police procedural / romantic read with a few twists and turns thrown in told from three POVs.

Laura Griffin’s Desperate Girls is a mix of thriller, legality and romance. This book is well written with engaging characters, and a twisting plot. Griffin keeps the reader guessing, however this is a fast and easy summer read. I enjoyed the legal thriller aspect of this book, unfortunately the romance portion was a bit of an unrealistic stretch but a nice addition regardless. If you are looking for a fast paced summer read give Desperate Girls a serious consideration.

This is the first book in the Wolfe Security series that can be read as a stand-alone.

Before she was a criminal defense attorney Brynn Holloran was a prosecutor and as such worked on a case that sent a serial killer to prison. When the man escapes the maximum security penitentiary he’d been in after three years of incarceration and kills a judge, a woman who was lead prosecutor on his case, Brynn has reason to worry about her safety. Her boss is leaving nothing to chance and hires a security firm to protect his two attorneys.

Brynn is tough, a woman with an intimidating personality to some and she hates the restrictions placed upon her by the security team. She fights them at every turn and then another person is murdered from the same old case and Brynn must accept the fact that those involved in sending the man to prison are now his targets. Law enforcement professionals know that blowback from a case they’d believed settled is always a distinct possibility, Brynn’s worst fears have now been realized. For this woman the job is everything and her personal life has suffered from a dedication that has been an exclusion of all else, she won’t hide as she has an innocent client going to trial in days.

Once a marine, then a member of the secret service, Erik Morgan is now the lead bodyguard of the security team assigned to protect Brynn. He’s an intense, highly controlled man and his frustration at a difficult client is evident, to make matters more complicated he’s attracted to the spunky woman and that he’ll have to manage. When the detectives tracking the killer fail to find him quickly they reach out to Brynn for assistance, she knows the man from her past dealings with him, putting Brynn in greater harm and making things more challenging for the team assigned as her protection.

This book was an interesting meld of genres: murder mystery, police procedural and romantic suspense, more action and suspense than romance though, it’s an offshoot of the Tracers series. The serial killer is motivated by his own righteous anger, he is definitely guilty and that leads to an unexpected twist that comes at you with little prior preparation. The story was told from multiple points of view, that of Brynn, Erik, and the detective seeking the escapee. Emotional depth was a bit lacking, the main characters were likable and relatable, they’d let their jobs define them until true danger showed them what had been missing from their lives. The title is a mystery to me, not sure how it ties into the story.

An advanced reading copy was obtained from the publisher via NetGalley.

Laura Griffin’s latest is very suspenseful, from the beginning to the end. Brynn, the MC, is being threatened by a killer she helped put away during her stint as a prosecutor. Brynn has made the lucrative switch to the defense side of the courtroom, and having an escaped killer at large is impeding with her current case. After another lawyer who helped put the killer away is attacked and murdered, Brynn’s boss makes the decision to hire bodyguards until the threat is contained. Brynn is less than thrilled.

Erik is an ex-military, ex-Secret Service agent who works for Wolfe Security, the company engaged to provide Brynn’s security. I’ll be honest – I felt sorry for Erik from the get-go. Brynn was not happy about having a babysitter, and she gave her handlers no quarter. She argued, evaded, disrupted, and just generally made very plain her distaste for the need of a bodyguard. Her dogged determination to undermine the efforts of the team to keep her safe made my head hurt. I was never clear on why she was so difficult about it. Did she not take the threat seriously? Did she think if she blew off the protection, it would mean the threat was less real? Did she think she could thwart the killer on her own? I never was able to get in Brynn’s headspace as to why she was so stubborn.

The story itself is compelling. Fast-paced, smart, with twists I kind of saw coming, but not the whole scenario. Interesting and engaging throughout.

The romance part of the story was not as compelling. Erik was terrific – thoughtful and as giving as he could be, given the circumstances. Brynn was hard to warm up to, as she was just OTT stubborn, almost to the point of being TSTL.
Although this title isn’t listed as part of the Tracers series, there is a drive-by of Mark Wolfe, brother of the owner of Wolfe Security.

Great secondary characters who would make great main characters, if more stories in this world are forthcoming.

Bottom line – I really enjoy Ms. Griffin’s work. Even though Brynn isn’t my favorite MC ever, the story was compelling. I enjoyed Desperate Girls.

*I received an ARC copy of this title from NetGalley for the purpose of an honest, voluntary review.

Brynn, defense attorney, who was on the case as the offense attorney years before, is being stalked by the escape convict who she helped prosecute years before. Her firm has hired a security firm to protect her. One of the guards, Erik, is interested in her personally. They are 2 strong willed characters who 'butt heads' over many decisions. There is a surprise in the outcome of the previous murders and who did the actual killing.

First of all, I loved the author’s writing style and storylines! This was a book that held my interest from the beginning and all the way to the last page. A strong, independent female attorney trying to prove a young man’s innocence while being stalked. And, a strong independent private security man, and his team, protecting the attorney and her team from this stalker makes the story suspenseful. The author intertwines courage, trust, acuteness, friendship, respect and love between the characters. There’s a subtle underlying storyline that provides a twist toward the end of the book. I will be looking for other books written by this author!

I tried so hard to like the main character, Brynn but man she made it hard! There are strong and hard working women but she was so stubborn at times I wanted to yell at the book.
