These books (two of them) covers every subject you always wanted to know more about. Great for Doctor's office or red lights. The material is short and full of knowledge.

I great present.

This is like having a conversation with Cliff Claven every morning. The concept is great, and one page a day allows me to learn something every day, no matter how crazy a day I have. After the 1st paragraph or so the type gets a little small, but I assume that allows the subject matter to keep to 1 page max. I have learned many interesting things from this book, which I have used in various conversations. As well, it gives you enough to decide if you want to pursue a specific subject any further.

This book is a great resource, especially to young people. My daughter's 8th grade English teacher reads passages from this book everyday to give them a basic knowledge of our culture. As a result, she has an area of knowledge seldom possessed by this age group.

After reading the first one, I immediately purchased this one - being that I'm an American History aficionado. With short entries, interesting facts, and the ribbon bookmark, this is perfect for short moments – like waiting in long grocery story lines or doctor’s offices. I kept mine in my purse for just these sorts of occasions. The only drawback is that it was published in 2007, so by 2015, it’s now 7 years behind. However, it is what it is, and I don’t think publishing an updated on would do any good. I love this series and intend to eventually read them all.

Great book for American History buffs. Wait till you read this book. I thought I was pretty sharp until I read this book. Quick little information on 1 page only. Great for High school students taking Am History.

There are 365 single paragraph stories that deal with the development of the United States. Each story covers significant stories and the characters that were responsible over the past 250 years in the development of the United States of America. The subject material is varied but very interesting. A story a day will develop into you reading the entire book in one or two settings. The topics are most interesting and will develop your historical knowledge very well. Read and enjoy.

"The Intellectual Devotional: American History..." is the perfect gift for anyone in your life, particularly those "difficult to buy for" men in your life. It is a year-long daily devotional that gives you a peek into areas of our American history that might otherwise get skimmed over. It is a book with substance; the epitome of the "gift that keeps on giving".

Gave this book as a Christmas present. I was amazed at all of the family members that picked this book up to read after it was opened. Everyone wanted to take a look. I'm so glad I picked this as a gift! I purchased the other "Intellectual Devotionals" to give as gifts as well.

Started to read the book borrowed from a family member and wanted my own copy on Kindle form. I love the way I can read short passages that are usually things I didn't know about many different topics.

I like devotionals - A LOT!!! And I had high hopes for this one.

But the Kindle edition of this book lacks an active table of contents, an index - and none of the various items I've read are even numbered (as in other devotionals of my experience). And even if the entries WERE numbered, there's no way to move from one to the next, or back several to revisit a memorable entry, without moving through the pages one by one.

So what we have here is a big, lumpy ball o' facts - unorganized, unlinked in any way, and no more navigable than the vegetation-clogged upper reaches of the the store, Nile or Congo rivers.

At the very least, I think the publishers of this volume should add an active TOC, an index, and number the entries - and then re-send it FREE to the Kindle owners like me who already have it.
