I was hugely proud of my pre-order for this. When it arrived, I couldn't wait to be the hero and give it to my daughter. I felt like a fool when she told me she already owned 2 of the 3 stories in other printed Riordan books. Sad day. She was happy to receive it, but I feel like I wasted my money.

I’m a big fan of the Percy Jackson series, so I jumped at the chance to read Demigods & Magicians, where Percy and Annabeth meet the Kane siblings. I don’t read the The Kane Chronicles, so I’m not as familiar with the characters. But the characters (especially Sadie) are fleshed out well.
Demigods & Magicians is comprised of three short stories. The first, is an adventure with the two boys as they meet while fighting a monstrous creature. The second story involves the two girls in a similar way. In the third story they all team up to take down the big baddie. Fans of either or both of the series will enjoy this book. The stories are exciting and humorous as the kids all get to know each other and the Egyptian magic versus the Greek demigod powers. It’s fast-paced and a fun, quick read.

A fun crossover series of adventures as Percy Jackson and Annabeth Chase meet up with the Kane siblings to fight Egyptian/Greek crossover evils. The three short stories have been previously released as eBook only publications, but are now combined here in hardback format/dead tree format for the first time. If you already own the eBooks, there are still a few extras included. A one page letter from Percy explaining the set up. Plus samples from Sword of Summer, the first of the Norse Mythology series and the first few pages, a short chapter from the new, series where the Greek god Apollo has been turned into a human teen as punishment and turns to the demigods for help, including his buddy Percy.
An enjoyable addition to Rick Riordan's mythology in the modern world collection, but if you already own the eBooks, you many not want to spring for the pulp version.

First of all, yes, I do own each individual e-book plus this physical copy of the book that bundles together all three stories :)
-The Son of Sobek-
Percy AND Carter? YAY!! Rick basically answered our prayers of a cross over and the result was pure freakin' awesomeness! I absolutely loved everything about it! And if you've got no idea what I am talking about, Percy Jackson from "Percy Jackson and the Olympians" and "Heroes of Olympus" AND Carter Kane from "The Kane Chronicles" meet in this clash of mythologies! This short story was told in Carter's POV, and was extremely funny! I love both Percy and Carter and them meeting each other... you just gotta read it!
For it being a short story, The Son of Sobek was pretty action-y, which I always love about Rick's novels. They're never slow going! The ending leaves us with a sort of cliffhanger... Is there a chance that Carter and Percy might meet again? Absolutely! Will Rick make it happen? Hopefully! But one never knows...
Rick, as always, has created a master piece for us to devour. It was fantastic! It is especially a MUST-read for those who are fans of Percy and/or Carter!
-The Staff of Serapis-
In The Staff of Serapis, we have Annabeth who is just minding her business in downtown NY, when all of a sudden she see a monster... that ignores her? And to top it off she has never seen anything like it! So she follows said monster and runs into a feisty British girl (Sadie!) who is also hunting a devious little creature. Without giving too much away, Annabeth and Sadie team up to fight this monster and something much bigger that they did not expect... they need to stop it before it destroys the world. But then again, these seems to be their normal ;)
I LOVED the novella, of course! It was a brilliant mix of Greek/Egyptian mythology and the Percy Jackson series/Kane Chronicles into one story! Some Big Big Things went down in this short story, so I was surprised that it was just a novella. But Sadie and Annabeth handled things amazingly!
Speaking of the Dream Team, Annabeth is so good at distracting enemies just by talking to them and throwing them off... she is such a clever girl! She is the daughter of Athena for a reason ;) And Sadie was sassy, as always. I really missed her! I mean, the Kane Chronicles has been over for a while now, so it was great to see her again :)
I loved that there were so many references to past books, making me go, "Ah, yes. I remember that." The Big Mother thing from The Mark of Athena , for example, that was so funny! And Rachel Dare, the oracle, throwing a blue brush at the Titan Kronos's eye... Oh, good times :) And Sadie and Annabeth telling each other about their lives... I was giddy with excitement to see their reaction! I mean, two of my favorite series together in one story? How freakin' great is that?!
This novella was made of pure awesomeness! It was a lot of fun, with so much humor, and mythology that was actually new to me. I mean, Serapis? I have never heard of him! But using him in this novella was SO clever! I really loved learning about this deity and the mythology of his creation. So cool! And I hear there's going to be another novella with Pery, Annabeth, Carter, and Sadie! So exciting! I really cant wait! And if you have not read the Percy Jackson, Heroes of Olympus, or the Kane Chronicles series, well I highly recommend them!!
-The Crown of Ptolemy-
This whole crossover was so epic that it felt like it could’ve been a whole series on it’s own, it was certainly complex enough. But at the same time, it was SO perfect just as short stories. It makes no sense, I know, but it was just great!
The plot was very interesting--I have never heard this Greek/Egyptian god before nor the magic, so that was very cool to read about. I mean, a god that is both Greek AND Egyptian? Mind = blown! I love mythology of any kind, so this was absolutely perfect for me! I learned something new!
And as always, I loved the characters. It’s been awhile since we last saw Sadie and Carter in The Kane Chronicles, so it was nice to see them again in this. And, of course, Annabeth and Percy! Yay! The interaction between these four was my favorite thing EVER! This last short story was told in the POV of Percy, YAY! While we got to see his POV in the Heroes of Olympus, that is in 3rd person POV while this was in 1st. And I much prefer 1st person POV.
This was so much fun, as always. Crossovers are just great! So if you love any/all of Rick Riordan’s series, I highly recommend you read these short stories! They are amazing!

