My daughter LOVES the Spirit Animals series!!! She can't wait to get her hands on each installment and she ploughs through them at great speed. She's 9 but has been reading them since 8; I think. Highly recommend!

I thought this book stuck with the formula of the previous books (those poor kids.) The author had some tricks reserved for the end, which was rather unexpected and moved in a direction that I did not anticipate, but I still didn't see much change in this book. Nothing showstopping, leastways.
Older kids will likely enjoy this book as much as the others, and I think if you have a child with an adventurous mind they will get a kick out of this. As for the adults, you will likely find your rational mind yelling at you if you read from cover to cover. Who could have this much bad luck?
Overall, it was a fun way to pass the time and it would be a good gift for an imaginative child.
This review is based on a complimentary copy from the publisher and provided through Netgalley. All opinions are my own.

Book 5 continues the amazing Spirit Animals series. Rollan, Meilan, Connor and Areke have just found and lost the Polar Bear talisman. Right before they lost the talisman, Rollan learned that there is a traitor amongst them that is leading the devourer straight towards them. Who could the traitor be? One of the 4 children? Their protector Tarick? Lenori the trusted greencloak. The children continue on their journey to collect the next talisman from Mullop the octopus while headed straight for a trap.
The ending reveals who the traitor was and I was very surprised at who is was. It also ends on a cliffhanger so you may want to wait for book 6 to come out before reading this one.
Like the rest of the Spirit Animals series, this book is fun and action packed.

This is an interesting book where Abeke, Conor, Rollan, and Meilin are on an island and have to meet Mulop, the Great Beast who is an octopus. He gives them his talisman, the coral octopus. He asked Connor to take a test and go through somewhere, But on the shore, disaster has struck, the rest of the people have realized that Meilin is the mole and that is because she was given the Bile, and now she is controlled by Gerathon. But wait, how did they end up in this mess?! Well, read the book to find out!!

It's totally my faulty for starting this series at book 5. I admit it. It's the reason I don't fully understand how spirit animals work. Outside of that, the characters feel like they are already well developed, although they don't change much during the course of this story. It's got tons of action for the easily distracted reader.

Tui T. Sutherland writes another amazing story in the series that fits in seamlessly with the rest of the series and keeps the reader on the edge of their seat as they travel further through Erdas with the Four Fallen and Abeke, Meilin, Rollan, and Conor on their search for talismans to defeat the Conquerors. This book was amazing, with a huge reveal at the end that few will be able to predict.

seriously?? MIELEN ??????? she drank the bile and did not find out about it until Gerathon showed up. shouldn't there be some rule about bad cliff hangers ?? Loved that Mulop was NUTS (In a way) . does Jih really have to be treated badly ???

This book is well written but its pretty short. I like the way how cleverly these books are written. I can never guess what going to happen! The best part (aside from being so clever) was how easy it was to follow.

Meilin was the mole. At least the Conquerors didn't get another talisman. The book was awesome!!!!!!!!!!! I just loved it. I feel s bad for Rollan, the people who he cares about most is the Devourer's puppet. :<

I was very dissappointed by this book. I think the problem is that Tui T. Sutherland is not as adept a writer as some of the other spirit animals writers such as Brandon Mull or Garth Nix. In some places she will go on for pages writing purely about the animals playing. I was relieved to find that book six was much better than book five. If you read spirit animals and you are on book 5 I reccomend finding a summary of it and skipping to book 6.

I think this was the best!=^·^= I was really surprised when I found out Melin of all people was the traitor... although I don't think it counts because she never knew that Gerathon could control her because she was given bile .
