I’m a voracious reader and read dozens of books a year. This book is quite frankly one of my all time favorites. So well written, smart, funny, and emotional. The banter is laugh out loud funny with some serious heartfelt topics. The writer truly has a way with words. Do yourself a favor and read this. I’m off to see what else she’s written!

Such a beautiful yet sad story about forgiveness and trying to move on. Ellen was feisty, beautiful, and so strong. Flint was tragic, but also sexy, kind, and an amazing father. Their love story was complicated but it worked for them. Great book!!!

I often see people comment that books are funny, but I very rarely laugh out loud at books but this one had me. I laughed so often. The characters were interesting and engaging, the plot was OK, I would definitely read more from this author.

One of my favorite novels by Jewel E. Ann, right up there with "One." I appreciated that there wasn't a lot of "will they, won't they" in this story. It was more a question of "can they?" Ellen and Flint knew they wanted each other, but the timing was just...off. Life and its obligations sometimes get in the way of a grand romance. I really enjoyed seeing them make a commitment to each other with realistic expectations, and then navigate their way through some uncharted (sometimes rocky) territory to be together.

This book was everything. Made me laugh, cry, get angry. Major emotional rollercoaster. This is a must read. The way each character takes apart of your heart, as if your old friends. Totally have a new book boyfriend.

Holy crap! This book is incredible! I looooved every single one of the characters in this book so much! Especially Harry. That kid stole my whole heart.
This story was absolutely hilarious at times and heartbreaking at other times, and just so sweet and swoon worthy, too. I loved it!

I picked this book on a whim. So glad I did. I have read hundreds of books in the last few years. Many, I do not really remember. A select few, I do. This one will go in the remember pile. Thanks so much for writing this. It is a wonderful story.

I don’t have much to add to all the other glowing reviews, but I wanted to give this book my 5 stars. I am not generally a fan of Jewel E Ann, but I thoroughly enjoyed this romance. I also highly recommend another story of hers called One.

A great read. Excellent character development. Witty, real and beautiful! Worth reading!!! Hate writing reviews it's why I don't leave more reviews I hate that it makes me keep adding more words. I should be able to give a star rating only.

If you're looking for a contemporary romance novel, it doesn't get much better than this. Lots of drama, angst, humor and sexy times. Harry, the autistic son, was done extremely well. Looking forward to whatever Jewel E Ann writes next.

Love this writer. This is my first book review because this story moved me. Flawed imperfect people who love their families and are perfect for one another. Not cardboard cutouts of hot tattooed guy and tiny but busty 21yo like so many authors do now but rich, layered characters that show their joy and pain. The portrayal of Harry felt true but not condescending. Loved this book. Time to search for more by this author.

I Iove this author. I fell in Iove with Elle and Flint and Harrison too. Pet rats? No thank you. I laughed out loud at every scene with Flints secretary. I hope she gets her own story or is featured again in another story. Great read!!

This book was too long. Around 50%, I felt the book was wrapping up and it would have been completely appropriate. But nooooo! The whole business with Jon and then Sandy was overkill. Elle and Flint were also annoyingly hot and cold. The eviction issue was so over played, I almost quit on the book altogether. It was okay, but less would have definitely been more in this case.

Flint is a tortured soul after drinking drink kills his wife. Elle had been own hang ups from an abusive relationship. I'm a sucker for tortured souls who find happiness together and help to heal each other.

It was a great down to earth read. Elle didn't back down easy and Flint had a lot of guilt to get through. His son Harrison made you laugh
..the banter between them kept you in tune. The book went fast...it was that good.

I usually don’t like books where the H or h have a deceased spouse. I don’t like feeling their ghost on every page. This book had the right amount of angst over the situation but didn’t over dwell on it.

This book is written from both the hero and heroine point of views. The hero believes he's beyond redemption. The heroine is trying to rebuild her life after an abusive marriage. Are the willing to fight for a second chance at love. There is a busy body personal assistance and a kick in the seat of your pant advice giving dad to bring the comic release. The characters were mostly believable. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and hope you will too.

As far as romance novels go, you either read one feeling like it was force and unrealistic or you find one you absolutely love. I absolutely loved this book. It was real, the emotions felt real and while Elle was a bit eccentric in the beginning grew to love her character. I swooned over Flint and loved Harrison. This book was refreshing I’m glad I gave it a chance.

If Jewel E. Ann wrote it, you should read it. She tells.stories with layers upon layers of life. We each dream of what we want our life to look like and then all the unexpected moments occur.....some good and some bad that shape our lives and mold us into the person we are. This book tells the heartbreakly amazing story of Flint and Elle and all the happiness, joy, sorrow, anger, laughter and grief they experience along the way. Read it, feel it, enjoy it.