I have been a fan of the Percy Jackson and accompanying series of books that are off-shoots of the original series since the beginning. Thus, you probably would guess that I would be interested in reviewing this to see how well it connects to the universe. In reading this, what I loved was the intermingling of the separate universes. I also love how the author delves deeply into each character and continues to develop both a backstory and the relationship between the characters. The stories in this book were easy to read, short and engaging. I found that I was compelled to keep reading as I wanted to really see what would happen next and you will too. I truly hope that the author will continue to have these characters and others from different book series interacting together in books to come!

This book is not one story with one plot. Instead, it contains three cross-over stories when Percy Jackson, Annabeth and the Kanes meet. Percy Jackson and Annabeth are characters in their own series called Percy Jackson and the Olympians. Similarly, the Kanes have their own series called the Kane Chronicles. Both these series are written by Rick Riordan. This book also contains a sneak peek at Rick Riordan’s upcoming book called “The Trials of Apollo.”
I love the Percy Jackson series, but did not like the Kane Chronicles as much. But together in the same book, they make an amazing team. I don’t have a favorite part of the book because it was all full of action. The characters work to fight the bad people together. One bad person wanted to build a lighthouse for evil, another wanted to become a god, and another was a gigantic crocodile. My favorite character in this book is Percy Jackson, of course. He has a magical pen that turns into a sword when you uncap it. The pen also reappears in his pocket no matter where he last put it. Percy Jackson is also very funny. Will they be able to defeat all the monsters? Read the book and you’ll find out.
I give the book 5 stars because it was so enticing that I had to keep turning the pages. I recommend this book to kids who love Rick Riordan’s books and Ancient Mythology.

I love this crossovers! I want more stories! Maybe a series. That would be super cool.
This book is just the stories that we had already read, but al together in one book. This book is for fans of Rick Riordan that like to have the print version of everything he writes. Like me. lol

This was the first crossover between the Percy Jackson series and the Kane Chronicles and I really thought it was worth the read! My only wished is that the stories were a little bit longer, but overall, it was a great read.

My son loves Rick and has read all of his books and loves this book too. He says that it's probably a good idea to check to see if one of the stories is included in the back of one of the other books.
