t's not often i find a book that i wish i could read in one sitting, so, as i couldn't i found myself reading it whenever i could snatch some time. This book is completely engaging from the start and the story unfolds at a good pace. We are introduced to Wynter Reeves whose mantra "don't stand out, blend in, be invisible" has so far served her well in the conformist society she inhabits. However a very public display of behaviour outside of her control turns that mantra upside down and her life is irrevocably changed. She is taken to the sinister DSD where she meets the seemingly kind and trustworthy Dr Richter, who's true colours don't take long to show. The situation she finds herself in is genuinely harrowing at times and because the author does such a great job at making Wynter such a genuine character, the impact of her ordeal is all the more raw to read. Wynter's unique abilities allow her to find a way to a different side of the state and to a group trying to make a difference, however, what sort of difference does her arrival mean to them? I don't want to give to much of the story away, but there are discoveries made and hard choices to make to get us to the cliffhanger. I enjoyed this book so much, all the characters were engaging and well written, they all had a place and served to drive the story forward. The pace didn't falter and there were no times when i felt the story was lacking or in need of trimming. I hope i don't have to wait to long for the next instalment!

I wanted to like this book a lot more than I did... The world building and writing is fantastic, but Wynter, she drove me crazy. I could even get into her character (like I said the writing is tight!). But there were too many times, too many lost opportunities when a simple verbal exchange would have helped... It also didn't help that some the other characters around her weren't very talkative either... I'm looking at you, Ezra!

I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. The opinions in this review are my own. I found this book refreshing. I think that readers that enjoyed the Hunger Games, The Giver, and other such books will like this book. I have read the books I mentioned and this book felt very much in the same vein for me. I enjoyed reading this and seeing M.A. Phipps take on the genre. I enjoyed the main character Wynter Reeves. As I was reading I started to think about how I would respond if I were in the same situation. I would recommend this book to readers that might be looking for a new to them author or something that is a bit of a different read.

When I first picked up this booked I didn't know what exactly to expect, and I must say I was pleasantly surprized. Ms. Phipps delivers a well rounded book, characters with depth and many secrets. We get to see her main character, Wyntyer, grow and into a strong and passionate young woman after her life falls apart around her and she discovers how very cruel and complicated the "real" world is. She deals with may issues both physical and mental, we see her struggle with and learn that life is not black and white, right and wrong get tangled together making the hardest decision of her young life that much more difficult. Wynter is very relatable to many both young and old alike.

I have only given this book 4/5 because I wanted more, and that being its not a bad thing. I am a very visual person and I wanted more of a description of the world around her, to feel the dirt under their feet and the sweat on their dirty cloths, but that's just me. However you do feel every gut wrenching moments, panic ,passion, pain....I felt every emotion the characters felt.
I wanted more! More Jenner, more Ria and yes even the Dr. There are so so many secrets and mystery here and I can't wait to see where Ms. Phipps going to take the next two books.

Fantastic, dark, and twisted. I loved it! I can't hardly say it, but I love it. I wasn't expecting what I got out of this, and it left me feeling nervous for what is going to happen! It all feels up in the air and like anything could happen next and the future is not as set as Wynter thinks it is. Lots of excitement, but also lots of sadness. In a world void of emotion and personal connections, where the government makes sure you don't feel, that's a very sad world indeed. Great start to a series I can't wait to continue to read!

4.5 stars! This was a fabulous dystopian novel! The author really had a way with words and made this world real for me. I was sucked right in and didn't even notice the passing of time until I fell off that cliff at the end (haha). The excerpt for the next book has me really excited, I can't wait to find out what happens to Wynter and with Ezra! If dystopian is your thing, if definitely recommend this book.

The author knows how to keep your attention the whole time. Her writing is captivating and keeps you on the edge of your seat. I don't always read dystopian but I love her take on it. I can't wait to read the next book and continue on this amazing ride. This one definitely leaves you with a cliffhanger. It's a story of how love finds a way even if you have never known what it was. How feelings will always find a way to surface and leave you out of breathe.

I VOLUNTARILY REVIEWED A COPY FROM THE "RACHEL E. CARTER YA BOOK CLUB" ON GOODREADS.

This was a very intriguing and fast paced read! I was immediately drawn in by the unique storyline. I don't think I have ever read a book quite like this one, which made it very hard to put down. Can't wait for the sequel!

