I have slightly mixed feelings about this one. The author is one of my favorites and I did like this book, but I didnt love it as much as her other books. I know authors branch out from their original works but honestly, I found this one a bit cheezy - cant say why exactly, but I did. Calling him Mr. Darcy the whole time doesnt work in this time period - its just weird. I also would have liked to see more comeuppance for the aunt at the end.

That being said, I did like the h if not the H. All characters were well developed and the book flowed well as I'd expect in this veteran author. It was a good book, but not my cup of tea apparently.

I received an ARC and voluntarily left an honest reveiw

Mr Darcy really got mistreated throughout this book. He made a couple of comments that drew the ire of Lizzie beyond what would be considered a Normal reaction considering she was ever dropping. In spite of her dislike for him, there was a chemistry of attraction sh couldn't ignore and she was horny whenever she was around him.
Her best friend Jane and his best friend Charles seem perfectly suited for each other and it made me angry when Charles dropped her based on William Darcy's opinion.
Once Lizzie calms down and stops being so hot headed there's a good chance for love to flourish.
A distraction throughout the book is Lizzie's drunken, immature sister Lydia. She was a real downer whenever encountered.

I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy. I am not a fan of men that treat women badly and I was really apprehensive of Mr. Darcy at the beginning of the story. Like Elizabeth, I judged him unfairly. Even though I was a fan of the female characters, it took me a little while to get into the story. Once I got to know the characters a little better, I couldn't put it down. I was charmed by Mr. Darcy's as he was revealed. Elizabeth was real and believable. All of the supporting characters were fantastic and well-developed, I was really rooting for everyone to work out their own dreams. The ending built just right and was worth the wait. I loved this book so much, I downloaded another story by this author.

OMG! Great Story. I absolutely loved Mr. Darcy, although, yes, he was a jerk at the beginning of the story. And Lizzie; not too sure of her actually. She could put up with her ridiculous sister, be a caring nurse, but harobr such anger at Mr. Darcy that she thought she'd wreck the apartment? She wasn't consistent and that made me question her. Jane and Charles were great supporting cast of characters in this modern rendition of Pride and Prejudice. Really, I couldn't put down this story . I started it as a quick unwind before bed and before I knew it was 1am. and I didn't care. I had my HEA after all.
I received this book as an arc and am voluntarily submitting my review.

I read and reviewed this book voluntarily.
This was a sweet book.
Mr. Darcy comes off as a privileged arrogant pompous jerk. Well he is all these things... But he has a soft side as well that he doesn't really let people see.
Elizabeth is a Nurse who wants nothing more to HATE Mr. Darcy but she can't. Sparks fly between them but then he just leaves Elizabeth. Can he win her heart?
I really enjoyed this book. Is was a quick read had had some funny moments as well as ones where you want to kill Mr. Darcy. I did not like Elizabeth,s sister (She needs a good swift kick in the butt), although she was a needed part of the book for the story to work out.

'Pride and Prejudice' is one of my all time favourites so a modern day re-imagining of the story always fills me with trepidation. On the whole, I enjoyed what Krista Lakes has done to bring it into the modern day. All my favourite bits have been kept in and received a suitably modern twist, whilst my least favourite are refreshingly absent.

The story is a well known one as are the characters, making the author's task a difficult one. It was well executed and I did enjoy this take on it. It didn't set me on fire but it kept me hooked for a few hours in front of the fire on a cold winter's day.

Pride and Prejudice is one of the greatest romance classics ever. I'll admit, I have never read it. I am not a huge fan of classics but after reading this book, I'm really tempted to read the classic novel. So many books use is it as a model to their story. Some make a retelling, like this book. I love this modern retell of this story. Elizabeth and Mr. Darcy meet, but of course, they get off on the wrong foot. Then he messes up again and again. But he wants to make it right because he sees something in her. I love it! I want to see and compare the original. This is so good and so cute!!! I voluntarily read an advance reader copy of this book.

A great modern retelling of Pride and Prejudice. I have read the book, seen the movies and the retelling of the classic tale. This the first time I read from this author. I think the hate to love aspect was pretty spot on between Elizabeth and Darcy. Is not only their main story. You have other characters, you follow too. I wish that it had Darcy point of view, but it doesn't take away from the story. The story kept a little of the familiarity while also feeling like a new story on its own. I couldn't put the book down until was finish. Definitely recommend this story! This is my honest review based on an advanced reader copy of this book.