The story is interesting, and I like the two contrasting personalities, but the whole lack if morals is sad. Even the H's parents are happy with his one night stands whenever they visit. Yuck! The h is aggressively pushing this relative stranger to have sex, and behaving like a slut. The whole atmosphere is without values and commitment, which the reader accepts since we know they'll have a HEA...something that would rarely happen in real life. I got tired of her constant touching and witty yet crude come ons, so this was a DNF for me.
I wish the author would turn thus story into something cleaner.

I loved the characters. Elle is outspoken, extroverted, and corky. Flint is OCD, grouchy, and introverted. They compliment each other well. “Look The Part” KILLED me and it has taken me two days to write this review so I could get over the emotional hangover / migraine headache I got from reading it. That’s a good thing BTW. From the minute I started this beautiful story I did not want to put it down. I didn’t think my boss would understand that “I’m reading this really great book and don’t want to put it down so I’m going to be out of work for the day”, I actually woke up two mornings in a row with a sniffling nose and red rimmed eyes.
This is Flint’s story who we first met in the book “ONE’. I was honestly bummed that “Kong” didn’t get his story told first but I’m here to tell you that the series is written exactly as it is meant to be. Flint is a much more complex guy than I ever imagined and I’m so glad to have met him in the manner with which I did.
The banter and “lust/hate” relationship that Flint and Ellen have is one filled with laughter and tears and heart break and so much more. The way these characters were written took my breath away. I also appreciated the tenderness with which the author wrote Flint’s son and Elle’s father. They could have each been so cliché but they were written with an understanding and delicateness that felt so real.
I recommend this book one hundred times and this can absolutely be read as a stand-alone.

The saying goes...you should not judge a book by its cover...that is so true in this case. I did not like the cover and scrolled right past it. I went back and read some of the reviews, saw how many star it had and bought it. One of my favorite books I have read this year! It is a story of Flint, his son Harrison who is autistic, and Ellen a music therapist. It is a story that at times tugs at your heart and you feel the hurt that each of these characters is feeling. It is story of love and how one can not feel worthy of someone's love and the quilt they carry from the past. It is about helping each other get through it and finding a place together. The dialogue is laugh out loud funny when it includes Harrison. The secondary characters are all interesting and add a lot to the storyline. I don't think I will ever hum again without thinking of Ellen! This is a great story that I did not want to end. My first book I have read by this author and I look forward to reading more. Highly recommend this book!!!

This author is one that you just know is going to deliver a 5 Star or above. Of course she has. This book is absolutely brilliant! Elle is one of the most original “heroines” I’ve ever met, as well as Flint. I loved that I couldn’t get a read on them until about 40% through the book. I loved Harry and his very real personality. I laughed, I cried, I swooned, I sat in awe. I highlighted a LOT in this book as there are a lot on life lessons to be reminded of! Highly recommend!!!

This book doesn't just look the part, it's perfect. It delivers everything I adore in a story. It's humorous, it's emotional, it's insightful and where necessary it doesn't pull its punches. Flint Hopkins has a lot to feel guilty about. However, even though we are shown his arrogance, his weakness, which in the past led him to making a catastrophic decision, I was never able to dislike him. Perhaps it's because this author is exceptional at telling it like it is, yet allowing her characters to redeem themselves in other ways, in ways which seem real and justified. Years of regret have understandably taken its toll on Flint and it will take someone special to break through his dour exterior. There's no doom and gloom here, however, and chapters from Flint's point of view had me giggling as they show us that he's not completely shut down. His surly manner is wonderfully balanced with the humour of his gloriously funny secretary Amanda and his interactions with his son Harrison. Harrison is a sweetheart. I love his honesty and forthright approach to life. His personality and manner are clearly something which have been written with care and thoughtfully executed.
Flint has met his match in Ellen. I have to say I want to hug this author for creating the beautiful soul that is Ellen Rodgers. A music therapist she is kind and intelligent, witty and tenacious and full of life. She is all these things without being sickly sweet. She's had her own share of heartache but hasn't allowed this to weaken her resolve. When life challenges her, she rolls up her sleeves and gets on with it. She is a joy to read and I love her. One of my favourite book heroines ever.
Look the Part is a beautiful story about regret and forgiveness, redemption and second chances. I laughed, I cried, I sighed with happiness across the pages of this book and I didn't want it to end.

