Skin in the Game: Hidden Asymmetries in Daily Life
Skin in the Game: Hidden Asymmetries in Daily Life

Review:Taleb has delivered another intriguing book that centers on dealing with uncertainty in life. With his now-familiar straight forward and engaging writing style, he exposes the reader to numerous and varied people and ideas that have shaped history. His main thesis is the importance of not leaving decisions up to bureaucrats, who have no "skin in the game". He cites several examples, especially related to the field of finance, where certain individuals are exposed to the upsides of decisions but ... Read more

A Beginners Guide to Trading Tools and Tactics - Money Management

Review:Excellent book. Andrew keeps it concise and packed with discussion and examples of core concepts necessary to learning the trade. I first listened to it on Audible and immediately knew I'd want the Kindle version for highlighting and note taking. My second read through on Kindle reinforced those key concepts, and because it wasn't 8,000 pages of theory or self-promotion (like many other similar books) I really got a lot out of it. I felt it was certainly worth the time and investment, and I ... Read more

Side Hustle: From Idea to Income in 27 Days
Side Hustle: From Idea to Income in 27 Days

Review:Disappointing, out of touch with reality, and uninspired! How on earth is selling someone else's stuff considered a "next level idea" while selling your own products is deemed a "starter idea" by the author. This book understates the effort and time required to carry out a successful side hustle and over-estimates the likelihood of success. The suggested ideas are weak and lack creativity, making me cringe at times.

These five-star reviews must be the doing of side hustlers.

The $1... Read more

A Comprehensive Guide to Trading Methods and Applications (New York Institute of Finance)

Review:The good: Dow Theory, Major Reversal Patterns, Continuation
Patterns, Basic Concepts of a trend are problably the good
part of this book.

The bad: The section(s) on indicators and oscillators was
too brief for any reader to learn enough to trade.
I nearly wanted
to put this book aside when I started reading the part on
indicators and oscillators.

Quite a thick book with large wordings which I desire.
Have not finished yet. Being a thick book, there's bound to b... Read more

Fourth Edition - The Essays of Warren Buffett - Lessons for Corporate America

Review:I wrote the original review of this book many years ago and with the release of the new edition I wanted to add a few comments. Over the years the book since the book was published I always keep a copy of it close by as it has served as THE quick reference source for me whenever I want to review a topic that Warren has covered in his letter to shareholders. For instance dividends at Berkshire has been a big topic of conversation over the last couple of years and when I wanted to review what he... Read more

A Simple Strategy to Grow a Remarkable Business in Any Field

Review:This book was suggested during a webinar. After reading the first chapter online, I couldn't wait to get it in my hands. It has not disappointed. The information is perhaps what I already knew but with direct methods and candid humor. I love that it wasn't a dry business manual but rather a "walk with me while we explore how you can be the best business owner EVER." I will suggest this to my clients as well as anyone who has ever dreamed of being a business owner. I've ordered the previous book,... Read more

Essentials of Corporate Finance (Mcgraw-hill/Irwin Series in Finance

Review:The book is very helpful for class. I never have any questions regarding homework or anything that the book itself cannot answer. I think the value of this book is way over stated however, because the content in this book is not that in depth. Overall a very nice book to have though, just wish I didn't have to pay as much as I did. Read more