I love Pride & Prejudice remakes, and this is one of the best I have read in many years. Not necessarily because the writing itself was amazing (though it was pretty good) but because it inspired in me the same feelings the original does, and captivated me to keep reading, only stopping to sleep.

I liked all of the modern day parallels the author created, many of which I found very creative and entertaining. Without my love of the source material I probably would have found it to be a little bit ho-hum, but with it, I found myself feeling like I was revisiting those old, favorite characters in the modern day.

A much more steamier...yummier version of Pride and Prejudice that was passionate, full of intense heat, simmering with tension and all sorts of goodness!

WOW! Romance in this book is at its absolute FINEST. Its sexy with amazing characters, outstanding banter, and a dialogue and storyline that kept me riveted and wanting...no NEEDING to know more. Every turn of the page was a surprise and from the moment I started reading Mr. Darcy's Kiss I was enamored by everything. Its in my opinion, better and so much sexier than Pride and Prejudice!

Mr. Darcy's Kiss gets a SUPERNOVA HOT FIVE SHOOTING STARS!

Mr Darcy is a billionaire business man and Mr Darcy is what he wants to be called. Elizabeth is a nurse who does not like Mr Darcy whom she seems to butt heads with every time they meet. She feels that he is self-centered, arrogant, insulting and cares about nothing but his business. He is not a people person so does not know what to do to change her opinion of him.
This is a great story of two people working on a crooked path of getting to know one another. The secondary characters really add to the story in a great way.

This was my first time reading anything by this author. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and definitely recommend it to anyone.
I thought the way Ms. Lakes portrayed her characters was on the money. I could almost hear Mr. Darcy' s accent and the pompous tone in it. Elizabeth, the well grounded nurse from NYC, it was pretty easy to put a voice to her as well. Reading the misunderstanding and miscommunication between them was heartbreaking, but reading them overcome them was fabulous!

Always a fan of Darcy type books, British snob actually gets the nice girl because he's just fronting his bad attitude. This Mr. Darcy seems to fall into instant love for Lizzie, she needs to overcome her biased thoughts about this rich spoiled playboy. I really liked Mr. Darcy with his smooth moves and underhanded niceness. Lizzie was just an all-out mess, her crazy attention seeking sister and love sick friend seem to take over her thoughts. Lovely romance, quick read and fun for the holidays. I received my copy from the author but wrote my review voluntarily and unbiased.

Once again, Krista Lakes delivers a perfect romance that will make you laugh and cry, and make your heart flutter. Though I️ have never read Pride and Prejudice, I️ did recognize the characters’ names here in Mr. Darcy’s Kiss. Ms. Lakes’ always has the ability of drawing me into the lives of her characters, and quickly makes me feel like I’m part of their world as their tales unfold with the turn of every page. She always seems to know how to make me swoon and fall in love as well.

If you’re a fan of Krista Lakes, you will definitely love Mr. Darcy’s Kiss. This is a stand-alone novel and a perfect choice to add to your TBR. Elizabeth and Mr. Darcy will capture your heart as will all of the support characters. 5 Stars!!

This was good because their issue was legit and believable. I really had no idea how they were going to overcome it. The blurb mentions Pride and Prejudice, which I have never read, so I can't compare the two. But now I'm thinking about checking it out just to see the comparison. Everything in this seems realistic, however, I wanted to slap Lydia more than once, and I couldn't figure out why they let her tag along all the time. As I was reading, I was hoping Jane and Charles got their own spinoff novel, but they were resolved in this book also. I also enjoyed the couple of shocking moments. It's always good when it's unpredictable, and somehow, mr. Darcy had me rooting for him in the end

I am voluntarily writing this review after receiving an ARC from Krista Lakes. I loved this modern twist on a classic love story. Krista did a great job with writing about Elizabeth Bennett and her interaction with Mr. Darcy. I loved this modernized version of Jane Austen's, Pride and Prejudice. How can't one love this classic love story?

This is a quick read and can be finished in one sitting. The writing is excellent and the characters are developed nicely. The plot is unique and very different from the original classic story line. Very enjoyable.....purchase this wonderful story.....you will not be let done.

