I discovered this series via GoodReads looking at a lists for favorite "reverse harems" ( not slutty ????) of having a group of sexy yummy men just for me and My pleasure ? O heck yeah!!! ( I'd make sure they were happy and well treated ;) I mean what woman wouldn't ? Well it's a fantasy ,that will stay just a fantasy, but a girl can dream.... ???? Any way I loved the h 1st book , I wasn't sure at 1st, even thou like her I can quote more from movies and tv shows that great works of fiction, she did seem a bit cheesy and "Blue" who was kinda a blue devil of sorts really, creeped me out w/his evilness and mind rapes, soo I did skim a good bit , but honestly the worst detractor for me w/this book sadly were the negative reviews I read about the 1st few books where soo maybe jerks enjoyed calling Vervain a slut and comatose not her to some chick from another series , that what HURT my enjoyment the most, I get the need to vent when a book upsets you but you should say "Hey, this is only my opinion" and not act like your spewing gospel... I say even I have vented my self at times... What blue did to her was just Pure evil!! But what got me the most was I kept excepting her to start willing have sex w/blue coz of all the slut talk and Hey, Ver does notice a sexy man like most of would but even w/sexy Thor on hand seemed a bit overly horny at times, soo I skimmed all the parts w/the Evil one worded she was willingly cheat on Thor and was soo nervous it really hurt my enjoyment,I hated what happened to but ended up relieved that it wasn't voluntary ... Sad right ? Those idiots had soo relived she didn't cheat... Damn... I'm curious to see how things go w/Trevor he doesn't see very Alpha for a Werewolf Prince, more like a sweet cuddly teddy bear type... I hope she never lose Thor I Love Them together!!! Soo glad I found this series!!! ;)

Just finished book 16 and thought I should go back and write a review for the first book because ... WOW! You need to read them all. You won't be sorry. I'm just in awe that after 16 books I want more more more!

I honestly could not put this book down. Start with one querky witch add hot gods, some fighting and lots of sex appeal . The descriptions of the places make it so you can picture it in your mind. This was a fast paced action packed story. I even found myself laughing out loud at some of the things that were said. ADD witch anyone, she can't keep her mind off all the hot bods, and open her mouth before engaging brain.

I probably should've read between the lines of the description. This is yet another love triangle romance book where two powerful gods fall in love with the main character even though she's a complete pain in the neck to them. Even worse, one of them happens to be the vampire god - I'm so tired of stories about women and vampires.

In addition, it was pretty rambling and I found the plot disjoint and a bit hard to follow.

Even given those overwhelming downsides to me, I still found it somewhat enjoyable to read. The writing flowed well and the main character had a fair amount of spunk.

I love Urban Fantasy and mythology and was so excited about this one. It started out well enough, but it didn't take long for my excitement to fizzle. The book does have mythological characters, so many that by the time I was half way through, I'm not sure if any Pantheon was missed. The problem with all the gods crammed into this story is that I never figured out exactly why they needed Vervain for their quest or why she was a Godhunter in the first place. Basically, the world-building lacks continuity and the story is convoluted. I get the idea of a reverse harem and am not offended by it, but there needs to be some story to it and this character seems to be sexually attracted to almost every male she meets. What this book boils down to is a story that had potential but ended up being 400+ pages of sexual innuendo and pop culture references. A few times, I did come across a line or two that gave me reason to smile or chuckle, which is the only reason for the 2, rather than 1, star rating.

Oh! This series is FANTASTIC. I loved her hesitation with Thor and her determination! She took her fear and made herself a warrior, when she kills I LOVE the fact she doesn't shy away and absorbed the life shes taken into her memory as penance! Thor is sweet and I love how passionate they are. I also love her common sense, braiding her hair as a crown around her head to not give her enemy a hand hold! I've read tooo many books where the heroine lets her hair hang loose or in a pony tail! They obviously need to take some tips from this chick! She is firm in her beliefs and admit when she's wrong. Oh! This is a series I could gush about until the cows come home!!!

Sassy heroine fighting for peace and goodwill on earth, meets up with the God of thunder and finds herself joining the God Squad for the souls of mankind. Smart, sexy, sassy and sweet this story holds adventure and romance, with a well written and witty take on mythology. Read this now!