A new to me author, I was surprised that I enjoyed the book as much as I did. I'm not a huge fan of dystopia, but was intrigued by the nature of the visions Wynter keeps seeing. Started kind of slow for me, I dont know that it was the writing so much, as I don't normally pick out this genre, but interesting enough for me to read the rest in this series.

Okay so before I start praising every detail of this FABULOUS book, I would like to point out that this book is a dystopian novel. Yes, I know you probably read that sentence and went "DUH," but if you know me, I typically do not like dystopian novels. I have read a plethora of them, so trust me when I say that I have only liked a few dystopian novels and the rest hurtled into the section of my brain known as The Point of No Return, as in I never want the memories of the book to EVER return! It became comical for me as I was plowing through the so-called "popular" dystopian novels that I began to start singing "Another one bites the dust"....*Book soars into the black, dismal expanse known as The Point of No Return*..."Another one down, another one down, another one bites the dust." Whew, sorry about my boring babble, but I hope you catch my drift, and I was able to accurately convey by loathing for dystopian novels. You might ask why I gave "Ultraxenopia" 5 glorious stars if I hate dystopian novels. Well, my fellow book lovers, this novel has restored my faith in dystopian novels because I absolutely and unequivocally LOVED and ADORED this novel.

Loved this read. It shows what one person would do to help save the lives of the ones they care for and the ones they love. Even if it means sacrificing yourself for the greater good. Hoping to have faith in the better good.

Where torture can lead you to when you need to do, where you need to find yourself. Loved this story with wynter I felt the emotions that she experienced right along with her.

I struggled with reading this book. It's not one of my normal reads, but I couldn't make myself give up on reading it. Once I got to chapter 10 it became much better, but it took me days to get to that point. There wasn't anything particularly wrong with the book, it just didn't hold my attention in the beginning.

There were so slow parts but it started getting really good when Wynter met up with Ezra. The end just ruined it for me. I was mad at the decision Wynter made. I received a free copy of this book and voluntarily chose to review it. The opinions and views on it are my own.

Ultraxenopia (Project W.A.R. #1) is suspenseful and keeps you on the edge of your seat. There were times when I felt as though I couldn't breath while anticipating what was going to happen next. I couldn't turn the pages fast enough!!!! What will happen next?????? I can't wait to find out in book 2. I enjoyed this book greatly and highly recommend purchasing it.

This book is a futrelistis version of how they use a person for world domination. She thinks she is saving the people she love from destroying their lives. The doctor during the testing erases her memory so she doesn't run away and to keep her inline.

I think this was a very good book. I would read more on this series! I found myself taken by the life and struggles of the main character, Wynter Reeves. Wynter takes a placement exam that will determine the rest of her life. I enjoyed following this character in this story. I can see this book as a movie one day! * I received this book from the author in exchange for an honest review*

This was a brutal read. Dangerous, compelling, Wynter hits every mark in her moments of pain, surprise, and self discovery. If you love dystopian, this is the book for you. Project WAR is coming for us all.

M.A.Phipps has created an amazing dystopian novel, it has drama, feelings, politics and rebellion, what more do you need.
Seeing as I’m really not a fan of dystopian novels (with exception of The Hunger Games), I found it to be very refreshing.
Everyone that loves this genre (but I loved it, so you’ll like it even if you’re not a fan of the genre) will be happy that this book excists, it’s a new story and a breath of fresh air.
I absolutely can’t wait for the sequel.
How great is it that is going to be a trilogy

This story pulls you in from the beginning and leaves you wanting to read the next book immediately! We meet Wynter as she nervously heads to take a placement exam that will determine the rest of her life. She has an anxiety attack, leaves early, and then everything in her life is turned upside down. The evolution of this story draws you in and does not let go. I read it in two sittings! And that was only because I had to work.
If you enjoy dystopian novels and strong character development, you will definitely enjoy this book. The best part is that there is more to come! I cannot wait for the next book.

I really enjoyed reading this book. It's well written and the concept is unlike other dystopian novels out there. Not only is the story line interesting, but the world it's set in and the sub characters all add to the mystery. As it's written from the perspective of the main character I connected early on with her, and I really want to know what happens next! It would appeal to a wide audience - anyone who likes mystery, thriller, dystopia and more.
