-- MY THOUGHTS --
As a teen from the wrong side of town and a troublesome upbringing, Sadie was a hellcat. She was also Eli's first... arrest, that is, and he'd never forgot his first. Even ten years later, when Sadie returns to town to attempt putting down some roots by opening a B & B out of a house on Garrett land. She's smart and sassy, he's stern and sexy. Together... watch out! The characters are a joy to get to know and watch interact as the story unfolds; the more they fight their attraction, the more entertaining they become. Although there are times that I wonder why Sadie would put up with the crap-tastic attitude Eli directs at her... it, occasionally borders emotionally abusive! Both of them need to get their heads out of the past; what's done is done... don't re-hash it at every face-to-face!
The secondary characters are supportive to the story without trying to seize the plot. The plot progressed smoothly, but was lacking in any major dynamics - most of it was rather even level. It wasn't until about 80 percent into the story did things really pick up in pace, but in no way did the prior portion drag. I had a bit of an issue with the way some of the conflicts were resolved with avoidance and denial, but in the end most of it was resolved maturely. The predictability was pretty low and the conclusion was mostly solid. There were no noticeable cliffhangers.
I look forward to reading Connor's story next, he's such a tragic character.

Part Time Cowboy by Maisey Yates, is the latest in her series that is set in the coastal town of Copper Beach, Oregon. Sadie Miller returns to her home town in the hopes of putting her past to rest and find what she has been running away from for the past several years. Eli Garret is the deputy sheriff who had the pleasure of arresting an out of control Sadie when she was 17 and he was new to the force, and even though there last encounter was 10 years ago neither one is willing to see the person before them. Sadie’s plans include opening a Bed and Breakfast in a house that has been in Eli’s family that is situated in close proximity to Eli’s own home, and even though Eli has made it clear to her that he wants nothing to do with her their worlds continue to collide. If Sadie was the only issue that Eli was dealing with he may have been able to function better, but he has an angry older brother, a little sister he believes he is responsible for, and he is running for Sheriff. The weight of the world is sucking the life out of Eli, but somehow Sadie wiggles her way in to his heart, and teaches him how to enjoy life. This book is a heartfelt, passionate, funny tale that Ms. Yates has crafted for her readers. It is a book I would recommend to anyone that enjoys a chuckle with their romance.

First in the Copper Ridge (OR) series, Sadie Miller has gone home, in spite of the demons of her past that sent her running a decade ago. But, she's determined, so much so that she's written a 5-year lease to run a B&B located on the Garrett ranch.
Eli Garrett is the deputy sheriff and the man who arrested her years earlier. He couldn't be more hot in her eyes, though she can't stand how he makes her feel. She is irritating in the extreme to him, but he can't seem to get her out of his mind, even after they agree to a sex-only relationship. A kind of scratch-the-itch-and-it-will-go-away philosophy that backfires for both of them.
But when Connor's livelihood is threatened, Sadie is certain it's her fault and Eli agrees he has to get her out of his life. Now what are they going to do? Will she run again, even if it means breaking that lease? Can he get her to stay so they can work things out? It's a journey worth taking for readers.

3 Stars. Forklift to carry the Emotional baggage, and a ranch without fire fighting abilities.
The storyline was interesting but the actions were not realistic. Majority of main characters had issues that just dragged you down. The dialogue was somewhat informative and occasionally humorous.
A ranch without any fire fighting provisions does not make any sense. A huge barn for animals, hay, feed and equipment storage. Where was the sprinkler system and smoke & fire alarms? People refused and failed to try and prevent the fire from spreading to the houses. The parents of the kids who set the barn on fire did not apologize.
Not exactly a cliff-hanger but did leave several questions unanswered.
No desire to re-read this story. I may be interested in other works by this author.
Remember this is my person opinion and does not reflect on the author.

