This is SUCH a helpful and relevant book chock-full of applicable advice on how to fight fear and anxiety through faith. I loved Alli's first book Breaking Busy and knew that this one would be no different (props for alliterative titles too, girl!) -- it was fresh, helpful, fun to read, both light and deep at the same time, and really just a powerhouse book for women.

Each chapter addressed a new question that I think every one of us worries about at some point, and included such easy to remember lists of tools and reminders for how to fight back and find freedom. If you aren’t a person who loves lists, this might not be the book for you, but I know so many of Alli's strategies here will be game changers for me personally! Thanks to BookLook Bloggers for sending me this one.

Although we all know how to put on our “Sunday” faces for those who don’t know us intimately, we all have struggles of one kind or another. In her book Fierce Faith, Alli Worthington gets real with Christian women. She gives us a “battle plan against the fear, worry, and anxiety” that want to pull you down. She uses anecdotes to illustrate the kinds of battles that we face and identifies that the attack usually comes from the spiritual realm. She offers Scriptural promises and practical applications and ways of fighting back with a “fierce faith.”

Worthington addresses issues you may not even know you have because you avoid confronting them by strategies such as staying busy, bingeing on a variety of things, or becoming numb. I don’t consider myself a fearful person, but I got zinged a number of times as she addressed fear of betrayal, rejection, and an uncertain future. Some might identify with FOMO (the fear of missing out) which began with Adam and Eve but is put on steroids by social media. Fear of failure and not measuring up are other common forms of attack.

Alli Worthington offers practical help for common problems. She encourages the reader to trust God and explains how to do that. I recommend this book for all Christians regardless of where you are in your faith walk.

I would like to extend my thanks to netgalley.com and to Zondervan for giving me the opportunity to read this book in exchange for an honest review.

This book is a great read for those that struggle with anxiety and fear. That would be all of us, right? This book put some great points into perspective regarding fear of failure in our work, motherhood and life in general. This book is full of scriptures to back up the message and personal stories from Allí and how she overcome those situations of fear and anxiety. My favorite quotes from throughout the book are:
"Making ourselves busy is one of the most common and most dangerous coping mechanisms we use to avoid the things in our lives that stress us out"

"The root of your busyness might be the seed of fear you've down in your heart" (ouch!)

"Blaming others when we feel anxious or worried is a common coping mechanism"

"If we have habits that are directly related to stressful situations in our lives, and they are not renewing or restoring us, then we need to recognize those choices as warning signs of unaddressed fear"

"Procrastinators are excellent buriers"

"FOMO, fear of missing out"

"God-given healthy fear protects us from harm"

I would recommend this book to anyone as fear is a real thing that we all deal with, some on a daily basis. But when we have the right tools to deal with it, properly and with God in us and with us, it is easier to overcome.
Disclaimer: I was given an advance copy readier no in lieu of an honest review. All opinions are my own.

Fierce Faith- I want it! And this book has helped me to get it over so many fears already. Alli writes with such honesty and vulnerability; you know she has been in this battle and gets it. No doubt, I will use this book as a "go to manual" over and over to conquer my fears. I work in ministry and literally want to keep it with my Bible as I minister and counsel with others. Alli's practical steps to battle our fears are so helpful and she takes us through those What if's that can be so painful. Wrapping the truth of God's Word and her personal stories together throughout the pages makes this a wonderful read. You'll love it!

I hardly ever write book reviews, but this is the first one I have read in a long time that I would call “life-changing.” I like the Christian non-fiction genre a lot, but lately it has started to feel like the books I am reading are shallow, repetitive, or just not applicable to my life. I read “Breaking Busy” after hearing Alli share her story on Jamie Ivey’s podcast, and her message really resonated with me. I am so glad I decided to buy “Fierce Faith” because it takes Alli’s practical wisdom and encouragement to the next level. It talks about fear in a way that needs to be talked about! Every chapter made me cry. I felt like I was being punched in the stomach sometimes because it made me deal with emotions and memories I had stuffed away for a long time. It was so helpful to know I am not alone. I am a child of God, and He is with me. I hope Alli will keep writing more books like this!