I really loved this book. I've had a guilty pleasure obsession with monsters and Vikings for a while now. Amy took my two favorite monsters, werewolves and vampires, and threw in some butt kicking powers AND a whole slew of gods. My favorite Greek God and Avenger Thor happens to be one of the love interests and keeps my heart racing. The way Amy describes his blue eyes and how thunder swirls in them makes my toes tingle, literally. Picture Chris Hemsworth but gingery hair and wearing low slung jeans. Yes. See what I mean? Buy it, you won't regret.

I rarely write reviews. Lazy, I know, but I never have anything new to write. I try to keep up with the star ratings, though.
God Hunter is original, exciting, funny, sexy, violent, and so much more. Amy Sumida is an excellent writer. I love fast-paced books.
I just finished reading "Perchance to Die," the 12th book in the God Hunter series. The only bad thing I have to say about that book is that it was too short. Well, it's 350 pages, so it just seemed too short. Maybe that means that the next book will be released soon?
I've taken the time to review this book so that you will be encouraged to read it. It's free, so what are you waiting for? You won't regret it, or have to wait for the next book!

I enjoyed this book. I found the witty one liners and dry humour very funny. The story line also had several good twists and turns. I am looking forward to the next and will see how that goes as there are quite a number in this series (19 so far!!!) but at least this book was a decent size, not like those silly little novellas you pay good money for that are split into a trillion books in the series, thank goodness!
I did alternate with the whisper sync audio book, and there were lots of errors with the audio book. It was almost like an unedited draft version had been released as the reader kept re-reading constantly and these were played. That was a first for me, so weird!

I couldn't put it down, I was completely drawn into the story from the first sentence all the way to the last. I love the unique story plot and the realism of the characters. Amy's detailed descriptions bring the people and places to life in this incredible series. Love love love these books!

After stumbling across this book on April 5th, I have now inhaled the entire 12 books written so far and am still hungry for more. A great concept, to combine all of our mythologies from vampires to angels and all the pantheons of Gods in between. The characters are well defined with interesting personalities that makes it easy for the reader to empathise with them. I don't usually write reviews, but the wise-cracking dialogue, smartarse film and tv quotes and attitude that surround our heroine make her someone you want to know as a friend. Apart from that, this author really knows how to write about what to do with a God once you have him in your chinese wedding bed. A thoroughly enjoyable series that doesn't slacken the pace, and keeps you coming back for more. I highly recommend this author and can't wait for the next instalment. Also, where do I get one of these beds, and maybe a spare God?

Let me start by saying that if this was a show on television, I would absolutely watch it. It definitely has that Buffy vibe, and the mythos is both fascinating and engaging. I loved seeing which god/goddess/creature would show up next. The explanations for both vampires and werewolves was creative enough to keep me interested, even though those particular monsters have been done to death in this genre.

That being said, my review is more a 3.5 stars (I always round up.) The editing was pretty bad, so if you're a stickler for the correct use of commas, you might find it a little distracting. I don't mind overlooking that for an interesting and engaging story (which this was). It was by the time the fifth beautiful man had confessed his love/lust for the main character that I began to get a little tired. Perhaps if the all the characters hadn't kept insisting that she was so witty/funny/interesting...

Overall, I'd recommend this book vs. not recommend it, especially if you love mythology and seeing all the various world pantheons flung together.

With the serious title and dangerous looking cover I thought this would be an intense book. Nope--it's one of the most fun books I've read in a long time. I totally fell in love with the characters and Ms. Sumida's universe of living mythological gods. There are intense moments, but most of the story is told in a very fun, light tone that hooked me from the first page. Wish it was all real and I could meet some of those gods! I'll definitely be buying more of her books.

I've read a lot of books lately, but I have to say that this one is the best yet. I love the main character, she's witty and some of the quotes from books and movies add to a really enjoyable story. I can't wait to read the next book. I sure hope that the next story is as great as this one was.

WARNING: thus is by now a 16 book series with no freaking end in sight. It's well written but by the time you've written 16 books there should be SOME resolution. It's not even different characters. 16 books over decade in her time and the main character still doesn't have her crap together. I do like the characters, the writing is both hilarious and witty and the storyline is interesting but 16 books and countless hours in and I still can't get an HEA? Waste of time. Give me a good ending so I can move on.

While I can appreciate the premise of this book, it's hard to get past the author's heavy-handed attempts to make the protagonist a "smart, sexy, sassy" female lead. Did a horny teenager write this? No? Well then, perhaps she should stop writing like one.

Basically what the title says. The ideas aren't necessarily original, but the lead character is a suitably likeable, sexy character with a plot that has just enough sex that it's an accent to the plot, not a focus.