The story of Flint and Ellen..
Flint is a lawyer that somehow has lost all motives for life.. except he has his son, Harrison and adorable Autistic teenage boy that is keeping him alive and kicking more than ever.. Flint was handsome and successful in his work but his mood and attitude was always sour and didn't have many friends or people who wanted to hang out with him.. his world was all about his son.. he didn't have time for flirting or even dating.. he had a very bad mood most of the time, he was strict and he had a funny way with food.. specially if it is for his son..
Ellen is a beautiful Music Therapist who happened to rent a new office above Flint.. she was making a new life far away from her past.. she is not running from it but she wants to forget all about it.. she was once in love and he wasn't the prince she thought he was... he made her feel less and this time she didn't want to repeat the same mistake all over again.. this time she was ready to feel and to let go..
“My darling girl, the words I love you only hurt the people who refuse to set them free. So when you feel it, say it.”
Everything was going great in her new life and new office until her first new patience arrived, and all the "noises" of her therapy started to flow around the whole building through Flints doors...
bringing down the possibility to continue... she needs to find another place, not before falling in love with her new landlord..
“When people touch, they no longer feel like strangers. It’s a feeling. When humans share feelings, they connect on an intimate level. It’s why I love music. It can go deeper than words. Rhythm is the heartbeat of your soul.”
This is a great story, you're going to laugh a lot with Harrison, his characters is amazing, he is strong, open and always say what he needs to say without filters.. he is a very important part and key for Ellen and Flint relationship..
“He wants to ask you on a date. No sex. No kissing. Dinner and a movie. And I can’t go with you.”
Flint is trying so hard to ignore his feelings about Ellen, he constantly put objections and walls so he can ignore the intense attractions between them... Ellen is a very relaxed and easy going heroine, she knows there is something going on between her and Flint but she also knows Flint is trying so hard not to act on those feelings.. so in the mean time while they decide if they can work in the same building their relationship starts to bloom... feelings start to get strong, and the chemistry is electric.. there is no more denying for these two to finally take that step..
"Someday I’m going to get to live my happily ever after. No more packing up and driving away from the man that I love. Everyone has their time. I will find mine."

As Flint turns to follow behind him, I grab his wrist. Flint looks over his shoulder at my hand on him.

You know that a book is good if you spend your late night hours reading, only to wake up early on one of the first days of summer break to finish it. And over the past few days I have done nothing but read Jewel E. Ann books. It has been a real treat coming across a new to me author and then drinking up their books. They are just that good!
The relationships that formed between everyone was some of the best I have read. They made me smile, they made me laugh and they even had me hurting. I loved the boss/employee relationship between Flint and Amanda. She kept him on his toes so that he was having to “fire" her on a daily basis. I would laugh out loud at all their scenes. Then the one with Ellen and Harrison, Flint’s son, was sweet and touching. She and Harrison connected in a way that Flint had yet to do with his son.
But the best of all was the one between Flint and Ellen. Theirs was beautiful, yet delicate. Captivating, but slightly tragic at times. So many obstacles stood in their way just when Flint was ready to live again. I could not get enough of them and their story.
Humorous, romantic and heartbreaking, LOOK THE PART had me where I didn’t want to put it down. Because who really needs sleep anyhow? Now I just need to determine what book of Ann’s to read next. 5 Definite Must Read Stars!!

Oooooh — that was such a good book! Look the Part left me with a smile on my face and that nice warm, gooey feeling you have after you finish reading an amazing story. I have to say that I wasn’t sure I would get that feeling after that beginning. It was rough and I actually set Look the Part aside and read something else before going back to it. But I’m so glad that I did go back and that I gave Look the Part a chance because after that distance and once I really started in, I immediately fell in love with Look the Part — it was truly wonderful!
It’s so hard to decide who I loved more between Ellen and Flint, but I think that honor has to go to Ellen, so I’ll talk about our hero first. When I first met Flint, I didn’t like him, I probably even felt a little bit of hate towards him, but it wasn’t long before he cured me of that. Yeah, there are times when he can be a turkey, but Flint really is a good man. He’s so sweet with and good to Ellen. He’s an amazing father and he would do anything for Harrison and Elle. Flint made me fall in love with him and he’ll do the same for you, so give him a chance and you won’t regret it!
And Ellen, I loved her immediately, but how could I not? She’s fun and light and positive. She’s confident and playful and has adorable quirks. Ellen is just like music — she’s down to earth, she goes with the flow, and she’s full of passion. Ellen is beautiful inside and out and there’s not one thing that I didn’t love about her or wished she would change — she’s outstanding!
Look the Part isn’t an easy read, it will frustrate you and maybe even infuriate you a little bit. It will break your heart and bring tears to your eyes, definitely more than once. It might make your heart ache, but it will also make you laugh and smile and melt your heart. It was beautiful and tragic and heartwarming and I couldn’t get enough of it. I absolutely loved Look the Part — it was just so much!
Look the Part is a standalone told from Flint and Ellen’s POV and they do get their happy ending.

