The Blue Fairy Book

A favorite childhood series of books, I loved Andrew Lang's fairy tale books. Cannot tell you how often I checked & rechecked them out of the library when young. Delighted to find them again after so many years.

Full of testosterone. Definitely not Disney. But oh, what fun these myths and tales are. The teller gives the heroes and rare heroines the greatest trouble, makes them suffer for as long as possible, and then gives them in most cases happy ever after. Unless you happen to be a giant or ogre. This is not Shrek either. I especially love The White Cat and The Wonderful Sheep, but I skipped The Terrible Head because it was a rebelling of the Greek myth of Perseus. Also The Master-Maid is a terrific tale.

I purchased this for a Charlotte Mason curriculum and was extremely impressed with the product I received. The hardcover edition by Barnes & Noble for 2017 is absolutely stunning! The detail found in this books just screams that it is a very special book. I do hope they release more of the fairy books in a similar style.

This is an awesome collection of fairy tales. However, this is NOT (necessarily) for children. Also, this does NOT read like a children's book...or a book of fairy tales. Although there are different stories, the storyteller is so talented - and the stories so intricate - that the reader cannot put it down! The character development is exquisite. The story detail is fantastic. This is worth the download! Awesome book!

I'm really happy to be able to read this great A.Lang book.

Not what I anticipated. I bought the set of these to read to my son. As it turns out, fairy tails were very creepy when these were written. So they might be good for teenagers, but they will really freak you out when you read them thinking they were for kids.

This example of the fairy books is rather lacklustre. I enjoy interesting stories, and only a few of the tales could be so named. I would like to find some closely translated tales; there is not the richness of originality and talent in totally Anglicized fairy tales and myths.

These are classic stories that every child should be familiar with! Reading these stories makes for a great family night activity or bedtime stories. We also have them available for reading practice.

Good read.All of my favorite short stories are here and a couple of new ones.It has a large selecton of short stories so it has somthing for everyone.It also has tales of romance and adventure.It was fun reading new things for a change.You'll like that it's for free and because we all don't like paying bills right?And because it's free you can try it for yourself and if you don't like it you can delete it.See?No loss for you.(Don't be suprised you might like it.)Anyway what's your dision?Buy or not?You choose.

The Blue Fairy Book is an anthology of fairy tales where the handsome prince and princess usually find each other. They are not stories for children but adults as they include violence, cheating and other unsavory characters. At the same time they are entertaining and I enjoyed reading many of them.