A sweet, modern retelling of Pride and Prejudice. Mr. Darcy and Elizabeth have a love/hate relationship from the moment they met. I liked the banter between the two and Elizabeth's journey in discovering Mr. Darcy's not the billionaire "ass" she thinks he is. My favorite couple was Charles and Jane though and would have liked more of their story. I couldn't stand Lydia, Elizabeth's sister, because she was just so immature, childish, and attention seeking. Everyone gets their HEA in this sweet romance and although not my favorite Krista Lakes book, it was enjoyable.

A retelling of Pride and Prejudice in modern day terms. You'll fall in love with this billionaire and all he endured. From their first meeting where he was slapped, to where they meet up by accident the next. Not being able to get her out of his mind he tries to get on her good side but is worried about what body part he needs to protect next. Elizabeth upon her first meeting is attracted to him until he opens his mouth. This story will have you wondering what's next. You get the drama, your laugh out loud moments and hot sizzling attraction shared by both.

Mr. Darcy's is a well written book. Elizabeth met Mr. Darcy, a rich British at a fund raiser and she thought he was really handsome until he opened his mouth and said something to his friend. Elizabeth got kicked out of the fundraiser because she slapped him for something he said. These two met a few times afterwards and it ended up as badly as the first one. The attraction between these two was scorching hot but will they be able to put their pride aside and get to know each other better.

Normally I like modernization's of classic books but this one fell a little short for me. Yes, the characters and storyline are set in modern times but this book followed the original far to much to make me love this. The book is well written, moderately paced (sometimes it dragged for me) with some interesting characters, both mains as well as secondaries. If you've read the original or seen any of the movie adaptations you can follow along handily. Recommend.

“I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book." I absolutely loved this book! I am a sucker for Pride & prejudice type stories. Mr Darcy came off as an arrogant prickly man. But just as you wanted nothing better than to hate him, he made you see inside, passed all of that, and fall in love with him. There were a few twists and turns and miscommunication that kept you reading. The author wrote in such a way that made you become invested in the characters and their story. I loved reading to see how the story unfolded. Great story!

I am incredibly hard to please with any book calling on Pride and Prejudice as inspiration but this is an incredibly satisfying read. The book honors the source material while still feeling original. Elizabeth has a full plate to say the least, and their chemistry is sparky as ever when it comes to Darcy. This is an incredibly satisfying read in it's own right and I would say that I find this worth or both purists as well as anyone new to Pride and Prejudice. I'm just as in love as ever. I normally like Krista Lakes work, but this one did nothing for me. I liked Jane, Charles, and Geo. Everyone else I either disliked or was indifferent to throughout he book.

I didn't feel any chemistry between Lizzie and Mr. Darcy. Not even when his character became less hard, or Lizzie became less judgemental.

As I stated before, I enjoy Krista Lakes books, but I couldn't wait for this one to end. Everyone got their HEA, but by the end, I didn't care.

I gladly volunteered to review this ARC: Mr. Darcy is opinionated stuck up jerk. He makes judgements about ppl that he really needs to keep to himself until he learn whether or not their true.
Elizabeth Bennet is a Cardiac ICU nurse, she deals with sick and sometimes dying patients. She has her master's in nursing and Mr. Darcy just should a kept his mouth closed when he spouted his crap about her and her sister.
I'm not gonna tell you any more because you really need to read this story........... I think it's GREAT.

Due to an English teacher who spoiled Pride and Prejudice, I normally avoid all the modern day inspired retelling; however, I have always enjoyed Krista Lakes’ stories. After reading this story, I am so glad I gave it the chance. Elizabeth, an ICU cardiac nurse, meets airline mogul, Mr. Darcy at a charity event for the hospital that she won tickets to attend. Their initial meeting did not go well and it seemed to start a pattern for less than perfect encounters. The supporting characters and plot twists made this an enjoyable read.

I voluntarily received an Advance Reader Copy of this book for an honest review. I am always amazed at the incredible talent of this author every time I read another of her books. This was a very well written book and I was captivated from the very first page. The characters had depth and were flawed but very endearing. I enjoyed the verbal sparing between Elizabeth "Lizzie" and Mr. Darcy. This was a modern twist on a beloved classic and I loved it just as much. I couldn't put it down until I had read the last page.