I REALLY wanted to like this book. I have a passion for gods/mythology. This was right up my alley. When she brought up certain names, such as the head bad guy, I was like: wooo-hooo!
The problem is I have been slugging my way through it. I keep stopping and telling myself: give it another chance. I finally realized what the flaws are- if any of these seem like things that would bother you then don't buy this book.

1. The Heroine: she is an absolute rip-off of Buffy the Vampire Slayer. I am not saying that some random comments didn't make me smile, it is just excessive and unwarranted. It is CONSTANT to the point that it is annoying. Buffy had her charm and Buffy was awesome when I was 16 but she is no longer. This woman comes across as a two-dimensional, immature, infantile and, honestly, not well written buffy rip-off.
2. Her powers/her start. I just couldn't really comprehend how she ended up doing this and why. She read a book? What? I kept thinking that there was an action hook that would eventually lead to more exposition. None really came. I'm more than halfway and I am still wondering how and why we/she got here.
3. Like everyone else, I keep asking: what is SHE doing here? Why do they need her? What makes her an important asset? Just seems like it a convenient way to add an unestablished, unremarkeable character into a group of incredible powerful characters who are handling a very important mission that I can't see why she would help. I'm looking at you Black Widow in the Avengers. Space aliens and such and you have a handgun (maybe if we knew more about her power and such she wouldn't seem so out of place).
4. Sloppy world building. There is something "established" as a necesity or rule, which pretty much is the reason our heroine does what she does. That is just cast aside as it becomes convenient.

Ugh. Waste of money and waste of potential. I've reas better fanfiction. I've yet to see these kind of books (not just this writer/series) get anything but 5 stars. Starting to believe these are friends and family reviewing.

Another character living out the author's sexual fantasies book. It is a shame because there is a lot of creativity in world building and it really does show a lot of promise with a strong female protagonist. Unfortunately it degenerates into seduction and sex every time a male character is involved. Needs more story...

In general I love a good RH novel and one with a strong POC heroine, but the way this character refers to other races is frankly racist. The language used to describe POC is often one-dimensional, and token at best. Ex: one of the characters is a Native American god, when Sumida refers to him it's often 'the Indian.' Yikes! And she constantly tries to distinguish South Asian (Indian) people from Native Americans through references of the bindhi versus feathers in our hair. Those references are so basic, I feel like calling her up and giving her a crash course on POC in modern society.

However, none of the white characters receive this kind of labeling or token descriptions. Since there are gods/goddesses represented from around the world, the difference in descriptions and development is striking. Often white characters are referred to by their name, with interesting and engaging descriptions. Honestly it boggles the mind how this wasn't dealt with in the editing process.

The premise of this book sounded really interesting but the main character is not very bright and she's just being bounced between foreplay with two different Gods.
I made it to 39% waiting for something interesting to happen but, there seems to be no forward movement to the plot, so I gave up!

I couldn't make it past 5% of the book. I imagine it is because it jumped a lot in the beginning so you couldn't get a read on the characters. It started off with a face-off between the godhunter and thor over something I didn't fully understand. I gave up on it right away. Perhaps I will come back to it another time when I can read more of the book...maybe it gets better as it goes but it didn't seem that way.

Vervain is a Godhunter. She stumbled upon this occupation by accident, and the thing is these beings aren't even real gods. They just have the power, and ego. Now, she's not going to let them feed off of humans, or make war break out just to raise their power.

However, when Thor runs into her one day, she knows her world will never be the same. Now, she's going to help a few gods fight against other gods, and not only is that bad it's worse because Thor seems to have a thing for her.

Vervain better figure out her next moves before it is all too late.

This book was very interesting, and very funny as well. She's got a funny way of fighting, and working with the Gods, but she's doing her best.

The only thing that confused me was this is suppose to be considered a reverse-harem series, but that hasn't happened yet or even really been alluded to in this one. However, that can always change as the series goes on, so I will keep reading, but so far this one was not exactly what I was hoping.

What a pleasant surprise this book was. It has a great concept, wonderful characters, humorous dialogue, adventure, danger, passion. Vervain is a fantastic lead female. She's a breath of fresh air; equally clueless and competent, feminine and badass. Her sense of humor is a delight.