Jewel E. Ann is without doubt one of my favourite authors, every book is perfectly written and will toy with all your emotions and Look the Part is no exception. I was excited to see this book was about Flint Hopkins after meeting him in a previous book and being intrigued by him.
Flint is a complex character he is living his life in the shadow of a tragic mistake and is devoted entirely to his autistic son Harrison. He comes across as a bit of an ass but as the story develops and his layers are stripped away you can't help but fall for the man he truly is.
Ellen is a wonderful character and I'm totally crushing on her, she has her own issues but wears a mask of confidence to hide them. As we learn more about her you can't help but love her more. She is gooky, with her flirty touchy feely nature and her love for her rat babies and will have you laughing at her way of unnerving Flint.
Ellen is a music therapist and after renting office space from the bristly Flint her occupation soon causes friction between them. However the flirty Ellen quickly makes an impression on Flint that he can't ignore especially when she forms a friendship with his son Harrison, through the music and her rats, that he is hesitant to upset.
Harrison is such a sweet addition to this story and so well written by the author. His unfiltered ways of repeating conversations that aren't meant to be repeated tickled me so much. Flints devotion to his son was both beautiful and yet heart breaking given the reason that he takes it to the extreme.
A truly wonderful read that will have you laughing out loud one minute and the next will tug at your heart. It has a lovely cast of side characters that make up the story. And at one point I was ready to throw my kindle when it looked to be taking a wrong turn but the twists just added to the complex character of this story.
I honestly couldn't nor wanted to put this book down and it is one that I will say is a must read.

Look the Part was a brilliant story, filled with humour, and also some strong emotions too. Once I started it I could not put it down, and just wanted to follow Ellen and Flint's story.
Flint's life has not been easy. In the past he made a HUGE mistake, which has cost him so much (we find out what right at the start!) and he is still living with this terrible feelings of guilt. Unable to forgive himself or think he deserves any happiness, he is living for his son and that is it. That is until Ellen takes out the new tenancy agreement in his building where his office is. Unfortunately Flint is not aware that her job as a music therapist, actually involves MUSIC!!!
These two have an instant connection, Flint can't get her out of his head (quite literally when her clients play the drums!!), and she can't stop giving him backchat and banter. The hilarious back and forth between these two added a definite humorous feel to the entire storyline, yet as you will discover there are some devastating and emotional themes too, for both characters, which play a hugely important part in the story.
Harrison adds a huge part to this story and in many ways is pivotal to the two main characters coming together. Jewel E Ann has managed to create a very realistic and special character with him, and the relationships he has with both Ellen and Flint.
This story was so unique and different. You can always guarantee a Jewel E Ann story will be unlike any you have read before. She always adds something so special, writing with such a great flow to the story, the storyline is paced perfectly, with wonderfully developed characters, immersing the reader in the pages of the book.
This is a must read story which I would highly recommend. I don't want to give too much away as I feel you should immerse yourself into this wonderful story and the many layers and feelings it will create!

I’ve gone and done it. I popped my Jewel E. Ann Cherry!!! After this emotional journey, I feel the need to look up her other books and get to reading them! Written perfectly, pulling out every emotion available, I could not stop reading it.
Flint Hopkins is a damaged man. After one night of celebrating his birthday turned out to change his life forever, he lives for one thing and one thing only… His son Harrison.
Ellen Rodgers is starting a new life. She’s moved to a new town, started a new job and is moving on from her failed marriage. She is a music therapist for the local hospital and is all set up in her newly leased office to start seeing patients.
When the highly successful lawyer starts hearing bongos, guitars, tambourines added to the ‘wheels on the bus go round and round’ he blows his top. Immediately sets out to terminate the newly signed lease for the tenant upstairs.
The music therapist is doing her job. Not her fault that the ‘sex in a suit’ didn’t understand what her job truly was. She’s going to fight this to the end.
Absolutely loved the banter between Flint and Ellen. Both very headstrong people who have a hard time being convinced to change their way of thinking. But with that being said, they fit together perfectly!
Add in the no holds barred son, Harrison. Who truly speaks what’s on his mind and repeats truthfully things he has heard in conversations meant to not leave the house. I think 7 is a good number…to bad its also considered a D in school, equaling a 70%.
Fantastic book that deals with addiction and autism in a way that will make you want to go out and adopt a couple rats so that you can have your own rat pack!!!

