I purchased this book for my 8year old daughter & she just loved it.. It was easy reading for her & she was able to understand all the words. It was very clear of her objective & she just wanted to take it with her every where she goes. now she said she knows how to talk to God. I recommend to give as a gift to any young child.

This book is absolutely adorable! My daughter read it last night, then my husband and I read it because she loved it so much she wanted us to read it for ourselves. :) It so perfectly relays the message of prayer and our relationship with God, at a great level for our 7 year old.

Stormie Omartian is best known for her The Power of a Praying books. More than 10 million copies have been sold. The titles include The Power of a Praying Kid, The Power of a Praying Teen and The Power of a Praying Parent.
In What Happens When I Talk to God? Omartian takes her passion for prayer and shares the message that "It's never too early to teach a child to pray."
Aimed at ages 3-7, Omartian helps children understand the importance of prayer, what prayer is, why God wants them to pray, when they should pray and what they should pray about. Children learn that God loves them and that's why they should pray. And they can pray anytime and anywhere for anything. The book encourages children to be young `prayer warriors' and affirms a child's importance in God's eyes.
What Happens When I Talk to God is a book for adults to read with their children. The narrative may be a bit long for three-year-old children, but they'll absorb what their particular attention span allows.
The artwork, by Shari Warren is bright, colorful, inviting and attractive. The best part of the illustrations is the children themselves. They are from every race and as the mother and grandmother of a racially mixed family, I applaud this aspect of the book.
Armchair Interviews says: The Power of Prayer for Boys and Girls is enhanced with Stormie Omartian's book, What Happens When I Talk to God?

This is a good book to help children understand the many ways in which prayer brings them closer to God and how God always listen--eventhough prayers may not be answered in the way we expect them to be. However, the message could have easily been brought forth in half the numbers the pages. The book is far too long.

I bought this book for my daughters. We loved it! I then purchased this book for a friend and her son. Her son is 6, and he really enjoyed it. I have read it to my Bible class at church, (1st-3rd) The kids there were very interested as well. The illustrations are great, and the explanations of prayer were very age appropriate. I think children will come away with a better understanding of how they can talk to God. Yet another fabulous book by Stormie OMartian.