The book is set in multiple worlds, human and the God realm. All Gods from every culture are real. They were once Atlanteans who gained power from human worship and blood sacrifices. Humans changed them according to their beliefs and cultures. But many of the Gods became power-hungry, no longer satisfied with their humans and are now actively causing human pain and suffering. Vervain has discovered this and has made it her mission to hunt down and kill the Gods. While doing this, she stumbles across a group of Gods fighting against their own for humans. This shakes up her beliefs, introduces her to new friends and new love.

Amy Sumida has created an endlessly entertaining world here. The mixture of Gods, cultures, the danger and the silliness of their adventures. It's a roller coaster ride of emotions, love and heartbreak, sweetness and nasty behavior. It's a perfect combination. I could hardly wait to grab book 2 to continue Vervain's adventure.

SPOILERS!
I could not get into this series. Right from the get go, it didn’t make sense to me. It was illogical.

This witch, after killing one God/Atlantean due to crazy circumstances, reads one book in his possession and decides to go on a killing spree on all Gods? And then Thor…I just couldn’t. I found both characters to be so annoying and unrealistic, but together? I seriously struggled to get through the book.

What I did like about the book is that the bad guy Blue, he is a genuine bad guy. No sugarcoating this guy, no humanizing him. I also liked the premise of Gods being Atlantean's and all that jazz. However, as much as I found it to be an interesting concept I just couldn’t get into this book.

There are certain genres that lend themselves to humor, witches and mythology being among the most obvious. Amy Sumida has done a fantastic job creating a world where the old gods and magic are still able to interact with modern men and women. Bring into this mix a sharp tongued heroine smartass with great fighting skill (think Buffy) and you have a book worthy to stand among the works of Simon R. Green and Jim Butcher. I was amazed that being a free download this book was so good, sad to say some of the other books I have bought on the store weren't that good. Sometimes, however, you come across a great book by an independent author. No I am not related to the author nor do I know her.
Ms Sumida has a good handle on her subject matter and has really researched her materiel well. I found that refreshing. Even when using vampires and werewolves she pulls them out of the worn out done to death mediocre literature by giving them interesting origins. This in my opinion is not a fast read, but a book to be savored. There is detailed character development which I like, this just adds to the enjoyment of the book and a key element in reading the rest of the books in the series. This development enhances the humor of the book, without it the humor would fall flat. There is good and sometimes laugh out loud interactions between Thor and Vervain (the main character). I am not a big fan of romance as it tends to get in the way of the action in the book. In this book the romance and the reluctance Vervain has about getting involved with Thor adds to the overall tension and conflict and fleshes out the heroine. Even Ms. Sumida's use of expletives are strategic in helping the reader get a real feel for the characters. Ms. Sumida doesn't just arbitrary toss out these swearwords, although some peope may get offended by their usage. The sex scenes are relatively mild and tastefully done, but again some people may get offended. Hey, some people could get offended by the whole god thing and witches too. A series really needs to be special to get me to commit to it and I believe I will be reading all of the Godhunter books. If you are looking for a different type of fantasy book then give this book a shot.

I wasn't able to get far into this book before having to put it down. The story starts with the protagonist encountering a god for reasons that seem awfully random and poorly explained, and then the reader is subjected to endless comments about how hot our "heroine" considers the god. Everything about this book screamed "author's fantasy wrapped in a paper-thin urban fantasy plot." There was nothing about it that was able to hold my interest.

The author takes gods from differing mythologies and mixes them up, along with a human Godhunter, in this interesting, and occasionally humorous, read.

The female lead is unremarkable, but has potential and I would like to see her grow (and mature) as the series goes on.

The supporting cast (The God Squad) are well written, hot and easy to fall-in-lust with.

The book is full of action, alternating between fights and steamy scenes.

I'm in two minds as to whether to continue with the series...
I'd like to see if Vervain (and the books) reach their potential, but there are a lot of books in the series!

I am amazed as to how much the author puts into writing this series. I am on Book 11 and still looking forward to finish the stories.

While the main character does irritate me at times and can come off hypocritical... I still like her. She's sassy, loyal, and fierce. I just wish the author would stop defending Vervain's right to her harem of men while at the same time insist on being angry if the same were done to her. But hey, you are warned that this is a reverse harem so expect the main character to have multiple love partners.

A huge warning to the sensitive... these books will make you feel uncomfortable so proceed with an open mind. But if you do decide to continue, be prepared for a huge dose of action and steamy romance.