Need more stars! This book was just a masterpiece. I felt everything reading this book. Within the first couple of paragraphs, you just know that your emotions are going to be tested by this book. Flint and Ellen are just the best characters. They are unique, quirky and different. The tension and banter between them in the beginning of the book is playful and flirty and so smart.
Ellen: "You sure do look the part Mr. Hopkins". Every time, she said this during different parts of the book, I laughed, I choked up. Who knew that the same 8 words could make you feel so many different things each time you read them.
And while these two characters were amazing enough, there were so many others. Harry... We should all be so lucky to encounter a soul like his and watching him and Elle bond, simply precious. The RATS!! OMG, Lady Gaga had me in fits of giggles. I almost want to go out and get some of them for my own pets. My highlighting finger was working overtime while reading this. And as funny as this book is, there are moments that you just couldn't imagine being in yourself and how tragic it must be to survive them. I'm still in awe of all of the emotions this book brought out of me and I won't be forgetting it any time soon. It's likely this book will be underrated, but it will probably be in my top 10 for the year.

Look the Part was my first novel by Jewel E. Ann and it was amazing! This book was so unique and the writing was so clean. I really enjoyed it. We have a very broken man, he’s aloof but he’s a loving father that is working, that is living for his son. I loved this straight-laced lawyer meeting a fun-loving musical therapist. They made me chuckle, they made me swoon, and made my heart ache. I was impressed with Jewel E. Ann’s writing. She’s super creative in her storyline and in her word flow. I really loved the sexiness and the emotions of the characters. It’s a perfect balance and Ann pulled it off flawlessly.
Flint is struggling with a life altering mistake. Everything in life is different because of his mistake. I love how hard he works for his autistic son Harrison. His new tenant, Ellen, above his very serious attorney firm is totally rocking his world! I mean that both, literally and figuratively! She’s loud and a bit quirky with all the banging going on above his firm. She drives him completely bonkers, but is it the attraction or the noise? Is it the pull they have to each other? Is it the connection Ellen seemed to have made instantly with Harrison? This is an amazing push-pull with some humor and emotion all whipped into one!

This is my first Jewel E. Ann book and I am a fan! Look the Part was such a fun and sexy book. THIS is what makes a good rom-com! I loved it!
This was such a unique book for me- nothing like I’ve ever read before. Yes, it was fun, it was sexy as hell and yes, it was hilarious!!!! Plus, I love a man in suit ..and Flint Hopkins delivers!
Look The Part is a page turner! The prologue in this book is what captures a reader from the get go and it doesn’t let go until the very end! I can’t emphasis enough how good this book is without spilling it out and I really don’t want to spill out the storyline!
But, just a little info, Flint is hard (ahem, not just talking about his abs here hehehe), he is stubborn, closed-off and broody (for a reason)… and then, we have Ellen… she is all sass! I loved her! she is so quirky, fun and sexy (that combo is deathly).
This book is packed with intrigue and such hilarious moments…and the secondary characters are a hoot!
Look The Part is a lust/love/hate relationship that is at times difficult but honest, beautiful and tragic.
I’d highly recommend this book to you!
Happy Reading!

So so so good! I can't even really say the words for how good this book is. You get a little of everything you love in a romance with this book! You get every emotion and you feel it, EVERYTHING!
Flint doesn't feel like he should be happy for what happened in his past. He just lives for his son Harrison. (Harrison will be wrapped around your finger with in the first few chapters.) What Flint never realized is that he could learn to be happy and he can learn to live and love again. All it takes is for a Music Therapist to move in next door to his work. That is when things start getting fun and hot!
Ellen is pretty much starting over away from her old life. She's a witty character and one you fall in love with. She gives Flint a run for his money and it's so fun to watch it all play out. I just loved these two! Like a whole lot!! Y'all need this. Ok in your life. Trust me you will fall in love just like I did.
This is a new to me author and I can honestly say that I'm am so happy I found this book and read it. I will watching for her new releases from here in out.
Highly recommended!

