Here's a leader whose life is actually worth emulating. I don't generally feel that connected to people I don't know, but I can't imagine being on this earth once this incredible human being passes. A world without Jimmy Carter will not be as bright, but it would have been a lot worse without all the good he did for it.

On a funnier note, my favorite part of the book is toward the end when someone asks him if he ever took the time to relax in his life. His response was to write a book about fly-fishing and other hobbies. The man's response to a question about recreation was to write another book! I have to respect someone who loves his work that much.

I was thoroughly captivated by all of the stories as well as Mr. Carter's telling of them with his personal inflections. It was like having Grandpa Jimmy telling stories of very important times and circumstances.

Extraordinary life dedicated to helping as many people as he can. Regardless of what any of us think about President Carter politically, his contributions after his presidency must not be overlooked.

First, a disclaimer: I am a great fan of President Carter and always have been. This latest book was a joy to read. Although I tried to keep up with most of his bio and I remember most of the events of his very public life, his "Full Life" story filled me in with many stories I had not heard before. My adult children who grew up with Reagan, always talk about Carter in somewhat negative terms. So I try to set them straight. I advised them to read this book and read a book about Reagan, then compare the two lives. One is a national treasure, the other is a B-grade movie star.