Fierce Faith showed me how I have been giving into fear without a fight. It helped me prepare a battle plan - be aware of my feelings, not numb my feelings through the “Bad Bs” (as Alli calls them), ask Jesus for help, and attack those fears. It really hit me while reading Fierce Faith that the enemy of our souls wants to take us down and convince us that God is not faithful. As I dove deeper into each chapter, I found myself thinking “wow, this chapter is for me” and the same for the next one! I didn’t realize how many rejections had contributed to my fears - especially the fear of failure, betrayal, fear of the future, and the fear of not being enough.

This quote by Alli describes where I was at when I started reading Fierce Faith. “We often don’t realize our own fear of the future is stopping us in our tracks, keeping us stuck, and wondering why we have a low-grade suspicion that we aren’t really living the life we were created to live. But what if we started looking at these attacks, these dark seasons, as normal passages of pain from the wilderness to the Promised Land of our calling, of our future?” (page 144) I have had many dark seasons, but after reading Fierce Faith and being in a community of really great women, and friendships, I have been seeing these painful times as growth pains. I truly believe that God has not abandoned us and I am focusing on where God is taking me, how he is growing me, and who he is refining me to be.

Fierce Faith has definitely contributed to healthier thoughts and life overall. Each chapter has an overarching spiritual theme as well as practical action steps to combat fear which is a wonderful combination. Fierce Faith was a joy to read and it has helped me to challenge the unhealthy thoughts that I have allowed to come easily into my beliefs. It is definitely a resource I will come back to on my bookshelf.

This book gives words to the fears so many individuals face, along with the discomfort, hesitance, and pain they haven't been able to identify as fear. With relatable stories, biblical examples, and concrete steps to help readers cope with different types of fear, this book is a vital tool to empower and embolden a fierce new breed of woman.

This book has a chapter for every woman and every fear, from fear of failure to fear of the future. For me, Chapter 7 on the fear of betrayal changed my entire outlook on circumstances in my life over the past year. Alli writes "When our hearts become bitter and offended, we live life wounded and see every interaction through the lens of that pain." I've never read something that so clearly showed me that I was seeing parts of my life through a victim mentality so I could shift my thinking. Thank you Alli!

Alli has done a marvelous job of walking us through all the ways our mind and emotions can be controlled by fear. Not just fear that the other shoe will drop on us, but fear as we parent, fear of missing out and fear of not measuring up among others. I realized reading through this book how pervasive and invasive fear can be. Alli has walked the walk and shares transparently how to be a woman where faith -- not fear -- reigns. Highly recommended!

My favorite thing about Alli Worthington is how practical she is. This book about fighting fear and having fierce faith is shared from a place of experience. She has walked through hard days and battled many of the same things we battle everyday. Her encouragement is laid out in a way that's easy to process and remember. I would recommend this book for everyone who has ever felt the enemy attacking them. I know it's one I will go back to over and over through many season of life.

Fear has always been my downfall. No matter the situation or the circumstances surrounding it fear has always been my worst enemy. When I was given the opportunity to be on the launch team for Ali Worthington’s new book, Fierce Faith, I answered. This purchase was honestly the best purchase I have made. Ali lays it all on the line, and her words couldn’t have rang any clearer and let me tell you my toes hurt after reading this book. If you struggle with fear, faith, worry and anxiety then this book is for you. Believe me you will not be disappointed.

I purchased a copy of this book during a promotion from the publisher.

I was a little apprehensive about reading another book about fighting fear, but I'm glad that I did read it! I was met with some hard truths about myself that I'd stuffed for so long.
Alli not only helps to address them, she introduces tools to fight with fierce faith!

After reading and loving Alli Worthington’s first book, Breaking Busy, I expected good things from Fierce Faith and it did not disappoint. The relaxed, friendly tone invites the reader to let their guard down as the tough topics of fear and anxiety are dissected. It feels like you’re having an intimate chat with a friend over coffee.