Every once in a while comes a long a book that reminds you why you became a reader and why words transcend you into a parallel universe. Few writers are born to write, NBWs-Natural Born Writers. I'm seeing the same traits in Jewel, she weaves golden words into a magical carpet that flies you up, up and away into the land of fairytales. The words are familiar, story may be too but when she tells it, you have nothing to do but drop everything and listen & read. I started this book today morning. I've not put it down since. I couldn't !! it would've been sacrilege and the characters just tugged at my heartstrings, calling out my name.
Ellen Rodgers is a sunshine bee, radiating glow and warmth. Full of life who has had a ringside view of ugliness in life, yet has somehow not let it dim her radiance, or her love for pet rats !
She meets uptight, sullen and self flagging, attorney/ landlord -Flint Hopkins and it's flint striking a rock. Cause a rock is dead inside, but constant strikes ignite a spark and we have fire.
The classy suited Flint has a whole Lotta baggage in his life. His mildly Autistic son-harrison and his own. He can't go back in his life even for a few minutes and divert a huge disaster that ends his life, his happiness and his will to forgive
nothing can ever make it right again. Not a million “sorrys.” Not the strongest glue. Not an infinity of good deeds.
The story is raw & painful, yet full of hope, just like real life generally is . This life of stolen kisses and brief moments of passion with a man who's capacity to love is infinite yet self forgiveness is zero.
Yet Ellen wants this life.
She wants this Man.
The sentiments that pour into her writing are pure molten lava, burning, scorching and igniting myriad of emotions. There's love and understanding, There's patience and music, there's forgiveness and repentence, and ultimately there's a lesson that redemption may not be the only answer to life's cruelties, sometimes just learning a lesson and moving on is inevitable.
“Sometimes the world ends and forgets to take you with it. I get it."
I'm dumbfounded by Jewel's capacity to so minutely dissect all the life's complex relationships and lay open for us to sift through to pick whatever we want to resonate with us
A story that starts with insurmountable grief, ends in sparkling hope but the journey passes right through your heart.
The promise Ellen makes to Flint ....omg ....i was crying buckets!!
“I’m going to love you so hard, time won’t matter … distance won’t matter … all you’ll feel when you take each breath … is my love.”
And that is what Jewel shows us. Unconditional Love is liquid that fills any vessel, any pit . It molds itself to all hearts, stretches across distances and seeps in all cracks to give new life to barren souls.
My first book by her , but BY god, not last, I AM going to read her other books too.
"God You sure look the part Flint Hopkins!"
Of a perfectly imperfect man, a husband, a father & a superhero without a cape !
First 6 star book of 2018 !

I recieved a complimentary copy of Look The Part for an honest review through the Crazy Cajun Book Addicts.
Look The Part was such a great story that came with lots of different emotions one minute you're laughing the next minute you want to cry.
Flint didn't get the easy life, he has circumstances from his past he's unable to forgive or forget, he lives everyday for his son and nothing more until Ellen who rents an office space in the same building as him and much to Flint's demise is a music therapist and loves her music and drum kit!
Ellen and Flint have an instant connection to each other and I love how sassy Ellen can be and isn't afraid to give Flint her opinion, Ellen's not had the easiest life but doesn't bow down to anyone easily.
For me this book is unique because of Flint's son Harrison and Jewel. E. Ann pulled his character off brilliantly.
It's definitely a must read, it has all the emotions and comedy factor in this story and every word just pulls you in it really does disappoint you!

Absolutely incredible. Completely unputdownable. Look The Part is by far one of the BEST books I’ve ever read. Impeccably written and drawing out all my emotions, I was lost to this book. I have never read anything by Jewel E. Ann before, so when I read the blurb I was of course intrigued (it’s the single dad junkie in me) but not expecting something so powerful. I was completely blown away from the moment I started reading.
Ellen is one of my favorite characters ever! Strong, yet vulnerable, with such a loving heart, and absolutely hilarious I just wanted to pull her out of the book and make her my new best friend. Her bond and complete understanding of Flint’s son was so beautifully heart warming. The sullen and serious Flint had no clue what to do with her. Flint was one of those men that had so many layers shielding a heart of gold. Ellen was exactly what he needed to bring him back to life. This is a book you have to read and experience, just make sure you don’t have any plans when you start reading because you won’t be able to stop.

I met Flint in One. I kinda liked his arrogant attitude in dealing with Lake and Cage. My heart felt for him when he told Lake about his wife. I was anxious to dive into his book next. I barely started this book and hated Flint. I didn't want to like him. I didn't want to root for him. I'm not even sure why I kept reading. Probably for Ellen. I wanted to learn her past because she was so likeable. I'm trying so hard not to give anything away, because I enjoyed every single surprise in this book. These are some beautifully flawed characters that can't help but to get under your skin. There's a moment, well, probably several, that make me happy I stuck it out despite hating Flint. This is worth the read. Fight through your hate like I did. People are human, and life can be so hard, so ugly, but can still turn out beautifully. That's all I want to say because I don't want to ruin any surprises along the way

I have to say, being a Jewel E Ann book, you honestly never really know what you are going to get when you crack it open. With Look The Part, you get a passionate story of a man with a tragic history, a woman who just wants to help people musically and unbridled passion that has so many hilarious moments but also emotional ones. I could relate a lot with this story as an ASD mom when it came to Flint and his son. It was very relatable for me! As the story flows, emotions and so many little twists and turns happen that you honestly cannot put this book down. I was blown away.
Overall, this is a classic Jewel book. You have amazing passion, witty banter and awkward moments but they all mesh so well together that it just leaps off the page. This story is no different. If you are a fan of her work, you will very much want to read this one! It is an amazing story of finding love after something so tragic and learning that you are worthy of something precious.

