Another timeless classic with morals whose meanings still hold as much truth to them today as they did when Carlo Collodi originally wrote Pinocchio. I would recommend to any and all; from the truly young, to those who are young at heart =0)

I've always dislike Pinocchio. Especially how he was in the Disney movie (of which I do remember clearly). I read this book for my university course and as I was reading, my love for Pinocchio grew. It was indeed an adventure to be with Pinocchio who makes you angry and disappointed, but also happy when he finally realizes what it means to have a family.

My 9yr old has watched the Disney movie several times. Once she read the book, it became her favorite book. Instead of borrowing it at the library again, I purchased it for our Kindle. She read it again in just a few days!

Like many modern American kids, my first exposure to Pinocchio was to the Disney movie, which is a good movie, but the original story deserves to be read. There are notable differences, such as the Talking Cricket, whose role is significantly smaller than that of Disney's Jiminy. The Fairy in the movie was a two-dimensional '40s girl in the movie, but in the book, she has a more active role in the story as she serves as a mother figure to Pinocchio.
Overall, like its animated counterpart, Pinocchio: The Tale of a Puppet is a moralistic children's fable. But I found it engaging and amusing as well. We live in a world where great books like The Hunger Games and Harry Potter dominate the youth literary scene, but if you like fairy tales or classic literature, you may want to give Pinocchio a shot after you've finished Katniss's and Harry's stories.

The story is the story, it has been reviewed plenty by others more qualified than me. This rating is for the e-book. The story has captions for pictures, but the pictures are not scanned, otherwise the editing and functionality are fine.

good quality, decent delivery time, and it was pretty fascinating to see how dark the original tale of Pinocchio was.
Granted, the disney films had some dark moments if you sat down and chewed on it, but they fail to get as heavy as the original can get.

So, if you're interested, I would recommend taking a book, or least buying a copy.

When you compare the book and the Disney version of this story, the difference is night and day. Pinocchio is kind of a jerk if you ask me. Throughout the majority of the book, he behaves like a selfish punk, a hoodlum. He kills Jiminey, which they refer to as the talking cricket within minutes of meeting him. Just smashes him dead!
Once he finally does start to behave correctly and develops a conscience, he cannot catch a break. He gets robbed and then thrown in jail, as though being the victim of a mugging were a crime!
Anywho, Pinocchio is a jerk who can't catch a break even when he does learn his lesson. Read the book and then re-watch the Disney movie.

Consider this a masters thesis on Pinocchio. A great deal of effort was made to produce the original Pinnochio script, not the Disney version.

That said, although it's a children's book, it's not a beginners book. Don't buy this thinking it's an easy reader, it's not.

I Feel that this timeless classic PINOCCHIO is a wonderful addition to worldwide literature. It`s moralistic meaning is charming, and it's engaging language is perfect for young and old. Though it's style takes getting used to after brushing through our sensational modern style, it is a refreshing read. I could not put it down and I hope fellow readers will enjoy it as much as I have.

This original bilingual edition of Collodi's Pinocchio is great adult reading. It is loaded with lots of whit and colorful language. The english translation matches the Italian very well, making it easier to understand the Italian.

The Adventures of Pinocchio was a copy of the original, not an abridged copy, so I really liked it. It's great to read aloud to children and grandchildren. It arrived quickly in the mail, and now it's ready for rereading!

This is a great translated version of the original Pinocchio, NOT the version cleaned up by Disney. Illustrations could be better and more abundant, but for the real story of Pinocchio of Tuscany, this is a good version.