Worthington shares plenty of humorous personal stories. These not only illustrate her point, they help the reader realize that it’s normal to worry about all the little (and big) things we do as wives and mothers. But, that we shouldn’t stay in that fretting zone because God wants so much better for us.

Fierce Faith is full of helpful tips, thoughtful questions, and prayer points to help the reader formulate and apply a battle plan for fighting fear with faith. The battle plan is practical so that it can be used in everyday life for real results.

I love this book because it answers many questions we have, but have been afraid to admit or even ask. Christian women have been shrinking back in their calling from unrecognized anxiety for years. Perhaps we have been silently asking ourselves how to move forward in life and at the same time yearning to receive wholistic healing that is grounded in Biblical Truth. I especially love the go to tools in Chapter 4, What If They Don’t Like Me? Fear of Rejection. This chapter is powerful and life-giving. I’m sharing with my 13 and 15 year old daughters as I dive into the content. Teenagers will benefit from this book as well. The entire book is packed with resources to develop your own personal Battle Plan to be free from fear, worry, and anxiety. There are also many opportunities online to do virtual book clubs, so you can engage with a community of people cheering you on as you learn to live in a place of freedom.

Started this book hoping to find helpful advice for facing fears. I am thrilled, excited and nervous as I go forward into chapter four. Right from chapter one I was drawn in and connecting to the author. She writes in a way that is sincere, challenging, and also humorous. I love that each chapter has questions at the end to think through. This book is making me analyze what fears I have and helping me recognize them. I also appreciate the resources provided at the back of the book. I've printed some off to post on my refrigerator to help keep me on track of recognizing my fears and facing them fiercely with my faith in Jesus.

Alli Worthington has done it once again. In Breaking Busy she tackled the crazy cycle most of us CHOOSE to live in, being busy, and she broke it down into manageable topics that were funny, encouraging, relatable, all the while teaching us to step off the crazy train of busy.

In Fierce Faith, she has taken the fears common to most women and shown us that it's okay to be afraid, that it's even better to realize what our fears are and acknowledge them, but then let us know in no uncertain circumstances that we are not called to wallow in and live in those fears. She gives the reader great action steps that are totally doable to help us overcome these fears.

Love Alli Worthington! Can't wait to read her next book!

Tho book! I started they year with this book! A fear I had been struggling, facing and healing over, one day popped up again! I just happened to be reading the chapter on “What if? As I read and tears flowing down my face I asked the Lord Why? Why am I still dealing with this. I thought we had killed the giant. He showed me the giant was just stunned and I needed to cut of his head. After praying the Father God showed me the real root in my fear and together we cut off that fears head! Thank you Alli for writing such a healing powerful transparent book!

Fierce Faith has been helpful for me specifically to be strong and confident in leading a faith based life instead of a fear filled, faith based life. Yes, it's possible to have faith and realize that you still live in fear, in the back of your mind. I tend to be meek and safe in my hobbies and the things I am passionate about, which doesn't lead me to live life to my fullest. Alli Worthington provides stories and insight that are so relatable it's almost unbelievable. She details each kind of fear that affects us at some point in our life, or all the time, whether we know it or not, providing biblical truths & faith based approaches to combat these fears and carry on strong & confident. So we can pursue our passions, hobbies & God given gifts without the long term anxiety about the mistakes & mini failures along the way.

"Healthy fear can keep us out of painful situations, like shark attacks or Brazilian bikini waxes. But we aren't talking about God-given, healthy fear here. We're talking about fear of the future, the what-if situations that keep us up at night worrying, the anxiety that keeps us from living with confidence. We are talking about the God-distracting fear that steals our joy and keeps us off the path we are meant to follow."

This book is an easy read with deep truths. Every woman can relate to this book. Alli is down to earth, conversational, and uses a perfect blend of life experiences and scripture to make each chapter life changing. Highly recommend this book.

Fierce Faith is not just any book about fear, anxiety, and worry. This book by Alli Worthington takes you through some of the situations where she has dealt with fear, worry, and anxiety. Alli breaks down each chapter and helps readers to put a plan into action. Reading through Fierce Faith made me feel like I was walking right beside an encouraging friend who has been there and gone through the similar situations.