All the Feels with so much Heart and Humor
Jewel E Ann tells a story that is so real. It made me feel every emotion with heartbroken tears to swoony warm and fuzzies!
Grumpy, tough lawyer Flint Hopkins meets his match in cheerful always humming music therapist Ellen Rodgers. Adding in Flint’s autistic son, Harrison, his secretary Amanda, Ellen’s pet rats and I was a complete goner for this story and all of its characters!
“In twenty-four hours he completely took my heart in the Hail Mary of all Hail Mary passes. The man who feels unworthy of true happiness laid his whole heart open for me. I’m not sure what hurt most, the desperation in his eyes when he told me he loved me or the realization on his face when it became clear that no amount of love could keep me here.”
Be prepared for a major book hangover. It might only be January, but I can safely say that this book will be on my list of top books for 2018!

Look the Part
I have loved every Jewel E Ann book ever written. I just love her. I love her writing style, the wit she injects into the characters which bleeds onto the pages. I just get her. She is one of my people. I didn’t wait very patiently for this book; I couldn’t wait to get my grabby hands on it. And it did not disappoint. This book was perfect Jewel E Ann.
We meet Flint in One where he is very much a closed off, grumpy character and those characters are my favourite to crack. If you haven’t read One, it really doesn’t matter. This book stands alone completely, and you can even read One after Look the Part as there are no spoilers.
Flint is racked with guilt after his wife was killed in a drunk driving incident......and Flint was the drunk driver. Leaving their son, Harrison without a mum. Ten years of guilt later and Flint is a successful, hard-nosed, emotionally closed off attorney who just happens to have office space to let in his building.
Enter Ellen a bubbly, outgoing, tenacious music therapist who keeps rats as pets who needs a new office space!! Ellen herself has history, and is emotionally scarred but has a heart of gold.
Can these two divorcees navigate their way towards a relationship?
My absolute favourite character in this book though was Harrison, Flint’s son. This 12 year old completely stole my heart. He cracked me up constantly. Harrison has low level autism and Jewel’s compassion and understanding whilst writing Harrison’s character was an education and so heart warming. Harrison was so endearing. I need more Harrison in my life. This funny guy was the star of the show.
I finished this book a while ago and just sitting down to write this review has me wanting to re-read it again right now. This book ripped my heart to bits in one breath and swooning the very next. This is a book that will have you smiling to yourself and chuckling out loud one moment, then welling up with tears and curling your toes with the tension the next moment. But mostly, this book will make you feel all warm inside when you realise you’ve just read the most perfect book. It’s a very emotion filled booked. An emotional rollercoaster is perhaps a good analogy!!
Finally, please join me in my campaign for a book (or at least a novella!) about Harrison at college! Thank you and goodnight!

Flint & Ellen
Their story is not your cookie cutter romance . They are both characters that are hurting, damaged, and feel undeserving but that is what makes me love them even more. They harbor demons from their past that neither one has been able to free themselves of to this point. It may be that they need the help of another to see clearer or have that epiphany moment of more !You the reader will experience every emotion on the spectrum. I felt as though i was pulled into this story and could feel, cheer, see and hope for them. I know that Flint has done something in his past that is unforgettable but I can't help but still hurt for him and his past mistakes.
Ellen is a healer and her music is her device . When these two unlikely souls meet it will be an amazing ride.

So I started to give this 4 stars but I’ll settle for 3.5 mainly because I did at least finish it. The story started out really good and I was excited to read it mainly bc I just finished “when life happens” by Jewel. As I continued to read I just kept thinking it will pick up, however, it did not. The story they told could have been wrapped up in the first 200 pages... it didn’t need another 200 more. Flint and Ellen’s story was okay at best. I just never got wrapped up in it and I only picked up the story hoping it would get better. They did throw a few things in there that I was like oh okay but none of it was enough to save this plot line. So I would say if you are new to this author skip this story and just read “when life happens”.

Loved this story in every way. The love between Ellen and Flint survives every obstacle, every embarrassing moment (and there were many) that life throws at them. They are both wonderfully human with their own strengths and weaknesses, but together they are magic. Flint has a 12year old autistic son who is helped by Ellen's music therapy. Parents and grandparents, a sassy secretary and a few good neighbors round out the cast of characters, each rooting for Ellen and Flint. With all that help, what could possibly go wrong?

