Very good book. The characters were very well developed. I think the gift that Ruby had was allowing God to work through her to heal. It bogged down in places, but all in all, it was a very enjoyable read. I would recommend this book. I have already started on the next book in the series.

This is an interesting story. It tells of the struggles and segregation of the whites and blacks. As for the telling of special healing powers, I do not know the mind of the Lord on this subject. What comes to mind is the Scripture "the urgent prayer of a righteous person is very powerful in its effect.". James 5:16

I enjoyed reading Healing Ruby immensely and I could hardly put it down. Ruby is a very courageous young girl who stands up for what she believes is right. I think she would be more believable if she had a selfish thought now and then, but I do like her. I must admit I'm still not sure if the title refers to Ruby's ability to heal or the fact that she needs healing of a different sort herself. I'm looking forward to the other books in the series Historical fiction is my favorite genre because I enjoy learning more about different time periods in different places. This one really delivered on that. I felt like I was there.

Thoroughly enjoyed this book. As a matter of fact, disaffected end I couldn't put it down. I think it is very well written. The story is about a young girl learning to deal with tragedy by believing in God.

Jennifer Westall has created a series with wonderful insight and depth of feeling and a story and characters that will be long remembered. Healing Ruby is the first book in the series. It deals with life in rural Alabama in the 1930's. Ruby Graves and Matthew Doyle had become beloved friends by the middle of the first book. If you like tension, you will love this book and the rest of the series! The story is very compelling and the series eventually takes you through the war years and into the jungles of the Philippines. Great research, great ending. All four books are worth reading!

Beautifully written and interesting to say the least! The . Spiritual aspect a nd racial piece appeared accurate Inspite of the ugliness. of the Times. Ruby does appear too mature for her age. The book and plot was a tear jerker. I could hardly it down.

This depression era story definitely kept my interest until the very end. I didn't know that this is a trilogy, I don't know if I want to read two more books to get to the HEA if there is one. I would rather have one super long novel, than three separate books.

The storyline is very believable and keeps you interested in turning the pages to see what happens next. You also look forward to the next book as a continuation of the story. Full of compassion that we don't see in the world today.

This a great book. Kept me turning pages nit wanting to set it down. This is set in the 1930's era. Main character is a small girl who as tackle life through hard times. From love, to God's calling, through segregation times this little girl gives her all to the community hoping to help just one more life.

The story was great from the beginning. Loved the characters and the way God used some of them for His good. Other characters were just like our world. ..out for themselves and their own glory and satisfaction. A great read that imparts Gods truths in a natural way. Encouraging!!

This was a good story but a little different than most. The gift of healing isn't easy to understand but I believe there are people that have it. It isn't very common in our every day life . I enjoyed reading this book and was update like to read more in this series.

The "Healing Ruby" series touched my heart so deeply. If anyone is interested in wonderfully placed Scripture, this is a gift for all to read. Scriptures for super-natural healings.
Jennifer Westall, is a gifted author that I have recently read. I will read everything she writes from now on. Thank you, Jennifer, for the blessings that are in your written word.

I loved this book about very deep relationships along with the trials and tribulations that come with living a hard life. Plus how the word of God, prayer and healing through prayer gets this young girl through it all.

Excellent author. She has many elements in her writing to keep one glued. There is adventure, mystery, drama and a few twists and turns. But through it all, there are spiritual truths that need to be examined in your own heart. I have downloaded the next two books in the series.

This was a wonderful story full of rich character and setting. The people in this story who are struggling financially and spiritually in a challenging time in our history teach us much about life. The author spoke to my memories and reminded me of people who have populated my past. Will read the next book in the series.

This book is so good that my husband even stayed up, past his bedtime, to finish it! Then, the following morning, I think he ordered the sequel before eating breakfast .

I read the book immediately after my husband, and share his high regard for it . I do hope, however, that the "villains," are exposed in the sequel. ---Unlike everyone else, I hated "Gone Girl"

Sweet and admirable read about having faith, whether or not you believe in a higher being. Those that have been or are experiencing hard and challenging times is a good book to get through those hard times.

I loved this book and will follow any sequels. What a heartwarming, tragic and charming story about a young girl suffering the pangs of a severe loss, first love, caring for others and trying to understand a gift she didn't know she had. The writing is strong and and the story builds quickly, Wonderful book.

I absolutely love these stories. I couldn't put them down. My family is from the south, having grown up with stories of faith healers, I found these books fascinating. The stories, dialogue and nuisances of the south in those back woods areas were spot on. Well done Ms. Westall! The faith healers in my family would have been proud!!

Healing Ruby was a great story of life, love, and hope in a time in America where there was little hope. Ruby's journey takes many twists and turns as she reaches out to help the outcasts when doing so meant taking great risks. Her faith is inspiring as she seeks out God's will for her life.

Loved this book. It was mind boggling because it was so different from books I have read. I hated to put it down and didn't do anything else until I finished it. Was glad to find that the story goes on in another book.