If you are someone who deals with anxiety, worry, or fear, this book is definitely a must read.

Reading this book is like chatting with your best girlfriend over coffee. Alli is for you and in your corner! She is refreshingly vulnerable and transparent in sharing her struggles with fear and anxiety, which gives others permission to do so as well. She has walked through the fire of fear, faced and battled it head on. Her experiences make her the perfect person to provide the tools to help others overcome the lies of fear because she's used them first hand, from identifying the Five Bad B's (aka our feeble attempts of coping with fear) to her Four Good A's (steps we can take to fight fear). Fighting fear is a battle and Alli equips you to win the war.

Fighting anxiety? Wrestling worry? If you are human, if you are awake, or breathing at all, this book will help you reconnect to God's promises, His grip on your life and help you release the fears that try to choke you and prevent you from moving forward with your career, ministry, family... your life in whatever season you are in! I like that there is an actual plan when you are feeling fear, or anxiety, a plan to recognize and make adjustments in your thinking, and in your actions that will make a difference in your journey.
Includes so much practical application, and it is easy to read. Alli is so real and relevant in this book.

This book is a must read for all Christian women. We all struggle with trying to be perfect. Fearful that we are not good enough. That the friends we thought we had will reject us. That we can not be all things to all people. Best wife, best mother, best daughter, best sister and the list goes on. This book can teach you how to hand all of your fears and struggles to God. And how his peace and grace can take it all away. Awesome book and awesome author.

'Fear' can be an all encompassing word. In FIERCE FAITH, Alli Worthington brilliantly and realistically dissects the ramifications of how fear can impact one's daily life. How fear can leave one physically, emotionally and mentally stuck. Fear takes many forms. Alli through candid anecdotes, biblical principles and real life illustrations, with practical clarity --affords the reader with powerful strategies to overcome fear. A must read!!! There'll be many 'light bulb' moments. (Though it's a 'woman's guide', I recommend it also for men)

Life changing book is over used and seems over dramatic, but Alli’s books - when put to use - are just that. This book speaks to the heart even more because she was (is) still in the midst of so much. Don’t even second guess purchasing it, this a book you want to (need to!) own to reference and write up on over and over again.

Why Fierce Faith? Its written with freedom in mind. For so long we have allowed unuttered and unsolicited thoughts to keep us bound to a defeated life.

With Alli’s gift of candor, she debunks fear, anxiety and worry with powerful truths and a solid battle plan that takes us from victim to victor.

You will want to tell others about this book. Do a small group and/ or book club. You’ll want others to find the freedom you found. With women united over so many issues, let’s come together over fear, anxiety and worry and overcome.

I love Alli Worthington and how she writes with such authenticity and transparency. I believe we learn the most from each other when we share real life experiences and I love that Alli boldly shares her struggle with fear and facing fear with faith and the truth of God's Word. Too often, we, as women, are afraid to admit our weaknesses and struggles because we may be judged or condemned by others, unfortunately. Alli's bravery to write Fierce Faith and speak out about her fear will help others in the same fight and bring encouragement to anyone needing a little extra push to overcome their own fears. There are the obvious fears that every mother has but then there are some you don’t even want to admit you have. Alli Worthington created this book that gets at the heart of your fears. All of them. She writes in a way that makes you feel like she is across the table from you, holding your hand, praying with you. She provides real and practical steps that you can do right now to tackle those fears. I couldn’t recommend this book more. The chapter on children has changed my whole outlook and brought to light some deep seeded fears I had. I found myself relating to so much of Alli’s Story and I know you will too.

After reading Breaking Busy, Alli’s first book O couldn’t wait to read this. Breaking Busy was so helpful. This book is also very practical, easy to read and Alli shares openly about her own life. It helps you to identify fear (even when you think you don’t have any fears) and then it gives you insight how to handle it.
I woul recommend reading it with someone else and talk about it because then you get all out of it.
