What a fun story! Honestly, I've been searching for a fun, romantic book with lots of sex and I got lucky to locate two of them at the same time. The other one is In Bed with a Highlander. Also, a wonderful book.

Some of this story made me roll my eyes, but no matter. I saw those parts were needed for the story and didn't take any of the fun away for me.

This is the first book of the Cynster Sisters Trilogy and I'm getting the other two books for sure!

Stephanie Laurens has an excellent formula for historical romances: adult H & H with strong personalities; alpha males and independent females who experience intense emotions but live lives in which honor and family are the most important elements; action-packed plots. I really like that Laurens gets inside the heads of both H & H, and there's no doubt she creates a seductive fantasy world.

The problem is that it is a formula. If you've read 10 or 20 Laurens books, then you've read Viscount Breckenridge to the Rescue 10 or 20 times already. The dangerous rake and wealthy society woman come together early in the novel to address some danger. They have sex early and often, and he becomes inordinately possessive, but resists admitting he's in love until she forces him to. We're even back to the Cynsters in this novel. Enough already!

It started out ok. The section with the kidnappers was moderately interesting. But then begins the traditional Giant Misunderstanding that I always find so tedious. "I love you but you don't love me. Blah blah blah sob sob sob." Whatever.
And Then She Fell (Cynster Sisters Duo) :: Lady Osbaldestone's Christmas Goose (Lady Osbaldestone's Christmas Chronicles) (Volume 1) :: A Rake's Vow (Cynster Book 2) :: A Rogue's Proposal (Cynster Novels, Book 4) :: The Tempting of Thomas Carrick (Cynsters Next Generation Series Book 2)

The whole trilogy starts with a plot of revenge against the Cynster family. Heather is looking for a hero, she gets her rakish Viscount. A good effort, a good beginning and a mystery for books to come.

The Cynster family returns! This time, it is Heather Cynster who determines that none of the young bucks on the marriage market suit her - and she is now nearing the reality of spinsterhood. So, she ventures into the more adult environs of Lady Hereford's salon in the hope of finding a more adult male who stirs her interest. She discovers that Viscount Breckenridge, a friend of her cousins, is not only there, but determined that she leave. As he watches her walk toward her carriage, another carriage pulls up beside her - and kidnaps her.
Breckenridge is well-steeped in the concept of protecting defenseless females, especially relatives of his friends. He takes off after the carriage containing Heather and the kidnappers and follows them to Gretna Green in Scotland. Multiple problems get in the way of their developing interest in each other.
Fans of Ms. Laurens and especially of the Cynster series will recognize the concept behind this novel - it is not new. It is, however, sufficiently well done to engage the interest of anyone who enjoys historical romances, with their heroic men and extensive and detailed sexual encounters along the way.
This is the first of a new Cynster Trilogy. Ms. Laurens' fans will want all three of them.

I generally enjoy books written by Stephanie Laurens. This book, however, is slow and boring. The story line is too unrealistic and the kidnapping goes on way too long. I'm hoping the second book in the series picks up the pace.

Stephanie Laurens once again gives us characters to love and cherish with a story of love, adventure, danger, sensuality and a vivid sense of time and place. Heather and Breckenridge will steal your heart as the embark on their own "happily ever after". The dialogue is crisp and intelligent, the love scenes will have your heart beating faster, and the danger will have you on the edge of your seat. I am very happy to recommend Viscount Breckenridge to the Rescue to anyone who loves a good romance.

Stephanie Laurens is a master wordsmith. The books are enjoyable. It is easy to get into them, and you really like the characters and connect with them. It made me want to read more books in the series. Kept moving well and never felt bored. I would highly recommend this book for anyone who likes historical romance.

This might have worked as a short story, but there wasn't enough plot to support what turned out to be a long and somewhat tedious formula novel. I like the Laurens books, and am intrigued enough by the story lurking behind this one to look at the next two in the series, but this particular one is not worth the time it takes to read it.

I have read the Cynster Sisters Trilogy and loved each one of them. The female characters have lots of "grit" and have intelligents and imagination Stephanie Laurens is one of my favourite authors and I've read most of her books in the paperback format and I'm now in the process of downloading all of her books onto my kindle. I would recommend Stephenie Laurens books to anyone who is into reading historical novels.

Viscount Breckenridge to the Rescue: A Cynster Novel (Cynster Sisters Trilogy Book 1)

As always Ms. Laurens delivers a scintillating read! Her story lines are always complex as are the characters she inserts in to them. They are always memorable. A highly recommended author to read.