Gritty, raw, real, funny, loving, impossible, HEA. I have no good words to describe how this book made me feel. So relatable and accurate, so much love and heartache. It pulled on my heart strings, made me laugh, made me think, made me grateful. I started this book yesterday and I couldn't put it down because it had such a grip on my. Serious book hangover right here. It had the perfect balance of heartache and humor, love and heat. This is a must read!

Love love love this book. Flint is just getting through life. He is surviving not living. He has his twelves year old son to take care and if not for Harrison he wouldn't even be surviving. Ellen is a little sassy spit fire who has lost some things in the past and needs to find a new happy place and start over. They clash, they banter back and forth and they drive each other insane. But the sexual tension between them is unmistakable. Harrison is amazing. And I love Jon, Flints' Dad.

Oh my goodness! I really loved this book! It's so true to life and the every day realities we all face! Flint, Ellen and even Harrison are all quite the opposite, but exactly what each other needs! A dad struggling to raise a son, caught between guilt and trying to give his all! Then comes Ellen. Who comes across as so carefree yet she's working through her own things! It's hilarious, sweet and true! I laughed so much and cried at times too! You'll love it.

This book turned my heart into a gooey mess! It has all the feels. It’s a romcom and there are definitely some serious funny moments. However, this book is so much more. Ellen and Flint have been to hell and back. My heart just broke for the guilt and agony that Flint lives with. Ellen lets music soothe her broken heart. This is a powerful story told with a great deal of humor and lots of heart. I LOVE this book so hard!

This is the best book I have read in a long time! I laughed and I cried... This book sucks you in and keeps you there!! I could not put it down and I did not want it to end! I would love it if Harrison had his own story! This book should be made into a movie it would be fantastic! Jewel E. Ann did an outstanding job!! I would give her 10 stars! I am going to definitely read more of Jewel E. Ann books!

Forgiveness is a tricky subject to navigate. Especially when it comes to forgiving yourself. Jewel captured all of that in this book. This book is better than good. It’s breathtaking & heartbreaking. I love, love, love the author’s writing. She’s incredibly talented and so good at it. I loved Elle so much. She was spunky and vulnerable but so strong at the same time. Flint & Elle have some seriously amazing chemistry. Of course, Harrison made me laugh out loud so much. This is a definite must read! Highly recommended!

I discovered Jewel E. Ann I think just a couple months ago and I will read anything she writes. Both the characters Flint and Ellen are definitely made for each other. Ellen is the only woman who has been able to crack the hard exterior of Flint. Spending 10 years with regret and a mistake on his shoulders he finds he doesn't deserve a good life. Flint has a kid and I really liked reading about their relationship.

I cannot say how much I loved this story! From beginning to end I was completely hooked! The story grabbed me and held me by my throat. I giggled, I smiled, I shed tears, my heart broke, and when I thought I might not be able to take it anymore, all the puzzle pieces fell into place. I have become a huge fan of this author and will be devouring everything she puts out.

Ok so I wasn’t so into this book until around 40% through. I became invested though when I saw their actual relationship/feelings developing between Elle and Flint rather than just sexual banter. They seemed to take on more depth and I started to really like them. By the end I was really in love with the family unit they became through all their challenges. It was definitely very funny when his son Harrison was involved. I am a speech therapist and have seen pieces of his personality frequently with some of my students! I felt that each character’s emotions and reactions to situations were realistic and very entertaining! From a Mom perspective I love that it was not at all perfect. Flint definitely presented as a dad who had real feelings towards parenting that were not always positive. Which is exactly how it is sometimes! A good read :)

I have so much love for Flint. I couldn’t wait to read his story. Grumpy, brooding, sexy AF.
Ellen was adorable and fun and I loved the way she pushed all his buttons.
This story made me laugh, pulled at my heartstrings, made me swoon, and made it necessary to fan myself during the sexy parts.
Another excellent book from Jewel!

Ms. Ann's books always have a clever plot and some deep something that is explored, this book is deep in that it has two, dealing with alcoholism and it's consequences and dealing with autism. As always she did a great job of showing the unvarnished true of both and still letting you have a great HEA!

Look the Part is my first book by this author but certainly won’t be my last. I love the way this story was written. The characters were beautifully damaged and she portrayed Harrison perfectly. The dynamic between them all had me swooning and laughing hysterically.

I did not like the beginning of the story. Elle was way too easy for me. Even Flint said that she should make the man work a little bit. I had a hard time relating to her until I reached 50% of the book and then it got better after that. It was a good story line after all but not my best read.

Having never read this author I was not sure what to expect. Aspergers syndromes is on the mild end of the autism spectrum and Harrison was written as a believable character in that regard. Overall the pace of the plot and the character arches well developed.
