Some of the children's classics become dry and difficult for modern kids to embrace. The Railway Children, whilst containing a little old style language, provides a gripping story line with imagery that children can embrace. Still an excellent read.

The casting is excellent and the script as good as any Masterpiece Theater pressentation. While the story is a bit implausible, it's highly imaginative and entertaining. I can heartily recommend it for family viewing.

The Railway Children is a sweet book with a lovely ending. It is very, very, very dated which I suppose makes it a bit quaint, but also makes it a bit annoying to read. Regularly, the author as narrator inserts their random thoughts into the story which is a bit jarring and pulls you out of the story. The children have interesting adventures, but nothing in how they are told is especially engaging. It’s a decent enough book to read for adults and children alike.
The Blue Fairy Book :: Adventures of Pinocchio :: The Druid of Shannara (The Heritage of Shannara Book 2) :: Magic Kingdom for Sale--Sold! (Magic Kingdom of Landover series Book 1) :: The Children's Bible

This is an absolutely charming tail of a family come upon poor circumstances and how they live and love through the time. Set sometime in England when there were still coal powered trains and Real Gentlemen.

No illustrations, strangely formatted, looks to have been printed at Kinkos. Half the charm of this book is the illustrations and without them it is not the same. Not worth $8.99. the store refunded my money.

This writer has a gift for holding the readers attention no matter what your age. The story is chock full of lessons on how to be a person of character. Open, honest, and loving. Edith was ahead of her time and should be read today. Her influence on Tolkien and C.S.Lewis is unmistakeable Great read.
