Thank you for this captivating story. I loved the purity of heart in all of the family member. The truth in our country being the melting pot and all are welcome. Family is not always in blood but is always in our hearts. Again, thank you for true love.

I enjoyed reading this book. It certainly gives a picture of the struggles and triumphs of those who take the circumstances they are dealt and make a life for themselves while helping others along the way.

A story about courageous women helping each other through misfortune in an era when it was a daring feat for them to be independent. Well developed characters, romance, and a historical California setting make this novel a most enjoyable read.

Characters were very one dimensional. Considering this was set in the 1800s it felt like it could have taken place in 2000. I have no desire to read any of the other books in the series. This was a very unsatisfying read .

I really enjoyed hearing about the women in this story and the gold rush environment in San Francisco. So brave to sail from the East to West coast and start a new life. Going around the cape had to be very scary and a long trip!

Many timely details, portrayals of life situations along with mores and attitudes common to the time aid the believability and warmth of the story and characters. This author takes the time to tell a very interesting story without resorting to undue erotica or violence.