From my understanding this is a modern day adaptation of the classic pride and prejudice. With that being said I have never read pride and prejudice so I wouldn't really be able to compare the stories. I did find the story of mr. Darcy and Elizabeth enjoyable and was pleasantly surprised since I usually don't enjoy classic reads. He could be a little annoying at times but I think that's the case of many main characters. Krista has a way with words that will pull you in to her stories. Overall, I would still recommend this story especially if you have read pride and prejudice and could compare better than I could.

What a great quick read. When Lizzie Meets Mr.Darcy she hates him right away. He is arrogant, jerk. But when he says her name with that accent she melts and hates it.
Mr.Darcy is drawn to Lizzie although she is very different they the woman he usually is into.
This book is sweet, funny and will keep you turning the pages. I love the that all the characters in the book have a good part in the story. A must read book as all Krista’s books are.

Pride and Prejudice in todays world. Krista has brought Elizabeth and Mr. Darcy into todays world with an amazing story. If you have read or seen Pride and Prejudice movies you will recognize some of the lines but the love story Krista has created is wonderful. Krista developed the story and the characters so you are immediately drawn into their lives and the lives of those around them. You will laugh at the antics of Lydia and cry with Lizzie and Jane.

A Review of Mr. Darcy's Kiss by Krista Lakes

William and Elizabeth - 4 Stars

For those that loved the original telling of Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen, you should understand all the nuances Ms. Lakes gives us. With plenty of steamy moments and just mild profanity, this was an easy book to get lost in. Loved these two characters and how spunky Elizabeth was, but not so much love for some other characters.

Updated version of the classic Jane Austin based in NYC.

Elizabeth Bennet – ICU cardiac nurse
Jane – best friend – art conservationist of postmodern paintings
Lydia – sister – wants to be famous at any cost
Charles Bingley – art lover, millionaire hotel owner
William Darcy – British billionaire and airline company owner
Aunt Catherine – COO of airline company
Georgiana – Darcy’s sister, recovering from illness
George Wickham – becomes Lydia’s agent, former step-brother of Darcy
Fritz – friend and coworker of Darcy

Lizzy and Darcy meet at a hospital fundraiser where mean words are overheard and a face is slapped. Then they connect on the dance floor at a night club and an even hotter encounter at a hotel opening. I really enjoyed this retelling of Pride and Prejudice. No major surprises, but a fun read.

Intriguing story and not completely like the original so it was interesting to read where the plot would go. The main characters from the original were in this story with small variations on their relationship to each other. Great chemistry between Elizabeth and Darcy and the other supporting characters The core theme of pride and prejudice and loads of misunderstanding kept me reading this story to see how this version would end.

I loved everything about this story. I was completely drawn in from the first page. I loved the interaction between the characters. My only disappointment was that I felt the ending was a little short in details. I felt the last chapter and epilogue were a bit rushed. I would have liked a bit more for that part of the story.

I haven't read Pride and Prejudice but after reading this I am going to as it to my list.

As a fan of historical romances, this was fantastic, even though this version was a contemporary version. I loved the new twists and turns that still kept true to most of the original. Mr. Darcy's Kiss by Krista Lakes was not what I expected but thoroughly enjoyed it!

A modern spin on Pride and Prejudice, Mr. Darcy the rich, British playboy and totally hot meets Elizabeth at a function and she is attracted to him until he makes some very rude comments about her and she ends up slapping his face!!

Lots of tension and attraction between these two and watching how this plays out is fun! !

I enjoyed Mr. Darcy’s Kiss and the modern take on Pride & Prejudice. I think the hate to love aspect was pretty spot on between Lizzie and Darcy. I love Pride & Prejudice by Jane Austen and I really liked this modern day retelling of the story when Billionaire Mogul Mr. Darcy meets ICU Nurse Elizabeth Bennett. This version had some heat to warm up your kindle. The story had some really good twists in it that will keep the story fresh and new. Great character development between all of the characters. The slow build between Mr. Darcy and Elizabeth is great. If you are a fan of the orignial than this book is a must read.

I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book. This is a wonderful contemporary telling of Pride and Prejudice. I think the author perfectly molded the characters to the modern day. It's the same wonderful feeling of Jane Austen with a twist of today's life. Quite a few steamy parts, but let's be honest... We ALL wanted that in the original! I've enjoyed Krista Lakes writing in the past and 'Mr. Darcy's Kiss' is no different! Definitely recommend for all Pride and Prejudice lovers!
