As an entrepreneur and an educator I have read many books in addition of my own practical experience with VCs, and I find "Mastering the VC game" one of the best sources of information for entrepreneurs. Bussgang is not sharing theories about VCs, but his own real life experiences in dealing with VCs. This book is easy to read with valuable information from pitching to VCs, to agreeing on a term sheet, and deciding on an exit strategy. Every entrepreneur should read this book before presenting anything to a VC.

I've done this process before (and failed to garner any interest) so when I decided it was time to try again my partner told me that I ought to do a bit of research. So on a lark I picked up this book and I devoured it in a few hours. It was an excellent and easy read and I'd recommend it to anyone going through the startup process.
The title was a bit gimmicky but don't let that hold you back

I really enjoyed the book overall, and in particular the interviews Bussgang includes with entrepreneurs like Jack Dorsey, Reid Hoffman and Eric Paley. It's great not only to hear the tales of success, but the often rocky and uncertain road it took to get there. Enjoyable and education read for those interested in understanding tech entrepreneurship and the venture capital world.

Jeff tells some great stories and helps us peer into the tightly knit VC community. His ability to give perspectives on both the entrepreneurial and investor point of view makes for a balanced and unbiased read. Any young or fresh entrepreneur with a slight interest in taking the VC path should definitely get into this book and soak up the knowledge (and inspiration).

Jeffrey Bussgang gives you the facts and step-by-step details of the VC game, straight-up in this book. In this challenging economy--where innovation and creativity are leading the way for most companies--it is critical for entrepreneurs to understand how to communicate with VC's. This is just the resource to offer up insight for that process.

Not only is this book captivating and easy to read but it really does introduce the reader to the world of the VC. It's inspiring, insightful, and blunt all at once. Jeff really makes it clear how different venture firms work and how they perceive different aspects of the whole process. Any entrepreneur would do well to read this book.

If you participate at all in the start-up ecosystem, you will certainly find significant value in this book. If you aspire to participate with venture-backed companies, this should be considered required reading. And in either case, the narrative is richly entertaining.

Only was able to read the first chapter, but liked what I read. The opening brings you in and the description of the remainder of the book excites the reader for what's to come. I am looking forward to reading the rest of this book!

So whether you are an entrepreneur actively looking for funds or someone just thinking about it, this book is for you. it's well well-written and interesting, and also covers how to run operations and "exit" a business when it reaches a certain level, not just acquiring venture capital.
