I purchased the hardcover book which is beautifully illustrated with a color picture by each recipe. The print is large enough to be easily read. The recipes give step by step instructions that are easy to follow with ingredients that are readily found in stores with the exception of the Fuhrman seasonings which are optional. I like this book because most of the recipes do not call for soy, tahini, or miso. The three recipes that I have tried turned out well & were enjoyed by my family. WE have enjoyed the Eggplant & Black Bean Stew, Two-Bean Chili, & Chickpea Burgers. I plan to try the Very Vegetable Burritos, Carrot & Red Lentil Soup, Easy Spit Pea Stew, & Mushroom & Barley Soup. While I do not usually make desserts, the ice creams, cookies, & bars look healthy & delicious so I will be trying some of these recipes as well. This book contains so many recipes that I would like to try which is unusual. I am sure that this will be my go-to recipe book.

This cookbook has some really great recipes, especially the desserts. They are truly easy to follow and don't contain hard to find or exotic ingredients similar to other vegan/vegetarian cookbooks I have. All of the recipes also include color photos of the finished product, which I really like to help thumb through and determine what I want to make that day.

As an editor (in another field), I am impressed by the quality of this book--it's really nicely done and a quality book. I like the hard cover, the pictures are beautiful, and the layout is attractive and easy to follow. I haven't tried to make any recipes yet, but I've read through many of them and look forward to trying them. I especially like the ease of these recipes. As a member of drfuhrman.com, I frequently download recipes, and this book offers new recipes that are easy and healthy and that will allow me to use healthy food choices in a new way. Great purchase! I plan to buy a couple copies to give as gifts to friends.

I like this cookbook. It’s not the tastiest because he uses no fat but the recipes are creative and healthy. I will be adding olive oil to my dishes. Love the smoothies and the veggie ideas. Definetly a good investment for those with health issues wondering how to make new changes in their diet.

I've had the book for a week now and have loved everything I've made: Kale and Red Cabbage Salad, Old-Fashioned Grain and Mushroom Salad with Tomato Dressing, Mushroom and Barley Soup, and Chocolate Hummus (amazing! Some of my friends said not to call it "hummus" since the name probably puts people off, but it was delicious!). I look forward to cooking through the rest of this book and having this arsenal of no added oil, salt, or sugar vegan recipes.

Love the cook book. Have tried many recipes and have had great success. The dish and the recipe on facing page makes it easy to see what the dish will be like. Also not too many odd ingredients in the recipes.

Love Dr. Fuhrman's recipes which are both delicious and healthy. I'm a regular visitor to the website and receive weekly emails with delicious recipes. Wish there wasn't such an emphasis on eggplant and bananas, neither of which I enjoy.

A great effort and an example of Dr Fuhrman's research and diligence. Not having spent time trying the recipes i concluded that in my scan it is a remarkable cookbook. I need a few weeks to try his recipes. Great humaan being and lecturer. It doesn't get better than this. B. Brandt

**I've amended my original rating from three stars to four stars. After cooking lots more recipes from all of the categories, I've grown to really love this cookbook. I stand by my opinion that salt is a necessary ingredient in cooking most anything. And I use healthy oils sparingly. But if you know how to modify, or are used to the no oil/salt nutritarian diet, this is an excellent cookbook.
Original review-
I really wanted to love this cookbook, as I'm trying so hard to eat a healthy diet, especially by following the eat to live guidelines, but.....it was only o.k.
Pros: All the recipes are very healthy!! They are all easy to prepare using common (if you cook at all) ingredients. They come together quickly.
Cons: The recipes are BLAND! Dr. Fuhrman uses NO salt in any of the recipes, and minimal spice.. I get it that too much sodium is unhealthy, but come on, no salt? Even bread needs some salt to taste palatable. Anyway, if you are a semi-experienced cook you will be able to add spices and SALT to these recipes to make them both healthy and yummy. Otherwise, forget it. If you make the recipes as written and are used to good food, you will be disappointed.