I am one of those readers who loves reading books with angst. The heavier the angst, the more I love them. Maisey Yates' Part-Time Cowboy had angst in spades, but it also had heart and humor and so much raw, honest emotion. I loved Sadie and Eli. My heart hurt for them, and for Connor, Liss, and Kate. This story had everything and it came together in one long, satisfying journey. The obstacles weren't easy or quick to fix but readers get an up close and personal, in-depth view of who these character are and what makes them tick. These are people you might meet on the street and to me, that makes this book one of my all time favorite reads.
Part-Time Cowboy was a great full-length introduction to Maisey Yates' town of Copper Ridge, and the Garrett family who live in it. I am very much looking forward to the next Copper Ridge book, because I know it's going to be another emotional roller coaster ride and it's one I can't wait to go on.

I love ornery and stubborn Eli who fights with himself after encountering his potential girlfriend or wife, (even tho he has not got that far in his mind). I think it is so cute and funny because I know he will fall in the end. Great contemporary romance, fast paced, actually made me laugh in places. Great narrator, one of my favorites, teamed with a great author, my first book read of hers. Will definitely look for more from Maisey Yates!

I received an ARC of Maisey Yates, Part-Time Cowboy. This story proved to be an emotional read about the importance of second chances as well as the power of forgiveness. The first novel in Copper Ridge Series is a beautiful story of a woman trying to face her past by coming home and starting over. Unfortunately, there are some who don't believe the change. Love this story and would like to thank Harlequin and NetGalley for this heartwarming tale. Great story Maisey Yates.

Part Time Cowboy started out strong but it dragged so much for me that in the end it was just kinda meh.
I absolutely loved Sadie from the get-go. She was fun and spunky and had the best innuendos that I couldn't not love her. Eli on the other hand... At first I hated him, then I kinda tolerated him, then I kinda hated him again, but in the end he definitely grew on me. It was really once he put himself out there that I understood why he acted the way he did and had it not been for that I probably would have kept right on hating him.
But let's get to the story shall we?! Sadie left home when she was a teen and hasn't been back in ten years. She's a runner... She's moved all over the country, never letting anyone get too close, and then she packs up and moves on again when she feels that it's time. At first I was curious what could have possibly been so bad that she always felt the need to run and even after she explained it I didn't really get it... But once we got to the end and felt her reaction to the way Eli acted towards her, I totally got it.
Well after ten years of running, Sadie has decided to move back home to Copper Ridge to open up a B&B. Within the first few minutes of being back in town she runs into Eli Garrett, the cop that arrested her when she was a teen and is essentially the cause for her running all those years ago.
Eli is a man that lives for control and everything about Sadie has that control spinning away from him. His mom left when he was a kid, his dad was a drunk up until he died in a drunk driving accident, he's been taking care of his sister since she was just a baby, and his older brother lost his wife a few years ago so he's been taking care of him too... Basically Eli feels like the weight of the world rests on his shoulders... Which makes him act like a huge jerk to Sadie.
The whole first half of the book is filled with Eli and Sadie hating each other while secretly wanting to rip each others clothes off and while that works to an extent I felt like it just dragged on for way too long. I mean, they're old enough to know that when you want someone that bad there's no use fighting it and quite honestly they both just got on my nerves.
Of course once they gave in and started their no-strings relationship things picked up a bit. The sexy times were smoking and I loved to see Eli lose control. But we all know how no-strings relationships always end up turning into more. Luckily there weren't any huge misunderstandings or one of them admitting they wanted more and the other didn't but Eli did act like a huge jerk at one point and broke poor Sadie's heart. I loved that in the end, though, they both put their hearts on the line and decided to fight for their relationship.
Overall, this was an okay read... Like I said, it started off strong and ended great but I had a hard time really getting into it and never felt fully invested. At this point I'm still up in the air as to whether or not I'll read the next book in the series.

Part Time Cowboy

Harlequin HQN, Mar 31 2015, $7.99
ISBN 9780373779598
A decade ago, as an out of control teen with a record Sadie Miller left Copper Ridge, Oregon for good. Now ten years later, Sadie returns home hoping to start over. On her first day back in town, Sadie runs into the one person she planned to avoid at least until she settles in; Deputy Sheriff Eli Garrett, the rigid rancher who arrested her just before she fled Copper Ridge.
Having enough tsuris to last several lifetimes from his siblings, Eli has no doubt the bad seed remain the same felonious troublemaker she was as a teen; but frustrated by his attraction to Sadie in spite of his upper head warning him not to. Making matters more difficult on his already out of control libido is Sadie has taken over the B&B on his family ranch. Likewise Sadie loathes her yearning for the by the book cop to kiss her.
This Copper Ridge Oregonian romance (see e-novella Should Have Been A Cowboy) is an entertaining contemporary gender war between two amiable opposites in love. The storyline starts leisurely enabling readers to meet the key series players and the rustic locale, but once we learn who’s who, the pace accelerates into a warm humorous drama.