So I'm a bit blah on this, it has potential but still didn't really wow. It could be because this was one of this authors first books so the writing is not very polished yet. While I can like the heroine I also can't get behind her selflessness and her warm and cold feeling towards Thor, mostly because I don't understand them I think, they aren't spelled out clearly enough. I also think this book and probably the next are too long, definitely could have had at least a 100 pages of filler edited out. The only thing This series is on Kindle Unlimited so I may read the second book and see if it improves.

I have read this book and several in this series and find myself waiting for the next book!!! It's different and totally full of kick ass fun. I found myself laughing and crying and totally surprised. If your looking for something fun and a little different from the normal this series is what you are looking for. If your looking for something that shows a female that knows her mind and isn't afraid of showing and telling everyone to shut up you found it. If your looking for a love story you found one that spans life and death. Seriously its just fun .

Okay. First time writing a review. Might be long. You've been warned.
Okay. Thor: two words. Overbearing caveman. You're how old...ancient right...whyyy are you acting like a hormone riddled adolescent????? He constantly acted as if she was a little child. Let her get into trouble if she wants...and if she dies oh well l. She's a damn grown ass woman. And don't stalk people..wth is wrong with you.
Pan: love him...although he's a porno director. He's a side character but not annoying.
Horus: gotta love the prickly ones. You can't have a book without prickly characters.
Persephone: one word. Dumb. But not annoyingly so. Grow up. Love ya.
Others: love them too
Blue: tortured villain. Swoon worthy...kinda. He's a little crazy...probably PTSD he did mass murder his siblings. I tried to hate him but I couldn't..he just needs a little lovin'.
Aphrodite: crazy *bleeeep* . Can I get a hell yeah. She's a freakin' sociopath.
Vervain: ughhh. First of all don't sleep with someone within a week and call it love. Second of all stop being in denial about everything you know Blue is right sthu. Third of all you know you have feelings for Blue get over it and move on. Fourth of all you didn't get "mind raped" stop with that bs. You have a mutual attraction with him you wanted it to happen. My opinion. You were perfectly happy until his eyes glowed and thor entered your mind...whatever. Honestly if you really felt like that you would be traumatized. STOP THROWING YOURSELF AT EVERY DAMN ATTRACTIVE MALE. Hopefully she ends up with either Blue (after he's healed) or Trevor. I actually liked her in some parts...but in others not so much.

I will be writing reviews for each book. I will get through it. I promise.

I know I'm not this books target demographic (I'm a man), but I couldn't wrap my head around all the rape in this book. And, why does the main character seem to like it so much?? This seems sick and wrong, and I have a high tolerance for that sorta stuff. Like, she gets mind-raped (even worse than normal rape) by a bad guy, yet can't help wanting more or checking him out every time she sees him. Is this the kind of story woman want to read??

Seriously, somebody explain this to me.

On the plus side, the story is well written, the dialogue not bad, and the plot moves forward until it becomes clear that this is going to be a never ending series that just gets worse and worse until you don't care about it anymore.

Love this series! As I write this, I have just finished book 20 of this series and still want more. Usually I get tired of a series if they go on a little too long, however I've read all of these back to back and loved them. This has everything I look for - strong heroine, great character development, lots of action, long detailed stories with strong emotional ties, and natural dialogue to name a few. I don't know how Amy Sumida does it, but please keep it up Amy. I haven't been this excited about an author in quite a while. Glad I found you. Do yourselves a favor and read these books!

It's soooo hard to find modern day kick a$$ female Characters who are not damsels in distress! So me finding this series was like striking gold! It takes a lot to impress me about a strong female lead. Seriously My Characters have to be so badzz that they border a little insane from not knowing when to shut up (smack talk) when they're in danger, to running into crazy dangerous situation where there's no hope of coming out alive. Yet still they somehow always do. But I can honestly say Vervain Lived up to my expectations. I'm a HUGE fan of Nalini Singh's Elena Deveraux, Laurel K Hamilton's Anita Blake and Merry Gentry, J.D Rob's Eve Dallas, Ilona Andrews's Kate Daniels, and Robyn Peterman's Crazy over the top Female Character's in pretty much all her books. Lol Seriously that woman is certifiable and I so Love all her books. But I digress. This series is awesome!

Well it was a sneaky way to get me to write a review before I was done reading the series, but I found I didn't want to put the books down. But when in the end of book 12 she said she would send a free book I could only get by writing a review I am doing it now before I get to book 13? . Well if you can't tell already I am loving the books. If you like interesting takes on old thought of how things are and enjoy comic relief in your books then this one is for you.

