I've never been very good at portrait photography and cringe whenever someone asks me to take a family photo for them. After reading Dan Eitreim's book, I feel more confident about doing portrait photography for my friends and family!

It was a good read and very understandable. It helped me a lot with posing the subject as well as lighting.
I have a lot to learn in that area as I am more use to sports photography. Thank you for a good read and
a lot of helpful hints. Becky Kimes

Good info. Helpful if you are new to the portrait/lighting scene. Good refresher for intermediate level photographers who don't do a lot of portraiture. Great to have on a tablet or smart phone to review when needed. Thanks Dan.

I am not a professional photographer. I just enjoy taking pictures. So at first I wasn't sure this book was for me, but it is great for anyone who wants to take better pictures. Great pointers for facial expressions and what to do with the hands. Thanks for an easy to understand book for the 'non-professionals' out there.

Here's a book with something for everyone. So many great tips, easy to understand and easy to put to use. Experience doesn't matter, if you're a total beginner or the most experienced pro, there's so much for everyone. Easily worth the price.

I found this book to be very informative, but also an easy read. I like the fact that the author explains what to do and how its done, but then also shows example photos. I can definately see myself using these techniques on my next shoots!

This book is very informative on lighting and posing. If you are wanting to know the different types of lighting and posing then this book is for you. I was a little bored with how it read but I did like all the information it had.

Even after reading a few other books on the topic of portrait lighting I did not completely understand short vs broad lighting but this book gave a great summary. At times it was a bit repetitive and rehash of basics (if i am reading a book about how to take better pictures I probably already know to take the camera off auto) but overall a nice summary of portrait lighting that works

Pros: this book covered most of the basics of posing and lighting.
Cons: in the lighting sections, this book does not provide enough examples.

I learned a couple of tips out this book, but not enough to produce stunning portraits.

Very useful simple to understand quick tips on lighting. I feel like I understand flash photography better now. I'm ready to start using this knowledge now. I would recommend this book to anyone new to photography.

I do not necessarily plan on doing portrait photography but one never knows. I downloaded this ebook and read it. There are alot of helpful hints that are specifically for portrait photography. But I think most if not all the same principles could apply to other genres of photography - like candid or street photography. Possibly even landscape photography. I found it very interesting with basic principles to benefit anyone taking/making a photograph.

Thanks, Dan.

I was professional photographer for a major studio chain for 4 years before I retired. This book explains some of the lighting we used and lighting we didn't try. It is well written and easy to understand

This book lays out different lighting and posing techniques and explains the where's and whys without being over technical or too simplistic. I am sure to use this as a reference many times over in the future. Thanks On Target Photo!