I found nothing in "Joel Fuhrman's Eat To Live" cookbook which I could not have found on the internet -- free of charge. In addition, I think it would have been beneficial for Dr. Fuhrman to have included guidelines regarding his diet and nutrition recommendations. The glossary in the back is often unhelpful in finding a particular recipe or group of recipes. (Did I mention that some of the pictures, particularly those of the desserts, look awful? In fact, downright unappetizing.") I regret this purchase.

I saw this guy on a PBS special during one of their interminable pledge drives. I eat a lot of junk, and I know I need to change my ways, so I decided to buy some of his books from the store, instead of spending $400 or whatever crazy amount PBS wanted. (I *did* send PBS some money - just not that much!) I am pretty sure this way of eating would indeed be healthy - but I think it may be too extreme for someone like me. I am not a vegetarian, and I eat red meat and other terrible things, so I think maybe if you're like me, a more gradual approach might be easier. They call this plan "Nutritarian" and I think they are basically almost vegans, allowing you (I think) a maximum of 10% of your food from animal products. So it would be a drastic reduction for many people, hardly any meat, cheese, eggs, mayo, yogurt, sour cream, etc...I am going to try to increase my vegetables and fruits and good grains - and he recommends legumes & beans...but I think it will be a while before I can really give up the amount of animal products he recommends. If you can do it - more power to you!

I like the recipes for the most part; they can be easily adapted by those who are unafraid of healthy oils and dairy products. For example, many of the dishes could be modified to fit a mainly Mediterranean diet. The "Nutritarian" philosophy seems dogmatic, and I think few people will stick with it for the long run. Like many such diets (such as ketogenic, Zone, and vegan), this one seems too restrictive for those who are naturally social and like to share meals with people who may prefer very different foods. I'm not saying that the Nutritarian diet isn't physically healthy but that adhering too strictly to any diet is unhealthy psychologically and socially. Judging by the title and back cover copy, I had hoped this book would be a bit more flexible and open-minded it its approach to what foods to eat (or not)..."everything in moderation."

Having said this, most of the recipes here are quite delicious indeed and quite healthy, though I probably wouldn't have purchased the book just for the recipes. My approach is to sauté not with water but with healthy oils such as my favorites, an avocado/coconut oil blend or ghee. I tend to use almond or coconut milk, but I also like butter and cheeses in moderation (nothing like nibbling on a good brie or camembert with red wine or port for desert after a healthy meal.

This cookbook has very few new recipes. It seems to just reorganize recipes from the previous cookbook, or disguise a recipe from the first cookbook by placing it into a pita pocket. Dr. Fuhrman's first cookbook is excellent, with lots of good dressings and sauces, which, for me, is the important thing in fat-free, salt-free, sugar-free, vegan cuisine. I highly recommend the first cookbook, but the current one, "Eat to Live Quick and Easy Cookbook" is a waste of money. I would have returned it for a refund if I hadn't been informed that a full refund is not possible. I may just donate it to the local library or use it as a yoga prop.

I have several recipe books but this one is the best. First, I certainly prescribe to Dr Furhmans recommended diet of Gbombs. It makes the most sense and is the most practical for me. So I bought this book with optimism it would work for me and it has so far. The recipes are highly practical, easy and quick to put together and taste quite good. I am working on trying them all, not there yet. I recommend the book.

I like this cookbook for its nutrition information included with each recipe, especially when planning calorie allowance for the day or tracking if on a plateau.Admittedly,I have just begun the eat to live aggressive weight loss six week plan, though.
There are some ,but not too many pictures of food in this cookbook.Recipes have yield,or how many they serve. Some serve two, some serve six.I skimmed a lot because I started salivating, and it's three fifty in the morning and not time to eat.

I read a lot of cookbooks.Rarely do I find a book with so many recipes to try. It's easy to read, the recipes are easy to follow and it has colorful illustrations of each dish. I highly recommend this book-especially if you are just starting out on your plant-based journey.

It may be a little unfair of me to leave a review since the only section I read was the salad dressings, my main interest. Every single dressing has vinegar, which I dislike intensely. Fortunately I ordered a Kindle version so I was able to return it for a refund.