Currently on the 5th book in the series, I honestly was not expecting to make it past the first few pages of GodHunter. The over use of references from other sources felt like it was going to become tedious at first along with the author’s need to elaborate each and every detail of the character's surroundings. However, after reading further in, I was surprised by how enraptured I was by it all. Vervain is a strong willed, self-sustaining, and easily amused witch/Godhunter whose life literally takes a 180 when asked to fight alonside the same beings she's dedicated her life to destroying. The situations she faces as well as the interactions between her new found friends, love interests, and enemies will have you laughing, frustrated, and most definitely envious. This serious gave me an Anita Blake vibe, a PG-13 rated version anyways, which to me was a good thing. However, a down side to the series, I've found so far, is that Vervain seems to be an act first ( or sprout first) ask questions later type of woman where situations could've been avoided if she would have thought about it beforehand.

I give this book four stars. And the only reason it didn't get five is because it was very difficult for me to get into it. It seemed like it took off at a run but it actually was very, very slow for me. I continuedon because I was told it gets so much better and so I said okay and pushed myself to read more. And then it really was off with a bang! It's gets so good and now I can't seem to put the books down!

You will laugh your butt off, cry your eyes out and pull your hair out, and thats only the beginning. Amy Sumida is an artist, she writes and paints and is a tattoist, but at heart she is a philosopher. So many life lessons to be learned in her beautiful words. So much to imagine in her amazing worlds. All the different mythologies you can learn about. She describes everything perfectly. I have fallen in love with all the characters in the series. So we have a woman who kills gods and lusts after them as well. We have gods who all seem to have a thing for her and then we have some bad gods who want war among humans. I liked the action and the story kept me interested for sure. I saw there are a lot of books in the series and was looking g forward to it but I can't do multiple lovers and husbands, so this is the only one I will be reading.

I have really enjoyed The Godhunter series. I currently just finished book twelve, Perchance to Die, and am heading into Tracing Thunder. I have mixed feelings about the series. I initially got into the books because I like steamy romance novels, that being said the book series started out deliciously steamy and has faded to a romantic touch between fantasy realms, drama, and battlefields. So I’m left a little dissatisfied in my readings now, but the author’s use of imagery, fiction, and vocabulary have kept me going. It’s almost like a TV series that you’ve invested so much time in. You don’t want to give up. You want to see what happens. But, you’re just not as “turned on” as you once were.

I read multiple books a day and am a big fan of this series and this author. Her ability to create world's and blend plots perfectly without it being predictable is unparalleled. The heroine is strong, and continues to grow throughout, which I love. There's also an incredible cast of supporting characters that also grow and add new and exciting dynamics.

Do not let the negative reviews deter you from reading this book. It was different from what I was expecting, which made it refreshingly awesome. I loved all of the characters...no spoilers...let's just say that they are interesting to say the least. The only thing that I didn't like was Blue's infatuation with the Russians. Even with that plus the grammar/punctuation errors, the book was unique and a highly entertaining read. I can't wait to pick up the next one.

I am a huge fan of Amy Sumida. I was lucky enough to stumble upon Godhunter and have reread the entire series waiting for the new ones to come out. I love the characters in this book and the rest of the Godhunter series. I quite literally find myself laughing out loud because the character reactions are really that funny. I enjoy the witty banter Vervain spews out and can appreciate the movie references that none of the Gods seem to understand. Amy Sumida has created a wonderful world of fantasy with an incredible blend of mythology and new ideas. I hope she continues the Godhunter series for many years to come.

I've been sucked in by this story and couldn't be happier to see that there is so many more books left in this series. I love Vervain she's hilarious. The way the author uses all of these myths and legends surrounding the gods and integrates them into this story is just amazing and so much fun to read.

There's a lot of books out there about vampires and werewolves, there's even some about gods but this one combines them all and gives them a unique beginning. Gods are the source of all the things that go bump in the night. There's an Aztec god of war that is the father of vampires and a Norse wolf god who made the werewolves. The really interesting bit is that gods are not really gods, they are the survivors of Atlantis who spread out over the world after destroying their continent with their magic and technology. They discovered that they could take the energy of humans through sacrifice and so set themselves up as gods but then humans stopped worshiping them and they had to figure out a way to get more power. So they start manipulating humans into war and taking the dead as sacrifice. Ms. Sumida puts the story forth in a very believable way, hard to do for a subject that can get cheesy in the wrong hands. Her heroine is sassy, witty, and just plain funny, giving relief to a dark subject: a witch who has chosen to kill gods for the good of humanity. A thoroughly enjoyable read that leaves you antsy for the next book in this remarkable new series.