This was not for me. I liked the characters and want to read more about them. But there is so much sex in this book. If you took those scenes out it would only be a short story.
This deals a lot with abuse by parents and mates. Sadie Miller saw her father abuse her mother and she learned to not let people to close to her. She never stays in a place too long and never looks back.
Now for the first time she has come back to a place she had lived before.
The Garrett family also was abused, but mostly by being left alone. Eli and Conner took care of the ranch and their little sister after their mother left them and their father became a drunk.
Eli became wanting to protect everyone. He is a deputy Sheriff. He never plans on marrying. He is always in control.
The setting is in Oregon a small town on the coast.
I was given this ebook to read by Net Galley and Harlequin. In return I agreed to give honest review in return.

Boring and unbelievable.
The main character was supposed to be a professional woman. I had a hard time believing a professional woman would act or talk in the way the author has written.
If you like one sex scene after another with no real plot you might enjoy this book.
I don't think I will be purchasing any other books from this author.

Part Time Cowboy by Maisey Yates is definitely a winner. It's well-written and easy to follow. As soon as I started reading, I quickly become engrossed in this author's characters and felt as though I was watching every move they made from the sidelines. These characters are fully developed and have so much feeling to them. Sadie and Eli have history together and when Sadie comes back into town, they don't necessarily see eye to eye on a few things. It was a pleasure watching these two bicker and the banter flowing between them was fun, but it was also amazing watching them connect on an emotional level. When Sadie tells her story towards the end, I will admit to crying at that part. The emotions just jump out at you and make you feel what the character is feeling. My heart literally hurt for her. Sadie is one of those characters that you can't help but love and respect. Even after everything she went through, she never let it bring her down. She made something of herself and in return is helping other people. Eli is a great hero, who cares about his family and his town. He's a great person, but he's even better with Sadie at his side. I definitely recommend Part Time Cowboy to anyone looking for a great romance and a fun story. Eagerly waiting for the next book!
Please RatePart Time Cowboy (Copper Ridge)
So I liked Sadie a lot. She is kind of nomadic, every couple of years she just kind of picks up her life and moves. It makes for very interesting life and meeting new people, but she doesn't ever get the chance to put down roots. She kind of does this a self preservation type thing, can't get too attached if you never stay anywhere to long. But as she got older I think she started to realize she was missing out by not having a place to call home. So she went back to Copper Ridge, signs a 5 year lease and decides to open up a B&B. It's definitely ambitious, and it's also something that is out of character for her. I really respect that about her, that she is willing to take such a risk and work so hard to make something she wants happen.
Eli is an interesting guy, you know there is more going on beneath the surface with him, but he is kind of one of those grunt and nod kind of guys. Or at least that's how he seems to me. But that being said it's not to say he isn't an interesting character. Eli's family has been through some hard times in their lives, which has made Eli really appreciate order. So he definitely comes of as bossy on more than one occasion. He's also the local law enforcement, and the last person to arrest Sadie before she left town way back when. Needless to say Eli is not exactly what one would consider thrilled about the idea of Sadie living on his land now that she has this new five year lease.
I kind of loved the interactions between Eli and Sadie. The have chemistry that is for sure. They have great hot and steamy moments, great emotional moments, and they have a lot of funny moments between them as well. I liked watching them work out who they were to each other and more than that I liked seeing Eli and Sadie really figure out who they are as people and what they want with their lives. There is some interesting events that happen at the end which I also really enjoyed and thought it set up the ending quite nicely.
If you like Maisey Yates, or you like a good cowboy romance, then this is a book you should check out. I love small town romances with cowboys and this one was just such a fun read for me, I would highly recommend it.