This is my second time reading this book. I'm sure it won't be the last. The h is not perfect and doesn't claim to be. V is loveable and hilarious and such a badass! She goes from seeing things black and white to the shades of grey. Read and you will be hooked on this series! Unless you have no sense of humor and are a robot.

This is the start of a series about a god killing witch with a sharp wit and even sharper knives. I loved the writing style, the main character and the sense of humour. The world building was fantastic. Thought the plot was a bit on the thin side but that may be because I’m not a big fan of romance stories. Highly recommended for PNR fans!

The concept is sort-of interesting, a bit like Neil Gaiman's American Gods, but with a lot more sex and death. I don't have anything against sex and death :) but in between there was a lot of nothing happening, aside from the Godhunter being wonderful. I was bored and fast forwarded through whole sections.
I think I found it unbelievable. Not the Gods, I was happy to believe in them, but that she was the only Godhunter, EVER. The author gave her no attributes that made this believable.
Other problems were that she's pretty obviously the author living out her fantasies. Not necessarily a problem, but here it means that the Godhunter is far too perfect (she pokes some fun at herself - but underneath, you know she, and the author, think she's just wonderful) and it's obvious nothing too bad will ever happen to her - she's always going to emerge triumphant.
First of a big series. One was more than enough for me.
Oh [SPOILER] Jesus was one of the gods, which was brave of the author (though maybe not as brave as Allah, who I didn't spot). So two stars, not one.

This is just a really good story where you find yourself smirking, smiling, grinning, chuckling, and laughing outright a whole lot of the time. Thanks, Ms. Sumida, I had a really good time hanging out in the place you've created. Truly a pleasure.

After just starting this series, I can now say I know what all the hype over this series is about!! I am literally obsessed with this book and I can't wait to continue reading the series!!! Such a different story and so amazing!

This book had a really interesting plot and plenty of adventure. However everything good about this story soon became lost in a high school drama of an unnecessarily moody romance and corny one liners. It took some patience to read through the, 'I'm too broken to be loved, but every straight powerful guy wants to claim me....' drivel. Still, I found the plot dynamic enough to be worth finishing the book. I most likely won't continue the series though. The author has already set up the ongoing romantic turmoil of a new love triangle that will lead into the next book. It's more of the same, making it fairly predictable and a bit tedious.

I discovered Amy Sumida through her Twilight Court series, and thoroughly enjoyed her sense of humor. I love that her female leads are strong, badass women who can be vulnerable without being reduced to a simpering stereotypical damsel in distress.

This series is so addicting! I started it 3 weeks ago and am on book 13... I work 50+ hours a week. I pick reading over sleep and that says a lot for me. Vervain, not Vivian, is the perfect heroine. She makes mistakes and owns them in a witty way. The men she happens to score are no slouches either ?

I love the passion she has put into all the characters and how unique she turns the story into, to make the characters fit the part, always leaves you guessing what can happen next and makes the thrill of wanting to know what happens take hold even more to keep reading the next books ??

I love this series. The main character has spunk, but I cried when she cried because she also has so much heart. So many depths to this series and I always anticipate new characters and dig deeper into the world of the Gods.

This book is filled with mythological gods of all type and the perfect balance of conflict to romance. The sex scenes are steamy, but middle of the road on graphic content. Truly enjoyable and addictive.

I just love Amy Sumida's Godhunter series. She does a great job breathing new life into the Gods. I fell in love with Vervain's way of thinking/way of talking. I love that each character is unique. I find myself scurrying to get to the next story. This is one of those stories that I wish would just keep going on forever. I will probably read all of Amy's work once I am finish with this series.

I just picked this up as a free book to read and i ended up buying the rest. yes I am a guy and i still enjoyed the characters. Vervain seems like someone you would want to hang out with, she says the same things i would say in similar situations and I understood all of the pop culture references. Thumbs up.

I purchased and read the entire series one book after the other. I was anxiously awaiting GH#12 and was thrilled when it was just released. I have to urge anyone that loves romance, particularly paranormal romance to get started with Godhunter and soon you'll be awaiting Vervain's adventures too!

Congratulations Amy Sumida on a fabulous premise and a utterly absorbing series.
